I was born and raised in the city but have always felt a connection to the country and ranching. I’m only a 14 year old girl living in the city but with a drive and heart for horses, cattle, hard work, and ranching. I don’t know where I would even start from to live in this lifestyle, especially at this young age but I know once I’m out of the house i’m going for it. I don’t own a horse, my grandpa recently sold all his cattle on his farm, and I have no experience in ranch life but I will learn. It will take time, hard effort, and sacrifices but one day I will make it. I just can’t see myself ever working a 9-5 job at a desk all day and I know for sure that this is my calling from God.
Don’t weaken in your plans. God surely will bless you with your dream.
There are several different types of farms and ranches that have apprenticeship programs that would be perfect for you to get the experience you're looking for.

Cowboys are the best! I wasn’t cowboy for the youth of my life. My best friend and his dad had a big place in lone tree Wyoming. I learned so much back then. God wish things were close to the same!!!!

Tell them with full honesty that you don't even know the first 2 steps in ranching, and that you're from the city. They'll be more then happy to accept and teach you the ropes. discuss the terms and conditions with them. Don't expect to be paid. The payment you get out of this is experience. Expect to work long and hard hours. Tears, but not from bad feelings you get from the city but from pain, and joy. Remember, its your first time, and ranching isn't like office work. It takes time to learn. Lastly, the most important tip I can give to you is to be conservative. A true conservative. Not one? learn to be one. if you need help, I'm the most conservative Asian you'll ever see. Its not a matter of being political but it will be the lifestyle you WILL be living if you go into this field. It will be a mindset you will need to have to help you succeed in the ranching world. If you're not in the united states, you can follow what I said, But if you want true American ranching, get a job save up money and move to the Americas. It's a hard dream to achieve depending on where you are, but no matter where, its always worth the effort.

I'm just wondering if anyone else has been to Rio Diablo Rosso ranch it's just outside of south west Texas ranch it's not far from the Rio grande river it's sets on the highest banks on the south west Texas river not to far from the El Paso valley ranch

If you interested in working with livestock I'd recommend ffa, however if your out of school, look up horse boarding near me. Start a a horse facility, bale hey and make connections. Than you can make connections and work on other farms. Every state has dairy farms, horse farms, and such of that nature. If your really lucky land a job at a small rodeo company.

I love how they keep talking about the dying out of the small family Rancher all the while they're sitting on a hundred thousand plus acres! Sorry but you're not going to find too many family ranches that have a hundred thousand acres or Twenty Thousand for that matter!

Yes it is tiring. We do this from sun up to sun down everyday of the year so people have food. We love are livestock and our land.
@@musababuassi7922 I don't think its the tiring you get from the city. In the city, its a lot of mental tiredness. in ranching, I think its more physical tiredness, and as well as satisfaction. A satisfied tiredness.
It’s hard for a family ranch to be passed down through the generations since the greedy government wants to take a piece of it through inheritance taxes every time it goes to the next generation. It’s sad that ranches have to be run by a corporation with fingers in several different pies besides ranch if. The government has gotten too big and too intrusive!!

wym? there are tons of ranches near here. I was a ranch hand up until a few weeks ago so I could take time off before I go to the marines and they always needed people.
Does anyone know what school courses one needs to become a ranch hand? Like for calving and other things not usual to common knowledge? I don't know exactly how to ask any better. Also, has anyone worked any Where they would suggest applying? Or first hand experience they could give me advice from? Thanks
I need a little experience also. I was very intrigued with ranching, (including all those horses, the environment (s) ), and all that jazz, for quite some time, ..., -!- -!- -!- . However, regretfully, I grew up in the "rust belt", (Ohio), with -NO- damned horses -!- -!- -!- -!- -!- . ( That's why I need something called -EXPERIENCE- ,..., ) -!- -!- -!- . I have tried to get an E-mail-, (and have gotten one), so that I can write to ranchers. One of them happens to be in Alzada, Montana, (to be exact). His name happens to be Ed Lawrence, plus I discovered him through U-Tube,..., .That's nice,..., .I happen to be Hon-Zee. Hon-Zee Fon-Zee, ( the "new fangled" Fon-Za-Relli ). Am I the only country boy here but let me tell you city boys something any nothing better than feeling free working out in nowhere. But let me tell you something some of the best cowboys I’ve seen came from places where the only place they’ve seen a cow was in there plate get out there. Now one last thing to remember is your bottom rank lower that the country kids working next to you because they have experience in labor you more than likely don’t so you any gonna get paid good until you work good

I think ranching is going to make a comeback since the more capitalistic, factory farming, has gotten a bad rep for being inhumane and cruel. this will lead people to start buying from free range cattle coming from ranches. so in my opinion the best time to enter is now before you see it start to rise again.

i am from Mumbai India, I like western outfit and is fan of the western lifestyle etc while growing up i used to wonder i wiould go to the US and wrok there on a ranch all i wanted is to wear the cowboy outfit specially the jeans and the boots and i was alright if they didnt pay me i just wanted to be a cowboy on an American ranch hahahahahaha what a dream hahahahaha
