Tip for Dual Blades: You can be in demon mode infinitly with no stamina. If you have demon flight equiped you can press A to fly up and then A to do the bayblade move. When you hit the ground press A towards the monster and then A again to do the demon flight finisher again. If you hit the monster you can infinitly do this withouth Stamina.
Theres is multiple ways to stay in Demon Mode withouth Stamina, like using shrouding vault to pull yourself to the monster after you hit the ground if it moves away, or using spiral slice into Demon flight, but this one is a very easy one.
Handy tips for Gunlance that not many know: 1. On maps with breakable blockades, which you normally use large barrel bombs to clear, you can use your wyvern's fire to clear them if you forgot your bombs. 2. The long wind down animation after bullet barrage can be shortened by spamming reload. 3. Performing the overhead slam into full burst combo can actually be delayed for around a second before you press full burst. This will allow you to better control especially when the monster moves due to flinches and help you land your fullbursts better.
Note on the fanning maneuver + cluster bomb trick. You dont have to swap to cluster mid maneuver. You just have to not press the aim button with the clusters selected. Instead you press the aim button mid silkbind. Feels easier to execute for me at least.
quick tip (dunno if this is already mentioned yet so...): 2 stage morph slash can be used even if you have absolutely no sword gauge, making it a very reliable charging method while keeping up your combo
[Hammer] In yellow stance, when you perform Spinning Bludgeon: Charge (the new Sunbreak swap skill), hold ZR while spinning to build up charge levels for blue stance. Press A after the third & final hit to swap stances, and you will be in blue stance with an instant level 3 charge. This is useful if you want to combo into attacks such as Charged Brutal Big Bang or Impact Crater.
As a lance main, that tip is actually neat and can probably open new attack windows for me. The last tip about stacking boosts from spiral thrust and anchor rage is interesting but not particularly viable in most cases.
For cb I knew some tip by experience: 1. Morphing advance has hyper armor as the start of the animation, so if you want to tank the monster’s range attack while getting close to them, it’s a good choice. 2. For axe hopper, the moment you are landing on the ground, you still can release SAED. And this SAED have longer reach than normal axe hopper’s mid air SAED. So if you realize you miscalculated the distance, you can still salvage some damage.
I know both of these I normally used Morphing advanced to get pass roars & live some atks (I'm on auto advanced if I see roar coming) air dash as hype too before 2nd air spin (so longer armor) The hopper thing is why I give my self a 2 sec air time before I super (if I feel bad about my jump I can just switch to sword mid air to be ready to fight)
@@sanjaeharris5352 Why MA when you can just guard point and bust out a quick AED during the roar? Just because you're not in a position to SAED doesn't mean you can't get a nice quick chonk with an Offensive Guard proc in here and there.
@@rainbowkrampus I'm a cb main that never blocks or counters so only thing I can do.i get great time on runs without even countering so just lossing 1 min or less The only skills I need for my style is load shells 2 & maybe artillery (which is still rare on my sets) there is more then 1 play style u know CPP is next to useless to me personally I hop all the way .I know all the up sides of CPP but it does not fit me ( so no telling me how great it or counter builds are plz) Do not assume every1 running counter sets.
For charge blade, after counter peak performance, you don't have to go into condensed element/spinning slash or SAED. By pressing A on switch or B on xbox, you can do an axe smash which comes out pretty quick and can lead into other actions. Knowing this, it becomes a lot easier to counter attack strings like Nargacuga's double tail slam or any of Valstrax's combos.
Tip for the HBG. The crouching shot while mostly useless can come in handy sometimes for firing many consecutive status shots or sticky ammo since it allows you to ignore your typical clip size.
1 more tip for HBG user. You can do a small bomb+counter like GS, but the timing is tight. After you put the bomb you have to quickly unseath the weapon and mash R1+triangle to activate counter shot.
you want to turn your back to the monster during sacred sheathe because you move further faster backwards and when you release it you can still hit behind you
Additional notes on the LS Sacred Sheathe, is that the attack can also be in whichever direction you are holding when you release the attack, and you have super armor during the attacks. Since you can attack in a direction other than the one you are facing, if you need to dodge/move in a direction after sheathing, it's "best" to face opposite that direction, since the dodge backwards is a greater distance
Bonus bit about the LS Sacred Sheathe cancelling thing: if you get the timing right, you will get the counter effect from the Sacred Sheathe release as normal; I was fighting a Malzeno one time and accidentally pulled that off multiple times in a row because I countered with SS, did a Roundslash follow up, and cancelled the sheathing animation with SS, which countered another monster attack. If, unlike me, you're actually GOOD at Longsword you can do this on purpose and avoid being ruined by Malzeno's multiple tail thrusts (and other monster attacks!).
Both sheaths can do that cancel (most don't know because they helm junkies) Been doing since base rise & I'm not even a LS main Instead of using counter to counter atks in base game I used s slash to counter on loop for a 4- 7 hit combo to monster in center.
