Great review. It often annoys me that the comparison is to Dyson... as it speaks to the misconception that more power means better cleaning. Sure Dyson had tons of power, but it's not power and really it's has never been lack of power that has made a vacuum bad. It's how the power is utilized and mainly how the head of the vacuum is designed. Dysons can suck a carpet off its tacks... sure but is that practical? I have ruined more area rugs with a Dyson and switching heads to eliminate that problem is time consuming and annoying. The Shark has been a better vacuum because it has eliminated this issue so well. No having to switch vacuum heads and go from hard floor to area rugs to carpet without having to stop and switch heads is a game changer and Shark masters this and was the first to really do so. It had plenty enough power to call your for clean on its lowest power. We don't need to suck the dust off the moon, just on our floor. It's a misnomer to compare Dyson as it's tech, though revolutionary at its launch, is just hyped now. Laser lights don't help the vacuum, it's a gimmick. In truth Dyson hasn't really improved upon their tech in years, it's all asteics and illusionary stuff like digital displays and fancy lights that it plays off its original design of suction power. No doubt, Dysons can suck and better than most, but you still have to REDUCE that power in order to utilize it properly. It's like having a sports car for family. If you can get everyone in, in an emergency you'll get there faster, but in general it's just not practical. Don't pay for brand names, and don't upgrade just to do so. I still have my Vertex both corded and cordless, Stratos just didn't have enough improvements to justify the upgrade cost wise. This new cordless from Shark is nifty but it's ALL new, every part is different and all the extras are sold out, they weren't ready for this launch. I don't buy a vacuum unless I can at the time of purchase but filters, and brush rolls to replace while the original are drying from the change out. There's no pet attachment for it... which most people have. While it's nice to see it's improvements and new tech, it's function is limited both in availability for its required changing elements and the price point to do so. Maybe later... but by then it's upgrade will have immerged. This whole cell phone induced upgrade every year is annoying. It's a big investment, all these things... make them last and don't launch new ones until it's ready for all aspects of purchase. And really don't just upgrade to compete, make a good product that can last at least 5 years and is easy to replace parts on. Which until 2020, Shark had the market on. Now...meh... it's over rated. They give no loyalty to its customers and that is my biggest issue with them. I'll upgrade to who ever really introduces the next REAL upgrade in vacuuming but until then... I'll stick to my Vertex. People need to stop encouraging this yearly upgrade trend... it's too expensive and doesn't encourage quality products made to last.
Well said 👍 yearly upgrades are very expensive... and also negates the claim of the makers guarantee system I mean they claim to make a product last for a certain duration of years and they don't give the time to actually use to its fullest and tempt customers to buy new tech...
@NovaDoll I didn't use the word lazy in my comment, neither did the other commentor? Do, perhaps you don't get the points because you are reading words into things that don't apply?
I luv my Dyson and I have shark products. The good thing that will come from shark making cordless vacuums is it will make Dyson lower there prices to compete .
Thank you for clearing up the confusion with the Shark Detect 1000 series and the 3000 series. Some reviewers were glossing over and the stores aren’t so helpful either because the print on the series is so freaking small and if that wasn’t enough, the store often puts these labels as if we’re all going to get on our hands and knees on the floor. Why they can’t do them at least at waist level is beyond me.
Thank you very much for your reviews. I came across your channel and I have to say your reviews are IMHO First Class!!! Keep up the great work! Best Greetings from Lower Austria :-)
Hi nice video review, do you have any issues of dust getting into the triangle shape section inside the collection bin, which then can’t be cleaned or emptied? Thanks
@@TheFrenchGlow please help me choose! I have 3 small children and I really need a powerful vacuum cleaner for every day.. I can’t choose Shark or dayson Gen5 detect? thanks!
Great video! I have all hard wood floors and I'm looking for a cordless vacuum that is reasonably priced and picks up larger things like Cheerios. I've had a few vacuums and all they do is push larger particles around. Which one would you recommend?
It did not work for me didn't change modes and automatically was dumping crumbs out when I moved from carpet to floor. It makes a loud noise now I returned it. I was not satisfied does not work for Carpet and it automatically keeps shutting off.
Do you have to go that slow to get it to pick up that mess? If so what good is it? A real world test at the speed most of us vacuum would be much m ore useful
Hi there! I want to buy a cordless stick vacuum and as I'm on a tight budget, like most people, which Dyson has the same suction power as the Shark Detect Pro? Would really like a Dyson but it's way out of my price range. I have a mix of carpet and polished floorboards. I currently have a corded older Dyson. Many thanks.
Do you have even tested the Miele triflex hx2? I wonder whether it would be more practical for its possibility to keep it standing up without the need to put it down on the floor.
Glad shark is competing with Dyson. It gives people who don’t have the money for a Dyson to get a good cordless vacuum. It also makes Dyson think about lowering prices alittle .. win win for everyone
Great review, I am potentially considering this vacuum though I would want it to have a slightly bigger dust bin and longer battery life. On a side unrelated note, do you mind sharing where your purple shirt is from? Would make a great present!
Great detailed and quality review! You deserve more subscribers. I just subbed myself. Based on all the deals today on Amazon, what stick vacuum would you recommend?
Hi! Thank you. Corded, I love the Shark Rocket Deluxe Pro or the Shark Rocket self cleaning brushroll. Cordless, it depends on budget. II use the Dyson V12 Slim Detect as my day to day (also the one that dyson was offering it for $429 ish), sub $40, Bissell Featherweight, sub $100, its not cordless and more upright but you cannot go wrong with the Shark NV105 Navigator. $200, I like the shark detect pro but standing the motor on the handle has been a challenge for me. I much prefer lighter and reliable to short battery life and hard to carry.
My daughter works for Home Depot in the flooring department. She has been advised by 3 or 4 manufacturer's representatives that using a Dyson will void the warranty. Hi! At the same price, the stratos is more versatile, easier to fully clean and versions with the odor neutralizer do work (but adds another feature you have to refill). The detect pro can be paired with a self empty bin but after owning the Samsung bespoke, my guess is that most people won't want it since emptying the small dustbin on the detect pro is easier. my guess is the detect pro will be sub $200 in a few months as the technology is similar to the shark wandvac systems.
Aspirateur CHARK Bonjour.
Also, Dyson's are more expensive with high suction power and most of sharks claims are about how great the suction is. Sharks might be cheaper and for many, a better value but Dyson has more suction across their entire stick vac line.
