It was only 5 yrs ago but seems much longer so it's easy to forget sometimes. But what he did after coming to NY was absolutely incredible. Definitely one of the best in-season trades in MLB history for sure.
The 2015 Mets season sparked by the Cespedes trade was one for the ages. Never had seen such a shift in momentum and the team turn into a juggernaut overnight. Murphy becoming Babe Ruth in the playoffs sweetened the fairy tale season, but unfortunately Cinderalla's carriage turned back to a pumpkin in the World Series. Still will always remember it though, a lot of fun.
30 year old Met fan since birth..that 2015 team was my favorite of all time even over 2006, 2000 and 1999. That run was incredible. 2006 Beltran looking followed by the collapses the next 2 years and then the Madoff thing was such a rough time for us fans , that 2015 team reignited so much passion in all of us. I feels as if we are finally building a core of young/talented guys that have been playing together for a few years now.
As a Mets fan his 2015 run is one of greatest second halves of a season I've EVER seen in baseball period. This team was too special we should've won :(
Not one of the he is the single greatest impact of all time he made everyone around him better including the team bus drivers the team cooks the team janitors the team trainers
Wow this dude was so electric, he was legit the best number 3 hitter we have had in a long time. The swagger and energy he brought to this team has yet to be matched. I hope the Mets celebrate him cause without him the Mets don't go on that legendary world series run.
I will never forget this run. I was living in the UK at the time and most games I had to wake up the next day to see what happened. I would always wake up to see HR: Cespedes (x) So awesome
I'll always remember the show that Yoenis put on when he came to the Mets. Every night was another gem, whether on the field or in the batter's box! 👍👍👍
The fact that this video is damn near 20 MINUTES LONG should tell you all you need to know about the run this man had. Didn’t record his first hit as a net until August 2nd. Roughly two months of games and has a full season length highlight reel. Crazy.
Céspedes was the man that season , he carry on the team on he’s back, some people say something bad about him but him 2015-2016-2017 was epic throws hits , LETS GO METS
great year for Cespedes coming to the Mets in 2015. He was a savior at the trade deadline which shockingly catapulted the Mets to the NL pennant. Just as much of a shock was Murphy then turning into Babe Ruth in the playoffs. Unfortunately both of their bats disappeared in the World Series against the Royals and they could never get the big hit in those close games.
I love remembering Jerry Seinfeld's famous "a Cespedes (Festivus) for the rest of us". Even now, five years later, hearing that Gary Cohen call (at 13:30) - "ANOTHER FEAT OF STRENGTH!" cracks me up every time! May Yo come back stronger than ever and give the Mets no choice but to bring him back...
QuackedDaniel Brad Brach was pretty decent for us too. Honestly, everyone just has to play like they should given their talent and peripherals and we should do great.
Mets are god but you gotta remember the braves and Phillies are in the division. Phils gotta joe gereardi and did I gregourios, also McCutchen isn’t injured anymore
Robbed of NL mvp that 2015 season idc what anyone says..aside from his solid stats..he carried the mets into the playoffs and almost won a ring..he was tearing apart the league when he came to the NL that season
Well then, maybe he should RUN when he hits a ball. People seem to want to forget that ALL his injuries were his own damn fault. Not just this latest pig chasing one. His first major Mets injury was when he posed at home plate thinking he hit a home run. And when it hit the wall, he then made a very awkward slide into second (where he should have been standing up easily) And the funniest thing is, the announcers were saying he got injured "hustling". But no...had he hustled, he would have been fine. Standing on second with a stand up double. Even had he just ran a little bit, he would have probably made it standing up, or at the very least been able to make a non-rushed slide.
That blast at about the 9:00 mark-check the upper deck on the right (last section)-I'm the guy in the orange shirt reacting "whoa!" as my arms go up...
Daniel Murphy runs like his sliding shorts are full of something warm and brown. Also, this guy smokes the ball. I hope to god we'll see some of him in 2020. Even if the Mets are terrible, he's so much fun to watch.
i love how aggressive he was. in the field he went for shoestring catches and made throws without a cutoff, at bat he swung 3-0 all the time, and he never hesitated to stretch a double into a triple
I don’t think people realize how talented this guy was. As talented a player as I’ve ever seen, just never seemed fully committed to reaching his full potential.
I'm allowing myself to get my hopes up.....PLEASE STAY HEALTHY IN 2020. I'm envisioning Alonso building his HR record (35 to 40+ minimum...53+ maximum) and Cesapedes (home run derby power/RBI machine) in the lineup back to back.
Let’s hope he can contribute in 2020 they way he did here. We will have a solid shot if he’s 100% this year in addition to what we already have. I’m hoping he, Alonso, and Conforto can combine for 100 HRs
I hope he comes back and kills it in 2020. He really is a special player. It bothered me that early in 18 when the problems showed up early in the season, why didn’t the Mets shut him down in April or May? They went halfway then he comes back for a game or whatever and is then properly shut down. The team cost him 2019 the Mets were shortsighted.

