This is by far the very best technique that I've seen for a hooded towel! Love it! One thing that I changed is that, when attaching the hood to the towel, I started at the center and sewed toward the outside of the hood and then turned it around and did the other side. I did that so that it wouldn't bunch up in the center as you sew toward the center. It was a little awkward because I had to have the length of the towel to the right while sewing the reverse from the center. Just had to deal with the bulkiness.
Thank you so much for the tutorial, Juju! Your designs are the best!
Julie is the teacher if you want the easiest, but perfect hooded towel! I made one four years ago while Julie was making Charlies towel.❤
Love the way you have attached the hood. Thank you
What a great tutorial! I've made hooded towels in the past with a different method. I love your method! The lined hood is key! I love the way you do that French seam too. I can't wait to dig out my towel stash and try some of these.
I absolutely love this towel and you made it so easy to follow along!
Love the way you put the towel together
Thank you so much for making this hooded towel, love that the inside is lined, doesn’t look messy.
This is one of the best tutorials I have seen with a nice finish, with hidden Seams I mean. I am no seamstress but for the towel edges not really matching when you do the self lining thing (which I find great) I would suggest drawing the line like at 8.25 and not really in the center: linings tend to show more because they have less room to fit in, like when you do pouches for the lining you should use a larger seam allowance to better accommodate the lining fabric, if the outside part is just a little bigger than the lining part, I feel when you match the bottom edges they would like up better. My preference is to add a little bias tape, I find it a nice decorative touch and this way you cannot see if everything matches really well. (Also where I live towels are 22’’ so I think I might try using some terry cloth and making a towel from scratch, which would have no finished edges)
Thanks for sharing, I will use this method for my next towel ☺️
THANK YOU!!! I love how easy you have made this! I'm going to make one for each of my grands to use this summer at the pool/beach!
I love how easy you make it to sew the hooded towels together. I tried that years ago and did not like how they turned out. But you have renewed my faith in hooded towels, so I will be attempting it again since I have seven great gandbabies now to sew for, ranging from 9 yrs down to 1 month. A BIG Thank You for this tutorial.
Love this and will be making some for my grandson. For help with the layers a walking food would help lots x
Lady, you have the best sewing room view in the WORLD! Thanks for the video. I'm totally doing my towel your way now. No ugly seams, nice finished look. Thanks!
I love your step-by-step instructions. I was successful on my first hooded towel. It’s so cute!
Your son Jake is doing a great job. I love this tutorial. You are so real. Thank you.
This is the best video for making a baby bath towel. I like how everything is finished with no raw edges.
Your video has given me the confidence I need to attempt this project! LOVE your designs and your generosity in pricing! You are so much appreciated!
OMG!! It's so much easier than I had imagined. Thanks Juju!!
Your window view looks amazing....thanks for the extra professional tips...
Been watching many of these hooded towel videos, but this is by far my favorite technique. Thanks.
Your instructions are so easy to follow. This is such a tidy method. Thanks!
I really liked this video. As an avid DbyJuJu shopper, I have several that would make adorable towel toppers. Now I know how to do the towel itself. Thank you! Will watch more...
What a wonderful tutorial! I've been making hooded towels for over 40 years, but I love this self lined version!!
This is by far the most professional looking hooded towel I have seen. Love it.
Genius!!!! I have struggled through so many towels - this is by far the easiest, most simple way to make a professional finished, lined towel! Love it! Thank you for the fantastic video! I’m going to buy towels now to make one!
Yes thanks so much 👌👍
Best video I’ve seen on doing the hooded towels. Thank you 😊!!
THANK YOU for such a great and EASY to follow instructional tutorial! I love that the hood is lined and the French seam gives the towel a polished finish.
Just completed my first hooded towel. Your tutorial made it so easy. I see many more in my future! Thank you!
Great tutorial. I love the way you finished it to hide the raw edges and doubled the hood to finish the applique side. Thanks
Thats adorable!!! You did a great job!!! I'm also a grandma and our grandbabies don't see imperfections all the see and love is what we give them..
Thank you for these directions. My hooded towels went together so easily. The kids are thrilled!!!
Thank you so much for your video. I made some for Christmas for my greats, they were ok but I like the way you did yours so much better.
I will make some more using your directions.
This is awesome! I just purchased a Baby Lock Alliance and I'm excited to try to make one of these! Thank you so much!
Julie, just the cutest! Also, you do a really good instructing job. Your personal, patient presentation, as well as your video, are really good. I am going to make a couple of these soon. Have had the good intention for a while now. Your video gives me just the motivation I need. Thanks.
By far the most professional looking towel. I like encasing the embroidery design so it doesn't show the back and it is much softer. Thank you!
This was such an awesome video! I love purchasing your designs and last night made my first hooded towel with your help. Thank you for the great instructions and best wishes on that new grand baby.
This is my favorite hooded towel video. I love how the hood is encased. Thank you.
Great instructions! Thank you Julie. Looking forward to making these in the future!!
Thank you for the wonderful tutorial! I've been scared to try hooded towels, but am going to give one a try. When attaching the hood, I think I'll use the walking foot. It helps move the layers together. Again, thank you so much!
Thank you for the easy to follow instructions! My granddaughter will love her new hooded towel.
Thank you for this lined version. I've made about 15 but never lined. I have six I'm getting ready to stitch. I love all your designs and every single one stitches out beautifully. Can't get enough of your designs and love your website.
Love the lined hood. Great job.
Definitely enjoyed the video as I'm a seamstress but have never attempted one of these before. Can't wait for the folding instructions!
Fantastic technique and instructions! I love that the appliqué back is hidden. Thank you for sharing! :)