@@sanjaeharris5352 True! The main reason I figured out the Sacred Sheath cancelling is because I used the Special Sheath as a cancel for those very things, and it became a sort of reflexive response! It really just comes down to personal preference as to which one you want to use.
i like to use SilkBind Shockwave as a counter since you have hyper armor pretty much from start to finish, still take damage but its great for afflicted explosions to keep DPS up
GunLance’s Reverse Blast also gives you i-frames during the start-up animation & hyper armor during beginning of the dash. This skill also works very well with Hellfire Cloak, giving you more damage & free knock-downs throughout the hunt. This is why it’s a meta skill on Normal Shelling GL.
I thought this was widely known already but a friend just discovered it recently so I thought I'd probably share just to be sure For Dual Blades' Shrouded Vault, after doing the input and your hunter is pulling themselves, you can actually input any direction and when you do the evade your hunter will vault towards the direction you're holding. It makes Vaulting charging monsters move worth it
I actually had figured out most of these trying out the weapons for the first time! The LBG, DB, IG and GL ones were new for me. The HBG tip is my fav actually bc I love using Normal Shots on HBG more than anything, so having Crouching Fire with it is just pure bliss, especially when transitioning from Wyvernheart.
Also the y+b surge slash finishing combo for GS hits multiple points on a monster, so you can hit the head/neck on the initial hit, but hit the back with the final hit. Gives you a chance of multiple part breaks in 1 move
gunlance is one of my favorite because of RBD, with proper position it's possible to hit the monster with the shell used, and at the same time hit with the shield, then slam as soon as possible then burst your shells
Lance tip: when doing your forward guard hop, you have a set amount of stamina you can lose. This means if you’re getting hit by a multi attack, it actually makes sense to just hop into it and only take a fraction of the stamina loss. In the event you aren’t running enough guard and get shoved, then you can go into full block and be completely untouchable
I have another tip for Lance. If you press the block button (R2/RT/ZR) right as you hit the ground after doing a wirefall, you will go straight into either Dash Attack or Shield Charge. I stumbled onto this by accident after trying to guard after wirefalling.
This 1 is not for fighting but it is fun to use With cb if u have evade extender 3 & 3 wire bugs u can Morphing advanced & roll loop to move fast mid fight Funny thing is if monster runs this loop is a little faster than a none dashing dog (can not tell how many times I got to monster before my team with weapon drawn lol)
For hunting horn there is a simple DPS combo for max sharpness, B Y+B perfom. With overhead smash this combo does high damage and if you use echo mode with a healing or Sonic barrier this is super good for team support
I don't know if this is common but on Bow, you can carry your charge lvl by doing a skill swap evade or perfectly timed redirection. You can delay the timing to regain more stamina while still maintaining the current charge on manual skill swap evade
Another tip for the lance, when you successfully insta-block an attack, you can press B, or the equivalent on PC, to exit and open up for you to insta-block again. This is how you can insta-block a multi-hit attack.
The Bow Stake Thrust is absolutely a game changer. Monsters drop like flies with the amount of KO damage you can rack up, Especially usedul for monsters that need to be KO'd out of their super saiyan forms.
The partbreaker multipliyer for the GS new combo is interesting. Do the other weapons have something similar too? Some high partbreaker moves? If yes, is there some data values on how much partbreaker it adds? I really enjoy tearing down monsters, it reminds me a bit of HZD in a way! Especially cutting tails, so satisfying!
The best one I know of is Bows Dragon Piercer, it has a whopping 300% (3x) part dage modifier. It also pierces, allowing you to damage multiple parts with each shot. Plus full on dragon piercer builds are just fun
Tip for Dual Blades: Demon Mode is weaker than Feral Demon Mode but it charges the Archdemon gauge faster so use Demon mode to fill the gauge then switch swap and continue the fight in Feral Demon Mode
I see a lot of charge blade speed runners guard point with 1 sliver of health and get no chip damage. does guard point prevent chip damage on all attacks? any attacks? some attacks? Are there any videos on the nuances of shield and chip damage?
Imma drop this for charge blade. You can actually SAED from regular guard instead of guard point for quite most of monster attack tho. Dont know this is a bug or im just late to know this as i dont recall i can do this on Iceborne😂
Been doing that since 4U .I was self thought without internet so did not know how to guard point well I still not like using guard points much (if I even block 1 time a fight that is rare) or any cb counter skills (I hop till they drop)
I am glad its an interesting tip for you! Its not always useful but in some situations, especially when running low guard levels, it can come in real handy! If i am not mistaken, it is also a thing in world.
Tips for the bow you don’t need stamina surge or constitution in your builds. Just max out your spirit birds for stamina, eat for felyne fighter, use dash juice and you’re good to go. Also if you perform a perfect timed dodge bolt you can quickly get up to max charge for maximum damage. Terrible misinformation from your part. Maxing your spiribirds does nothing to help your stamina recovery speed. You should always run SS3 in your bow builds its as important as constitution. Now for the constitution bit... cons2+fighter4+juice maxes your stamina. Getting figther 4 is 70% chance fuck that odds where as figther 2 is almost guaranteed. So if you don't wanna waste time doing the arena shuffle you should have cons 4 although i usually go for cons 3. I have never spent 10 min each hunt to collect those spiribirds to max out my stamina in 800 hours of rise+sunbreak so I don't know how much it equates in terms of constitution but even than thats too much of an hassle to replace a bow core skill for another.
