Pots should have a very limited storage capacity, like 3 slots, so you can smash them open and get items like in zelda for map makers, and if you pick up the pot itself instead of breaking it you can use it like an early game shulker box.
Yeah, the problem with giving the player any "early game ____" is it just turns into a quick, easy way for the player to avoid the lategame version unless the lategame one is leagues better/has more functionality

Still even then, the inconvenience of having an inventory full of shulkers full of more blocks that store 3 things would probably put most people off from spamming them late game.
A piece of functionality I'd love for the torchflower is it not emitting light, but act as spawn blocker. Put these underneath your floor, and keep a build dark but without the issue of mobs spawning.

@@HappyGingerWolf Well, it's not fully renewable because sniffers will only produce a seed from a block once. So if you have an enclosed pen, eventually they'll stop producing seeds. The only way to get more (besides expanding the pen) is then breeding sniffers using the seeds. So while it is renewable, it isn't the most renewable thing in the world.
@@nyahnyahson523 You can put the pen on top of a very slow moving rooted dirt farm. Generate cobble -> convert to moss -> grow azela to convert to rooted dirt. This can be entirely automated and the rooted dirt can be slowly shifted into the pen at a rate that allows the sniffers to dig it up.
While I love that desert wells finally have a use, I feel that there is a very missed opportunity for jungle temples to have archeology spots as well. They have remained virtually unchanged since their addition. Maybe give them their own unique pot shards as well, to give an incentive to find one. A pot shard of an ocelot head or redstone dust, as jungle temples were the first structure to feature redstone.
Your idea might just come into fruition, as more digsite spots are yet to be revealed, and deserts cannot surely be the only biome where ancient artefacts lie.
So keeping in mind this is still a snapshot, Archaeology looks great, but the pottery shards leave a bit to be desired in terms of how many there are, dying them to add color would be an amazing addition, Torchflowers should provide light, and the cherry petals should have SOME way of farming them. Maybe it's like lava where you have to wait for the dripstone to drip enough into a cauldron or how copper oxidizes, maybe if you wait for long enough under the right conditions, petals will eventually fall onto the block beneath some cherry blossoms (leaves?). That way, people with older worlds who update and presumably get the saplings from the Wandering Trader have a way to acquire petals. Maybe they could also make it so they have a chance to drop like apples with oak leaves? Who knows, but I'm looking forward to the next snapshot.
Yeah im gonna be honest, even though the early concept art for the pottery shards was a lot less neat, I think I liked them better as they were more colorful and allowed for more creative expression. The whole idea of telling your own stories with the pottery shards is a lot harder when it’s simply just a diamond icon or a skeleton skull. Idk
They should honestly add craftible suspicious blocks. It's like the same crafting recipe for a chest, but with dirt, sand, etc. And you could probably put any item in the middle for maps or so.
I haven't played minecraft in over a year now and all these new updates are insane, I remember hearing about the caves update and thinking "Nah this is too much change" and now I see words like "snobblerstone" and "Griffipolwax" (JK these aren't real obviously) and it brings out my inner old man

I'm still disappointed with archaeology. We were told that we would be able to make blocks at different layers (as showcased at Minecraft Live) but that no longer appears to be happening. Why would they change that? Wasn't archaeology almost completely finished by the time of Minecraft Live 2020/2021/2022 (can’t remember which)?

It complements extremely well with the display entities from previous snapshots. You can make blocks that move when you right click them, or a pile of paper that you have to uncover by punching them, hell you can even make a hitbox for a fully custom mob.
I like minecraft aditions but for years and years most of them in my head end with Why, like what purpose does this affect the gameplay, this started back then with emeralds wich were pretty much completely useless and now you have stuff like amethyst, wich barely has a use, copper, pretty much useless aside from building, a crapton of new biomes, while they are cool they don't really do anything, there is no reason for you to move outside of the zone between your spawn and the end portal, every time i go "i wanna play some minecraft, they added new content" im lying to myself because is all aesthetic, yeah they did add the deep dark and the nether but in the deep dark case there still no reason for you to go down there unless you want sound detectors.
Yeah. They view the actual gameplay part of the game as being complete and perfect as it is apparently, so they don't want to change or add anything meaningful in that regard. Or at least that's been the case since 1.16 was finished, which was the only such update to add anything close to gameplay since I started playing in 1.14.2. 1.15 didn't, and nothing afterward has either. And of one of the things added in 1.16 to give us a new gameplay element, they're ruining it in 1.20 with a horrible nerf to netherite that makes it not even worth using. Very uninspired.

Most of this snapshot, from what I've seen, is mediocre at best. Everything added needs to be further worked on. Cherry wood is fine though, even though I personally will never use it to build anything.
I really liked a Fabric mod for Archeology, where, to avoid breaking the sand, you had to move your mouse slowly along with the brush. Now it’s just slow, not hard :( Also in the mod, the brush took of layers of the sand. The animation in the update is just lazy

Every time they add new stuff the more my speculation about this being the Storyteller update becomes real. We got archeology, interaction entity, scalable entities, the past reborn, new signs, and the cherry blossom forest.

... even then, you're effectively giving players (roughly [i think]) 2× the storage, unless you can't put pots in shulker boxes.

Something I dont understand is that we already had trailers showing this features. Which indicates that these things had already been coded. Why does it take so long to release then?

Every time they add new stuff the more my speculation about this being the Storyteller update becomes real. We got archeology, interaction entity, scalable entities, the past reborn, new signs, and the cherry blossom forest.