Great video and now I feel more confident in making some of these!! Thanks Julie!!!
Thank you so much for this video. I LOVE that the hood is lined. That makes this so professional and soft on the person's head. I have a great grand- daughter to make this for and I think her mom would like one also for the beach. I have many of your designs and enjoy using them in my projects.
Just made this following your instructions, thank you, thank you, thank you!!! It turned out great!!

Such a nice job - easy to follow and our great grandsons will love the cuddle these hooded towels provide!
Thank you for sharing your video. When my son was a baby over 30 years ago, I was gifted a store bought hooded towel and I used that towel so much. Your towel is so much nicer. My cousin’s new baby will love this. 😊
I just finished my first hooded towel thanks to you! Best instructions and love the finished look of the lined hood AND the nice look of the hidden seam. I'm now off to do a different design on my second hooded towel! Not only is the technique great but your instructions are too!

Great! I sewed my own along with you and it turned out sooo cute. Thank you so much for all the great tips. My grandson will love it.
Wonderful as always. I don't know why there are any other embroidery offers out there. DBJJ is so great. You have a design for every occasion. I'm so glad I found you at least 8 years ago. Thank you. Please keep up the great designs. ❤💕
love, love, love this!!! Thank you for taking the time to demonstrate this for us!! I just finished this for my grandson's birthday tomorrow!!!
Thanks so much for this video! You did a great job making this so I could understand. I will actually try to make these for my 3 youngest grandkids now. They are going to love them.
Love how you do this. So much better than my first ones! Thanks for the video!
Tried this for the first time....won't be my last. Love this. It is so simple yet so neat with all the stitching and seams hidden. Thank you!
I've made hooded bath towels for YEARS, but am about to make my first one with an embroidery design on it. So i decided to watch this tutorial and I am in love with this method!!!!!! I was always bothered by the raw edge. You have solved my dilemma. This is absolutely GENIUS! Thank you so much!
Thank you for the great video, can't wait to try this. I love your view
Made a towel for grandson tonight... it turned out lovely... thank you!
I have watched many hooded towel tutorials and this is by far the best. I love that there are no open seams. Everything went together flawlessly. Thank you so much.
Thank you so much for saying I could do it, even if I didn't sew, I probably never would have tried. I also like that you could leave it with the design not in the position you intended and be human.... it really helps us newbies to keep trying! I love your designs and also all your helpful tutorials. I made a hooded towel for a very sick little boy and it made his day. God bless you !
Beautiful. I do a lot of hooded towels, but I love your idea. I will try next time. Thank you. God bless you.
Hooray!!! Just finished my first one! Soooo easy thanks to your fabulous video instructions!!
I am so happy to have found this video. I couldn’t get the download pattern for this to work, but your tutorial is great! Very informative and seems easy to follow. Now to find the folding video. Hope to make these for my grand babies for Christmas. Many thanks for all you do.
Love the lined hood . Great design too.
Fantastic job!! I did mine right along with you!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!
I have a 6' 4" husband with a big head, too! Great tutorial. Nice to finally see the pretty face behind the DBJJ website.
This is great! Thank you so much. I absolutely love your embroidery site.
I love your video! I have been sewing for a long time and have made hooded towels before but yours are awesome and I can't wait to make it! I also will get some more of your embroidery designs. I bought a few a couple of weeks ago but haven't stitched them out yet. Looking forward to it though. Thanks for sharing your techniques!
Perfect! Now I need to make some of these for next Christmas.
I have been using your design in my videos and i absolutely love working with them. I love this tutorial, it was really helpful. And I will be trying it out.
I going on your website to check out those designs. Another thing i love about your designs is that they usually come in bundles or sets.
Thank you for a very helpful video.
This is my most favorite hooded towel. I really love the self-lined hood with the embroidered applique! Great job. Thank you! 😀💖💯
Totally just as cute even not moved to the edge. Just darling. Good camera work too. Thank you both!
Best method for hooded towel. Thank you so much for sharing!!
This would be a perfect opportunity to use a walking foot. Lovely projects, great video.!!
Thank you for this video. I like the covered stablizer and seams. What I learned for next time: my animal face was 6" high x 9" wide. When I turned the hood right side out I lost the cat's ears. Makes her look like shes got her ears back and is mad! #2 is that Costco towels are really thick and with the multiple layers of towel, most machines probably wont be able to sew through them.
Thanks again.
I wish I could like this video more than once. These are great presents. Thank you!
