Yoenis Céspedes' Life on the Ranch

  • Yoenis Céspedes remains a bit of a mystery outside of baseball, despite being one of the most impactful players for the New York Mets. Widely known for crushing balls to the moon and riding into spring training in what seemed to be a never-ending stable of sports cars, the Cuban national’s antics have helped him become known as one of baseball's flashiest characters.
The reality is quite the opposite: Céspedes is a hardworking, humble cowboy who values the peace and simplicity that comes with working the land. We spent a day on the ranch with Yoenis Céspedes to see where the man with the $110 million contract lives out his surprising off-field dreams.

This is an awesome way to allow family members to work with/for him and provide for his extended family. This is much better than simply giving everyone money. That’s often the course many take and isn’t always sustainable. This allows family to work the ranch while he’s traveling all season long and allows them to participate in the prosperity of the family. This is both relaxing and financially prudent. Extremely well done Mr. Cespedes, and thanks to Vice Sports for posting! Great behind the scenes look!

When he signed his first MLB contract with the Oakland Athletics, and then proceeded to play great baseball and hit some mighty homeruns, he became my favorite player. I bought one of his jerseys and the A's then traded him to Boston. From there to Detroit, then on to the NY Mets where I've followed him ever since. A truly gifted athlete, hope he will play again in 2019 after coming back from surgery on both his heels!!!!!
