That sound system is incredible... Can only imagine how hard those octuple 18's pound!! Wish I could've ran some low end like that last night for a 700 student prom, but it just wasn't possible in the amount of time, venue, or budget. Great job as always dude!

Keep in mind Rick that each extra step in the chain from source to amp degrades audio quality. If you are not using the DBX PA2+ just bypass it completley. The A/D and D/A converters of the PA2 is not even close to as good as the Venu 360. But if you go in to the PA2 and out again you have lost alot of dynamic range and audio quality. Really stupid thing to do when you have a nicer processor in the amp rack. And the EQ and x over in general sounds better with the venu 360 because of the higher processing power (96khz and 32bit float).
Yeah I know. It was a time thing. I had the srx 815p pre set already saved in my pa2. And Chris didnt have the venue 360 setup to let me use a iPad and eq it up front yet.
USELESS! The Pioneer DDJ-SZ2 soundcard it rated at 24bit/44.1khz, so that makes the VENU360 useless. What comes out of that controller, is what you hear!
I sure loved the bass that was strong and it's ok when you mess up between mixing of trying to hit the cue button I know it's a pain in the neck to get it just right of syncing your beats and keep the party going. #snapgang Quick question though, how good was the coverage on those VRX tops? Ive heard that you really need at least 2-3 a side to get good coverage since they are only 15 degrees vertical. I too am looking at light options for big dances, and i am curious as to how hey performed

Quick question how were you running the subs with that single macrotech 9000i? it is possibe that shit puts out 3500 watts at 4 ohms dual so you just used both channels and since there dual 18 the amp goes into 4 ohms then you just coupled the subs? correct me if im wrong. and i like the fact that you used the old srx there 6400 watts peak compared to the 800 series went down to 4800
No the macrotech power two of the subs. There was another amp in the amp rack powering to other 2 subs. I believe we used an itech 8000. Have to watch the footage again
There is a set up on serato to not load a track on a current playing track.. Also why not have moving heads and. smoke machines would x10 on your lighting. .. Good job!!!
DJ Rick Web the HDL 6’s that they have are the same size as the 928’s but they sound better than the 932’s. I found RCF after I started buying my 932’s and wish I would have seen those first but I’m too deep in rn. Especially since the resale on the VRX isn’t that great and the RCF are more expensive. But buying a new system I would definitely go for RCF it’s worth the money also they are true adjustable line arrays instead of constant curve like the VRX
Hey rick quick question how did you nail a prom Gig at a high school please I would appreciate if you can explain how you got the gig thanks . did you just go in there and asked if you can DJ?
Most proms are put on by the PTO of the schools. Go to the school you want to work at or go to their website. Find out who to talk to or email on the PTO= Parent Teacher Organization. The Prom is a big deal so make sure you have some references they can contact to ask about your DJ gigs or some video.
Hi rick nice video like always, I have a question .Im going to buy a line array system but i need you help .between the qsc kla 12 and the jbl vrx witchone you think will be better sound better quality
First off just for the sake of the internet. Both of those are not line arrays. There called constant curvature arrays. Internet is picky lol. And after hearing both I would go with the JBL VRX. It is more widely used in the production industry and after hearing both I think the clarity is better kn the VRX as well.
How much was the school charge to to do this dance? I am thinking of hiring a production company to do gigs like this, but I really don't know how much to charge the schools so that I can also make money.
I love how you admit when you messed up instead of editing it out, it makes you very relatable. Thank you for posting these videos. I've been DJ-ing for less than a year and they are very helpful.

Always turn protection on the playing deck...a buddy of mine did this at a gig we were Djing this weekend
I can't based on my flow. Since it won't let me scroll through a song while playing.

Respect that you're showing when you messed up because a lot of others dj wouldn't show it and i know that becaus i'm a dj

This reminds me of how much proms can suck. You were bangin' some awesome music, but most of the people were just standing around talking.

@@DJRickWeb The microphone is certainly not suitable for transmitting high sound levels cleanly. But I can assure you that QSC amplifiers have enough power for the Vtx. Please have a look at which power amplifiers. The VTX subwoofers are long-stroke drivers and require a power amplifier with corresponding peak performance.
@@himbeereiszumfruhstuck9615 there srx subs not vtx subs.... and using twin crown ma9000i amps which was what Harmon recommends. The amps were barely pushing 50% power the whole gig.
What are those mats you put on the floor always?
School owns them and puts them down to protect the basketball floor
DJ Rick Web Awesome thanks for quick reply
what is the exact track in the soundchecking scene?
That was part of one of my recorded mixes.
There is a set up on serato to not load a track on a current playing track.. Also why not have moving heads and. smoke machines would x10 on your lighting. .. Good job!!!
I was wondering, which computer do you use to control your lighting?
My hp spectre x360
I 6 have 932LA’s I would highly recommend you look at some RCF HDL 20’’s they are the same size but muccchhhhh better
I actually have been looking at going all rcf with my concert setup
DJ Rick Web the HDL 6’s that they have are the same size as the 928’s but they sound better than the 932’s. I found RCF after I started buying my 932’s and wish I would have seen those first but I’m too deep in rn. Especially since the resale on the VRX isn’t that great and the RCF are more expensive. But buying a new system I would definitely go for RCF it’s worth the money also they are true adjustable line arrays instead of constant curve like the VRX
DJ Rick Web also that’s what I mainly do is concert style bands. All the way from blues to rock to worship.
Hey rick quick question how did you nail a prom Gig at a high school please I would appreciate if you can explain how you got the gig thanks . did you just go in there and asked if you can DJ?
Company booked this one
Most proms are put on by the PTO of the schools. Go to the school you want to work at or go to their website. Find out who to talk to or email on the PTO= Parent Teacher Organization. The Prom is a big deal so make sure you have some references they can contact to ask about your DJ gigs or some video.
24:00 what’s the song called?
Jump around
Hi rick nice video like always, I have a question .Im going to buy a line array system but i need you help .between the qsc kla 12 and the jbl vrx witchone you think will be better sound better quality
First off just for the sake of the internet. Both of those are not line arrays. There called constant curvature arrays. Internet is picky lol. And after hearing both I would go with the JBL VRX. It is more widely used in the production industry and after hearing both I think the clarity is better kn the VRX as well.
Get 932s though the smaller box isnt as good.
Thanks for you responde,It will be good 2 vrx for 150-170 people? DJ Rick Web
2 vrx 932s? First off you need subs which I assume you will be using. And no 2 vrx 932s with proper amount of subs can do up to 500 people.
Wow amazing thanks you help me a lot DJ Rick Web
How much was the school charge to to do this dance? I am thinking of hiring a production company to do gigs like this, but I really don't know how much to charge the schools so that I can also make money.
Not giving exact numbers but north of 5k
