    Note, it's not a coincidence that your HDMI port died, you fried it by powering the camera and monitor from the same source. You need to power them on sequentially, or just get a cable with some kind of a resistor. Even though this is an old video, you may want to pin this info somewhere to make sure others don't make the same mistake. Cheers,

    cool rig, i can see a few areas we could improve -
    1) HDMI lock - not having it locked is quite a dangerous way to shoot in action
    2) top handle on nato rail - that way you can find the exact point where its balanced, very important if you want to use it with easy rig
    3) the focusing system seems to be good only for this use -maybe it would be better to use something like nucleus nano in case you would like to use it with separate focus puller/or on a gimbal. This solution seems to be just as functional as just a regular old follow focus.

    I could be wrong but, going d tap straight to the 12v input on the camera is what caused my pocket to become faulty for some reason. Ever since I’ve stopped doing this after repaired it never happened again. I’m starting to think more and more that’s what causes it considering you’ve had the same problem? I’ve since then started powering mine with a fotga npf battery plate to 12v input.
    I think when you use v mount batteries it’s probably safer to use a electronic v mount plate that has a labeled 12volt output.

  • @bunnyhallow
    @bunnyhallow 4 года назад

    Tilta has a gold mount battery base plate specifically designed for that cage where the battery plate is situated at the bottom of the camera, They made it so that the camera monitor is not blocked and have external monitor be used by the AC on side. Also folding the v mount battery up and down are two added steps for changing settings.

    Came back for the tilting v-lock, have played with mounting the vlock on the bottom for when you're shooting 90% of the time easyrig. This is a pretty common issue among pro cameras. The only real way to avoid it is to make sure all video cables are disconnected before attaching or detaching power sources to the camera or monitor. There's a really informative post explaining it on the bmpcc subreddit, and there's a paper from arri explaining the issue in their cameras as well. These V-mounts and the cumbersome characteristics are totally unnecessary if u don’t want to bulk up to a cinema sized rig. @@r.m.selvey6251 I use 15mm rails on both sides of the lens to mount what I need, such as the NPF battery plate that a dummy adapter is running power to the camera. Then I use the other rail to mount a handle towards the front of the lens which is a huge help with weight distribution. Unless you want to bulk up and flex or add a lot of weight, there's just no need for vmount if you don't mind swapping out a handful of batteries that take up a fraction of the space.

    I am the only one who hates rigs? :-D Matter of fact, still using a Canon C100 and looking very hopeful into the upcoming C70. I want a "self contained" camera system, with no hanging cables, external monitors and batteries and so on. They are ok for people making movies on a set, but if you shoot documentaries, reports, if you have to travel, to pack and unpack the camera very quickly... a rig like this can become a nightmare.

    I would put something mounted maybe in the upper part of the cage to protect the screen from the battery which when closed could slam and damage the monitor

    What do you think about these Gimbals:
    - Gudson Moza Air 2S
    - ZHIYUN WEEBILL 3
    - DJI RS3 (Pro)
    What would be currently the best option to about 700-800 € for filming indoor and outdoor dance events, dance couples in daylight ?
    Camera and lens can be purchased flexibly - possibly Blackmagic Pocket 4k ?

  • @reddjinn911

    Just a chime in... this rig is fantastic. But if someone already has a monitor and doesn't want to invest in this Bluetooth solution, the Blackmagic app is an unbelievable way to access your menus while shooting. Additionally with the app, if you have a script supervisor on set that needs to manage slate data, you can pass the phone or tablet off to them. Just a thought. This would free up $700 for these other amazing assets! Great video tho!

    11:32 The HDMI died because it's dangerous to power the cam and the monitor from the same power source. I was wandering if this would be an issue while watching the video. Other people seemed to have that same problem. You can contain this problem by turning on the camera, and then connecting HDMI. And after you're done: disconnecting the HDMI and then turning off Power. At least that's what I heard. Even better would be a two battery solution.

    My HDMI also died on my first BMPCC4K. It seemed to happen when I used a cheap Dtap on Vmount brick to power the cam... Anyway, it appears to be a thing that’s happened to a few peeps. Nice set up btw

  • @Kyle_Evers
    @Kyle_Evers 4 года назад +1

    Doesn't this rig feel really to-heavy when you use it? With the monitor on top of the huge top handle, it seems like it'd be a nightmare to keep that thing stable. Also, how do you shoot handheld if you aren't able to press the camera up against your body? I mean I guess you could do that, but then you risk putting tons of pressure on the screen via the V-mount battery and the cables on the back are going to constantly get crushed. I hate to be "that guy," I just don't see how this rig is usable unless you're only shooting on a tripod.

    you are de 2nd youtuber I watch today telling the HDMI died on them, he said it was due to poor D-tap cable quality, but most people in the comments felt it was not, but most likely the v-mount battery was somehow sending some extra power thru the monitor and frying the HDMI output of the camera. Dis you find out what happened to yours?

    I think if you gonna invest like 5k into this setup for everything thats not a good deal. I think there are a lot of better choices in that pricerange that will not be as complicated as this. Still a good overview to see what good accesories for the BLCC4k could be ;)

  • @biskero
    @biskero 4 года назад

    An idea, why they do not make battery inside the Rods? maybe create larger section rods and put batteries inside, with some external plugs system. That way batteries are hidden and do not occupy other space around the rig. Also they could be swappable, like other electronics, you get 18650 or 21700, which are inside those bulky battery box.

    12'23> "nobody shoots like this"....well, except if you need to shoot someone without being in a low angle.
    it'salways the problem with those weist/chest handheld setups, its when filming people, especially in close shots, you end up in weird angles.
