CORRECTION AND SUGGESTION CHANGE!: Hey Everyone. Apologies for this one mistake. I overlooked the poor translation - "HEALS" on kinsect does not mean amount of your health regen - It is the kinsect stamina regen speed. Suggestion Change: Instead of those who use recall kinsect, I would suggest POWDER KINSECT USERS to consider the lvl15 kinsect - the more powders you can produce faster, the larger your dmg will be and quicker paralysis stuns. Assist Kinsects thus have very little to no benefits from lvl15 since you usually give enough time before another heavy attack. Complete oversight on my part. Thank you to those who pointed out the error in the comments. I'll do better.
While Kinsect levels are fine, a part of me misses breeding Kinsects and get all whacky effects. I remember back in Generations I used the Ukanlos IG a lot because you could make a Kinsect that give a a whopping 30% affinity when grabbing a white extract, nullifying the negative affinity of the weapon and it was very fun to use. Things like made me wish we had nectars back, just not as convoluted as 4U
Kinsects in general were wild back in GU, lol. On top of the speed one that gave you 30% affinity and the balance one giving party buffs, there was the attack one that allowed red extract to restore weapon sharpness every time you collected it. And then there was my personal favorite, the weight kinsect, giving you high-grade earplugs and hero armor with orange extract and adding a phial-like burst on every kinsect hit. Also the fact that you could pick out the exact stats you wanted for kinsects back then was pretty sweet too
@@kokayinewsome9308 when you collected nectars back in the 4U to gen u, you could upgrade the kinsect to different kinsect trees to get the bug you want.
Thank you! Complete oversight on my part. I have made a correction post and will add an annotation to the video. Apologies and once again, thanks for pointing this out!
Very thorough and informative as always! Another interesting thing to keep in mind about the new speed kinsects is that they retain charge after awakened kinsect attack, while the chain attack versions don’t. So kinsect throw with kinsect slash as a follow up can do about 150 extra damage with foliacath compared to grancathar on a high element weapon.
Very informative as always! I'm not a particularly good IG user, but I've been messing around with speed kinsects just for fun and I've found something interesting. Speed kinsects do extra damage when doing kinsect slash if they are changed in the same way they would do it if you were to just send them flying to attack the monster, right? Well, not really. Apparently, kisect slash interacts in an interesting way with "chain attack" kinsects. Usually, they do a bunch of smaller attacks instead of a big one. However, with kinsect slash, they do a big attack (comparable to that of other "charged" speed kinsects) and they they follow up with their chain attack. I've done some quick testing in the training room and I've found that chain-attack kinsects consistently do the highest damage when doing aerial combos because of this charged attack. I know that speed kinsects are considered pretty much a meme, but I thought it was a cool interaction and I would love to hear what more experienced IG users think!
Informative video! However, just want to confirm, I believe “Heal” refers to how fast a Kinsect can regenrate stamina right, and not how much it can heal you with Recall Kinsect. This is in base Rise, was this changed in Sunbreak?
No, you’re absolutely right, no change afaik (but then again I only got base Rise a couple weeks before Sunbreak, but it still seems to work like that)
No you are correct! That was an oversight on my part. I completely forgot about that poor translation (It tricked me a year ago in base Rise and got me again T__T ) I have made a pinned post for the correction and suggestion change. I'll add an annotation to the video. Thank you for pointing this out!
Thank you thank you!!!! This is something I've been thinking about because I only like glaives with level 15 but was wondering if it was even worth it, thanks again ⚔️💪
that clip at the start: in what world would Diving Wyvern not be a better option? Diving Wyvern does more damage than awakened kinsect attack and imo is WAY easier to set up- you just need to dodge away from a monster and you'll always be able to easily jump back in with kinsect slash. why are people acting as though Awakened Kinsect doesn't do half the damage of Diving Wyvern for a more complex set up requiring you to be vulnerable on the ground? am I going crazy here?
Been having non-meta silly fun with the kinsects as main focus and was wondering if any skills affect them in any way. Things like slugger, stamina thief, partbreaker... anything else? You already ruled out element up for boosting sever kinsect elemental damage. Does ANY skill affect them in any way?
Sadly no. They're pretty much fixed values. I've tested Slugger myself and it didn't change any values or if it did, it's so small you won't notice it until a fourth or fifth knock on a monster and at most it's one extra hit. Haven't tested partbreaker myself honestly but given most skills don't work, I'll assume it doesn't. I'll give it a check sometime this week and get back if I find anything
With regards to status insect glaives, do the severed kinsects also do more status damage like they do element? Would it be worth it to use a speed severing kinsect in this case or stick with blunt for multiple effects?
"Finally, something for Speed Kinsect users to rejoice about" Ah yes. I can hear both of them crying out in joy! (I joke, but sure, I'll give Lv. 15 Ele Foliacath a try!)
Let me know if I’m wrong but I was very much certain that the wording on the kinsects aren’t great and heal doesn’t have anything to do with healing you (aka recall wirebug), but how fast it recharges it’s stamina
ahhhh It appears so. I'm making a pinned post about it. My bad on error - that is a very poor translation but either way I should not have overlooked that. Thanks for the clarification!
The Rarity 7 Sever Powder Kinsect is the blast kinsect. It also has much more dmg than the blunt one. So while lady tower can KO and para, Bilbo does almost double the dmg on vortex bombs plus blast procs.
@@SkySenseiVB True true, but I'm guessing the slash itself doesn't do anything special in the way it does for assist kinsects and element. Thanks for the reply and for the excellent video :)

For non-element, any of the blunt kinsects work well. Deciding which one kinda comes down to play style in my opinion. speed will get you KOs very quick, Powder will deal good dmg, but also get KOs and Paralysis stuns, Assist will take longer to get a KO but its the least hassle, easy to keep your buffs up with the new bonus, and still adds good dmg

I play with non max shelling level gunlance all the time and still clear regular quests in 10 mins and afflicted in 20 usually. There's really no need to eek out every bit of damage possible in this game right now. Some of the title updates will likely require more optimized builds but I feel like the current community obsession with max dps is a bit misguided and limiting people's experience with the game which is unfortunate. Just my two cents anyway
