- Users have requested I show how I access my Steam Deck (SSH) with the highly recommended X-Plore File Manager on Android.
You will need to have SSH set up and working:

... and of course your Steam Deck has to be on and awake (hence, SSH running) to access it by any device over SSH.

Note: Depending on what version of X-plore you're using, a small in-app donation may be required to use SSH File Transfer. I beg you to support this application as it is worth your small donate. However, if you want to "try before you buy", use an older version (4.22 should do it) before the feature was changed to donate only.
I absolutely love this file manager on Android. Very versatile. Good to know the SteamDeck is accessible this way!

Thank you so much for the nice comment. Yeah I think X-Plore is finally starting to get some press, especially now that some of those other file managers are turning out to be spywareIabx other nasties. It's a harder sell now that some things are locked behind a donation, but the guy's got to eat. And I am completely stunned at how people will simply refuse to use a product if they have to pay anything for it. It's very disheartening to see where we're going.

Mine gives me a timed out error immediately after pressing it and my steam deck says ssh is enabled and running
Does it work with a Windows PC? Are you using IP or machine name? Can you verify if your Deck and phone are on the same network and same subnet? Drop into the discord ... we can help you better there.
Sadly the X-Plore app forces you to watch ads or pay to fully use the app...
It was definitely better when it was free .. but even devs have to eat, right? I love the product so much I've donated like 5 times :D
How do I set the SSH password?

You set that on the Deck from Konsole with the command "passwd".
The option "internal storage" doesn't show up for me in the app, can't access my files on my phone for whatever reason.
Interesting ... check the configuration and make sure ROOT ACCESS is DISABLED. That should help you out!
Very helpful video for someone without access to a PC to transfer files to my Deck. I've set everything up as you described but I'm receiving the following error. I've double checked the settings and still having an issue. Any idea what could be causing this? Thanks for any help you can give.

Do I need to enable ssh in steamdeck on terminal? Like sudo systemctrl enable --now sshd?

Why after i type passwd and enter i can't text again? I try input the password but keyboard not responding
It's working. This is a security feature. When typing the password there is NO feedback ... the cursor doesn't move at all. Just type and hit enter - it should work.

Use the lowest version of proton that you can. Proton compatibility layers change by the minute so we have to be a little bit flexible on these sorts of tutorials.
Hey man, thanks for the vid. I did change my password and followed these instructioms but it just won't connect. I have triple checked the ip address and it's the same but just says "failed to connect" as soon as I hit test. Any ideas?
And you're sure SSH is working? Can you SSH from a PC or any other source.
@@Darkuni Okay thanks, I managed to get it working. Only thing is now I'm trying to copy a file to the microsd slot on the deck. Any idea what that would be called? It doesn't seem like a standard file name
@@MrKnightlore check RUN/MEDIA/MMCBLK0P1 (or something close to that). That is the SD card mount point.

Alas more functionality seems to be getting locked up. You can find older version APK with the functionally not locked up. That said? I've donated a lot. I use it everyday...
How do i check my username?

You should have done that when you set up SSH on your Deck. I have videos showing how that works. You were able to set up SSH without a password?
