    Awesome job Rick. Great to see you're still doing the djing despite all the growth in the sound and lighting business. One thing I would say is that you were getting a better reaction out of those early 2010's hits the the recent rap hits. I've noticed that as well in my own teen dicoes with teenagers which is kind of surprising.

    You have better be proud of yourself for as far as you have come. You have been a major playa in my studio build and how I keep my set up super clean. I lost my career of 20 yrs 5 months ago and had a month no work so had to grind hella hard. I’ve pulled out but left the channel so I’m sorry I couldn’t support you and your team. I showed you to my middle son last year and since them I’ve invested into his dj and studios. Still on the plan and one day I hope to see you perform

    I read alot of the comments. Some of you people amaze me. You come to Rick’s page, watch his content, then give your unwarranted opinion. He got paid alot of money for an experience and it looks like a good time was had. Telling what you would have done or he should’ve have had so many subs or he should have had this head is ridiculous. Obviously he consulted long and hard with the client and came up with a really good plan. Somebody even said he should just stick to DJing and not design, like he should turn down that money when he has the capability. Give the man credit and enjoy the content. Stop bitching!!!!!

    How many of these kids can identify IG's personalities or discuss current events in the world? How many know what countries border the US? How many can tell you who the Vice Pres is? How many could function if their phone was not glued to their hand? How many will bring their parents to a job interview? Let's just hope this generation is better equipped to deal with life unlike Gen Z's or Millennials.

    I feel a little bit underwhelmed by this one Rick. Surprised I'm saying it with such a long detailed setup. I just don't get how only having uplighting can be affective. I'm not particularly keen on the string lighting either. I'm confused why dj's offer these 'extra' novelty things. Fake plants, shrubs and trees. It's all a bit far removed from the dj'ing..yes it's a big room and there's a theme but couldn't the client just book a design or event planning company leaving you to focus on the dj'ing. Back to the dancefloor and I just feel it's pretty dark down there with most of the uplighting far away around the sides of the room. You definitely should have had a couple of moving heads. I just don't understand why some dj's only go for uplighting. Surely uplighting should be an affect that compliments and not replaces other lighting!?
    Of course they all had a good time with the music and no question they wouldn't as its a prom but I just feel underwhelmed. Only my opinion.

    • @matthewbohn765
      @matthewbohn765 2 года назад +2

      A lot of what you asked is pretty self explanatory. Sure, the school could have got a different vendor for all the string bulb lighting if Rick didn’t offer it. But he does, and pockets a nice profit and gives the client what they want. More than likely, he laid out the lighting options of uplights, movers, etc, and this is what they decided on.

    • @craigparry282
      @craigparry282 2 года назад

      @@matthewbohn765 @Matthew Bohn nah not self explanatory. Dj's offering too many add ons and extras nowadays. Was bad enough with photobooths. I'm confused why. How much profit with all those helping him out? Is it worth all the additional effort. You go into dj'ing for a reason and it isn't to decorate a room. He's DJ Rick Webb not Decorator Rick Webb. Also a dj should be advising that the dancefloor would be quite dark and making suggestions for a couple of moving heads or wash fx. Fine to offer a client options but also offer guidance. A dj event with only uplighters makes no sense to me as there's no atmosphere and just darkness on the dancefloor.

    • @matthewbohn765
      @matthewbohn765 2 года назад +1

      @@craigparry282 your confused why? Because money. Look at his gig logs for the past year. The vast majority of them include string bulb as an up sell. Clearly it’s not too much of a hassle with a good ROI, or he wouldn’t be doing it every weekend.

    • @DJRickWeb
      @DJRickWeb  2 года назад +4

      Its long and detailed on that one. The intial part of the why stems from the clients budget and what they value to pay for. In the case of this school dance and many others the budget is set by the advisor at the school. And if the advisor values the theme and decor the budget goes towards that and not the DJ. So in being a company that offers the decor design services we can sell the advisor on the theme and charge accordingly. We as DJs understand that what an event needs is not normally what a customer envisions. Nor can you change their vision sometimes either. Like in the case of a school dance the advisors wants and vision almost always trumps everything. So what we do is sell them on the vision and charge accordingly and then include what is needed for the event within our cost of doing it. Tbh originally they didnt even want us to change the colors of the uplights and leave them green. So again its all about creating the vision which is what makes the money and then profit what is truely needed to accomplish the event.
      I do agree a sick lighting setup with movers would be something the students would want more but the creating vision is what gets you the gig.
      Lastly the dancefloor seeming dark was actually just the go pro. It was plenty bright to be able to see. But also keep in might the sicological aspects of lighting. People dont like to dance in bright enviroments so you want to create a slightly darker enviroment on the damce floor so they dont feel like there in the spotlight.

    • @craigparry282
      @craigparry282 2 года назад

      @@DJRickWeb other than possibly making profit why do you offer decor services? I'd far prefer you concentrating on the dj side of things. It's a shame you can't change their visions as things could be a lot better if they allowed you to share your expertise with them. It's one of my pet hates with clients is that they think they know it all. I agree dancefloors are dark environments but you need more variety of lighting seaping in an out to create atmosphere. Sadly I will never believe that uplighting will cut the mustard in that department. Uplighting is for room enhancement and decor. They were never intended for dancefloor effect. It's just a shame that a dj cannot influence decisions about the dancefloor which is a dj's main area of expertise.
      I appreciate the detailed reply Rick and I do love your content but sadly this one not quite to my liking.

    8 20 amp circuits from a single 50 amp breaker…

      Yep - Power distribution rack had breakers and voltage monitoring instrument screens.. looks like a provided ‘event house/owned’ rack item. Principle of 8 20’s under one 50 is same as a house panel. No Blooper here:)

    Odd playlist for a bunch of High School kids at prom in 2022..Did you see the reaction you got when you played Crank Dat? Not so much...You know why? Because these kids were learning to walk when that song came out. We're talking kids that consider songs from 2015 old school like Hotline Bling. I remember my own Prom in 1999, thinking, "If this DJ plays Footloose by Kenny Loggins I'm gonna go nuts".

      I'm not one to leave a comment. It's rare that I do but I was going to say the same exact thing. I was just sitting here thinking whether this guy knows who he's spinning for. I played a prom a couple of weeks ago & for the most part they just want to hear TikTok viral ish.

      I was surprised, seems like they don't know about the old school songs at all. Only fairly new songs that are tiktok viral

      This dude has killer setups, but his music knowledge is definitely lacking. He’s not up to par with what the kids want. Music is very outdated

      Every song played was on the request list from the students. They vote on it. The newer tik tok songs had the worst reactions. You see mr bright side or hotel room? They lost there shit and i did as well in confusion.