Yes brother
Watching this two weeks from baseball I can’t explain my excitement

One of the best acquisitions

@@123shoshan How?
Guys got better pitches to hit because of him he brought a swagger and aura that made everyone want to play harder
Céspedes was the man that season , he carry on the team on he’s back, some people say something bad about him but him 2015-2016-2017 was epic throws hits , LETS GO METS
Even all these years later, his highlights still make me smile. I might not follow the Mets much anymore, but this was a perfect run.
Julian they have a chance for playoffs I would
Cespedes made everyone around him better including the hotel staff members the team doctors team cooks .
maybe one of the best post trade deadlines for a player in history. I mean he was pure fire for the Mets
2015 was amazing year for the mets , one of the best years
Cespedes greatest mer of all time
Next to Strawberry
As a Met fan, I know full well that 2015 would not had gone thevway it did without him!!
Oh man, thanks for the highlights. 2015 Cespedes was something else, just amazing. Imagine him on the same team as Big Meat Pete.
Alonso is a cancer so no
if only we had him now, he would make our lineup so much better lindor pete cespedes would be crazy

The 2020 Mets: Alonso, McNeil, Cespedes, Davis, Conforto, Cano, Ramos, etc. Fix the bullpen and postseason here we come.
Marc Sonnenberg Diaz, Familia, Betances, lugo, wacha. Goated
Scott Lambiase don’t forget justin wilson

um52 cant win a mvp when you come from a different league brodie, but if he come from another NL team he definitely would've won NL mvp
Can't win coming from the AL
This is the BEST video for 2015 Yoenis Cespedes on RUclips ! Great job on the video !
+Ed Pallotta Thank you!
If we wasnt hurt right now, having him and Alonso in the line up would be legendary..
Kevin Medina I agree but I don’t think he’ll be coming back

Cespedes was the very definition of a streak player. When he was ON, watch out. When not, when his head wasn't there, forget it.
Sad...

Cespedes is what a GM dreams of when making a huge trade at the deadline, the man helped propel us to the World Series
i saw some A's games live,Yoenis was impressive. I respect and admire his decision to take care of his family and tend to his farm.Classy Man.
Great job. This video needs more views. Hope he signs back with us. LGM

Yoenis single handedly carried the 2015 Mets into the playoffs. What a time, 2023 gonna be the year #LFGM
5 minutes in and I've already seen more hard hit balls than I have for the entire team this season
Who else watching in July 2020

Most talented player in sports history
@@Alex-sf9bo How was Cespedes extremely talented?
Incredible speed incredible arm incredible power incredible instincts
He lifted the mets to the World Series in 2015, but unfortunately he fell apart after that.
Man, all the guy did was hit dingers in the playoff push that year. Hopefully he returns from injury and hits like that again once he’s fully healthy
Cespedes really deserves this video !top 3 on the best outfielders !proud to be Cuban !
He's baaaaaack!! :)

Bad contract but the guy gave this franchise there best postseason memories of recent and is an absolute beast in a Mets uniform when heathy

We need that Rally bird back
To the younger kids out there, this is what we describe as “him”
he was so lean and looked like he was in such better shape. I bet if he still looked like this, he wouldn't be getting hurt every other week
Exactly
The Mets haven’t had an all around hitter since him
Too bad he's out for the entire 2019 season, can you imagine? nuff said!
And he’s still MIA.

What was I thinking a year ago? He killed the Phillies much more than the nationals lol
These days he’s only killing the IL
MTD25 lol
Well done!
Here is a reminder to all those that forgot: DO NOT RUN ON YOENIS CESPEDES!!!
Me in 2015: No one will ever crush balls for us like Céspedes.
2019: Pete Alonso has entered the chat.
Man he was so fit when he first got traded to the Mets. Then he just gained so much weight and couldn’t stay healthy.
The Best Cespedes
Can this guy STAY healthy? He would be THE guy to compliment Pete Alonso.
