The best part is this isn't even the first April Fools update to have bad words in! In the 2016 prank (1.RV-Pre1), one of the textures is called "cantsee****captain.png" (without the stars lol), as a reference to a Star Trek meme.

They also don't have to balance gameplay. Normally adding mechanics/items is a delicate balancing game, you want a new item/mechanic to have a use but not leave (most) other items/mechanics obsolete or make the game too easy or too hard

The sad part about this is that the april fools update has more content than the last 3 updates
And about half of the content is actually adequately decent, if they were in the actual game I’d enjoy them
I feel like all the content we see for updates has to go through a thousand layers of approval, this is what the devs are like without barriers, imagine what they could do if allowed to apply this to serious updates.

It’s because for once they aren’t completely overhauling some old system that was perfectly fine and actually get to add useful features that impact the player’s experience of the game positively.

With the footprint one, it has multiple stages. Eventually, you actually get footprints. The stage after that, which is the stage you were in at the start of the video, then removes the footprints and starts the cycle over again.
This just shows that mojang COULD do all the things community wants them to, but they won't.. Well, at least not on any other day than april fools

Well, as someone said in another comments thread, they don't need approval for anything the put into thos update cause it's just an April fools joke, and they also don't have to worry about bugs cause it's a one time thing.
If they approached their main updates with the same attitude that they approach their April Fools updates, then the game would be absolute chaos

@@basewho5230 Actually that applies to any mob hostile mobs won't normally aggro on (So a Mooshroom or Pig would be safe from hostile mobs as long as you don't transform in front of a mob that has aggroed on you, but even then you can just lose them and then you can safely walk up to them again without them aggroing on you.)

These updates show they have the ability to add so much cool stuff, I just wish they put this creativity into the real game...
No, you don't. If they did this, in 10 years, you'd be playing an unrecognizable game. Imagine if you get a new dimension every 3 years and 2 new biomes every year. Suddenly, 10 years down the line, we're stuck with 6 dimensions, around 70 biomes, who on earth knows how many mobs, and waaaaaaaayyyyyy too many blocks and mechanics to keep up with.
Someone who doesn't keep up with the game would feel like they downloaded 5 modpacks at once, and trying to discuss the game with more experienced people would just become a constant game of "what are you talking about".
Yes, I know I'm exaggerating by putting things to an extreme. But the point still remains, if they want to keep minecraft vanilla for a long time, they can't shove gamechanging updates all the time, otherwise well...

Also mods would stuggle to keep up with a game that constantly changes to such a level. We'd probably see a drastic decrease of mods, since adding new mechanics might end up revisting old ones which would end up breaking old systems mods might have been reliant on.

No shit in ten years minecraft isn't going to be the same. Nothing is the same in 10 years. RUclips was made 19 years ago, just under 2x 10 years ago. Minecraft is 13 years old, just over ten years. the Internet as we know it with social medias abound, infinite ways to distract you, and so many ways to connect with others is brand new. Hell, if we went back _five_ years, got an avid minecraft fan and brought them to now with the 1.20 update and such, they would probably have a stroke with how different it is.

where are you getting these numbers from? Who said anything about any of that? Are you referencing 14∞ april fools? This snapshot added _one_ new dimension, based on a mod that is _very_ old, and. I would argue that dimension is entirely unrelated to any of the rest of the content. It is not the main focus, unlike the updates we have gotten in the past for the nether and end. clearly mojang cares about what we have now, and they're not going to add random stuff willy nilly just because they feel like it.

Love how Mojang can do all these things for April Fools' like adding animated wheels, a "new" dimension with fully animated growing blocks or whatever that contraption was (which I enjoy), but they absolutely could not be asked to keep fireflies in the game and just have frogs not eat them.
Mojang REALLY needs to keep these:

Copper Spleaves = Keeper.
