This by miles, the best Gundam build I've ever witnessed. Thank you. It was an honor and also a heartbreak to watch and know I'll never have anything like this in my possession.
Rick, this is lovely and amazing work . I wish I had the time again to build Gundam again, because it was so fun and somehow brings back the joy and satisfaction. You are truly an inspiration to everyone who loves toys, gundams, and as well as builders :)
Bruh, watched the whole damn thing, and the static grass applicator is where my jaw hit the floor. LOL. BADASS! Awesome build. I never really watched or read Gundam very much, even though I was into anime, but I was into Evangelion, and I'm obsessed with robots in general. I want to take one of these massive kits and build a robot out of it with actual Dynamixel servos and a controller, so that it could change poses at the press of a button, walk around the room, etc. I used to have the Robotis Bioloid humanoid kit with AX-12 Dynamixel servos, and it was amazing.
@@rick_do_things If I can get a hold of another Bioloid kit, I will most certainly give it a shot. They're fairly expensive, but the one I had gotten, I got a hell of a deal on it. I can do the robotics side of things, building, programming, etc. but I haven't done very much kit bashing. Though, I think it's something I could get into. If I were to build one of these, factoring in the cost of a couple of 1/60 scale Gunpla and a Bioloid kit, it would likely cost around $2000-$2500 worth of components alone, and could very likely take me several months to build, especially having to modify the Gunpla kits to fit over the Bioloid frame. I'm going to start looking into it. If it turned out well, it's something that could very well sell for five times that amount, however. The Bioloid robot can be remote controlled with a Playstation 4 controller, so one could literally walk their 30cm tall robot around the room. It has 18 degrees of freedom, meaning, it moves at every joint you would expect it to, ankles, knees, hips, torso, shoulders, elbows, neck, and even multiple degrees at each joint. If I were to work on inverse kinematics for it, the robot could actually actively balance itself based on input from the servos in conjunction with the gyro and accelerometer in the controller, essentially like what Boston Dynamics robots do (try to keep their balance when kicked or forced off axis)
The weathering made the panels of Gundam look metal, like a Jaeger's. Though what really sells it is the amount effort done for the effect and how he made the set. Its soo good
Great job making a kit with LEDs and not having wires sticking around everywhere. I was thinking of finding some kind of magnetic connectors like on the Apple computers. Those could be well hidden.
One thing that would be cool is if (and this is just me spit ballin' here as an idea for future projects, or whatever) it would be possible to have two tiny magnets in one or each of the beam saber hilts and in each of the palms acting as contacts so you could wire the beam sabers for lighting. Having the saber blades light up would look AMAZING!
I wish I could do something like this, maybe one day. Truly amazing work, it looks incredible and your efforts truly paid off. Beautiful model, should sign this up in a competition or something.
Great work on this kit! I’ve been going back to your video as a reference for myself. Gonna try a similar diorama for mine. Have you done a tutorial on the chipping and weathering? I tried some but it didn’t come out as great as your effects.
You’re welcome brotha, yeah I think a video tutorial on that as well as a diorama & led tutorial would be great for your channel. I’ve searched around on RUclips for some tutorials but I like how you’ve done your formats on these videos. I watched another guy’s channel on here (otakubuilder) that my nephews and I also enjoy watching to get tips and inspiration. When this whole pandemic hit, I along with my brother and nephews (17 & 10) began building model kits to help get by. Since then my nephews love building and watching videos on here for tips. You know how difficult it is to get kids nowadays to have an interest in something that doesn’t include iphones and video games. 😂
So, this Gundam is a post-war model, not in combat use anymore? Your painting and detailing skills are amazing, all the aging and weathering is beautiful. If not in your display, it should be put on show in a museum or public showing. Excellent!!! 👍
Dude I only found this on my recommended area after watching multiple custom videos. Ur work looks awesome. You actually inspired me to actually paint when I said I wasnt going to so thank you Have you thought of doing a custom megasize chat zaku in the same way you the rx
OMG. It looks awesome. I was thinking of getting a mega size as it is cheaper than PG and I suspect the parts are bigger and thus easier to customise. Great video.
@@rick_do_things Is it? I thought it should be a oversize HG. Should be also easier for younger kids to learn how to build gunpla... I meant at basic level with the mega size as parts are bigger and thus should be easier to handle.

That’s so cool, you have to love that lawn, too. Makes you want to look around to ask the pilot why is his robot parked on the freshly cut lawn. “...No regard for lawn maintenance...”😜👍. Awesome job.
