Hats off to you, Mark. Even as someone who lives in Surabaya, I can't handle spicy foods as good as you. Fun fact: since chili is loved by most people in East Java, where Surabaya is located, it becomes one of the key factors in calculating inflation rate in the province. Its price fluctuation affects significantly to the overall food cost there.

Indonesian food is really the best. I absolutely love it all. No wonder, my dear mom loved her time in Surubaya, and never forgot that city. She was amazing because she ate very hot sambal with rice and one really hot chili padi with each bite. She and her brother, my uncle were just chili crazy. I can take it quite hot, but I could never have a very hot sambal and chilly padi, in the same bite! I simply love Mark’s dedication, and appreciation for chilies, and sambal and peppers!can’t stop watching this Surubaya series! 😋 😋 😋
In the US, my wife and I grow our own lemon basil, make tempeh, and import Tuban Terasi (Blachan shrimp paste like). For us, sambal is a must. It is my love language to my wife. That's why I learned how to cook the sambal she loves most. Yes, I am from nearby Surabaya: Mojokerto, to be precise.
I'm so happy to see this video, Mark. I missed my home town so bad as I had to move to another country now. THANKS SO MUCH AGAIN AND KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK 👍 👌 😀
I love you Mark, been following your journey for years!! Your enthusiasm, everything about your journey is so awesome. The ONLY thing that annoys me about you is how you eat crab lmaooooo... but man you have been an inspiration to me to travel the world the way you do! Cheers!
Omgoodness!! The sambal looks so amazing and the combination of veggies with protein is just a perfect harmony of flavors. The one that really had me is the chili crab omg it reminds me of my mother in laws crab curry I absolutely love very much. Thanks Mark for this authentic phenomenal upload of flavors. Meskipun pengalaman kulinerku cuma sedikit, tapi aku berani bilang juara kuliner pedas adalah Jawa Timur. Apalagi Surabaya, yang kuliner pedasnya didominasi pelaku usaha kuliner Dari Madura. Juara pokoknya!! Tangan Madura kalo bikin sambel itu suedeeeppp.
Hi Mark, i like how adventurous you are in trying so many kind of foods, especially street foods. But your spice tolerance seems to be out of this world 😅. I'm sure soon enough you'll be expert in sambals. What's your most & least favorite sambal btw? 🌶️ I've been wanting to try "sego sambal mak yeye" for so long!. Kinda jealous that you already tried almost everything here in Indonesia. haha Wishing you good times & safe trip! 🖤
Not far from Surabaya, theres a small town called Tuban which famous for their Spicy Eel. Fried or steam, they had it all. Plus with another seafood heaven like fish egg or crab egg. Also they had the best crab curry in all province. Ofcourse in super spicy form too. I recommend you to try one. It's about 3 hrs away from Surabaya.
Hey Mark. You definitely enjoyed this one. This is your favorite.. #Spicy You also were thoroughly having fun.. Thanks for sharing all the sambal. I can't!! Hell of spicy, I would try the mild one tho. Enjoy this Saturday.. 🐞🤗😋
My brother accidentally splashed that spicy chili juice from the crab straight into his eyes, and was totally freaked out. I remember he was screaming and crying, trying to wash down his eyes in the bathroom. I think that crab juice splashing equivalent to getting the pepper spray, and left him traumatized with the crab from bu karmini😂

Hey Mark! You make all these foods look and taste so good! Thank you for coming to Indonesia to enjoy our local food
Gotta love Indonesia! Sambal everything! 👍👍

Wow …All of the meals look super delicious and incredible . I wish I can visit Indonesia one day and try all the meals.I thought Indonesian don’t like spicy that much. Cuz most of my Indonesian friends can’t eat spicy foods. But this is amazing 🩵
Indonesia = Spicy Heaven
I've been wanting to try "sego sambal mak yeye" for so long!. Kinda jealous that you already tried almost everything here in Indonesia. haha
Wishing you good times & safe trip! 🖤
Thank you very much. Sego Sambal Mak Yeye lives up to its name, it's so good!
It's about 3 hrs away from Surabaya.
i love seeing how happy you are eating all of those sambal
Your childlike excitement over food is very much appreciated
Hey Mark. You definitely enjoyed this one. This is your favorite.. #Spicy You also were thoroughly having fun.. Thanks for sharing all the sambal. I can't!! Hell of spicy, I would try the mild one tho. Enjoy this Saturday.. 🐞🤗😋
Mark’s vid quality from transitions to editing are sooo upgraded now. You cook you!
My brother accidentally splashed that spicy chili juice from the crab straight into his eyes, and was totally freaked out. I remember he was screaming and crying, trying to wash down his eyes in the bathroom. I think that crab juice splashing equivalent to getting the pepper spray, and left him traumatized with the crab from bu karmini😂
so is he got PTSD ?
this proves that every corner of Indonesia always has delicious street food around. That's why it's the most populous island in the world.
Nih orang gak pernah gagal bikin orang ngiler kalo lagi makan 😂😂
Hi Mark, glad you’re back here again! In Surabaya, you definitely must try Kambing Oven Sunan Ampel. It’s a young goat thight in a oven, MUST TRY!!!
The fact that we get free food and travel videos on RUclips by Mark is truly a gift. 👏👏👏👏👏
Aaaa lovely videos , thank you for coming to indonesia ... you must back here as soon as you can ... i hope you read this, i'll pickup you on airport and give you another journey about our food❤❤❤
Indonesia has such amazing food. It sucks that its so underrated around the world, I think it's slightly better then Indian food

@@dr.swapnilbhoyar2206 Indonesian food taste way better than Indian, especially since the spices doesnt smell so strong like Indian food, the flavour are much more rich, and it's way cleaner than India . Plus, the people are actually one of the friendliest in the world, it's a lot safer than India. They actually knows what it means to respect others unlike you
Hey Mark! You make all these foods look and taste so good! I live in Geneva and must say Sambal is one of my favourites as it is not sweet, close to Sriracha which has garlic which I love, but unfortunately like so many Asian hot sauces, too much sugar sometimes! Thanks for your yummy, interesting videos ! 🌿
Thank you very much, glad you love sambal as well!
Surabaya sambal low sugar sir.. Every city in Indonesia very defferent.. ❤❤
What kind of sambal? There are so many kind of sambal.
@@pinkgangsta6157 There are many combinations of chili sauce in Indonesia. basically chilies and garlic and shallots. then there is added shrimp paste, lime, lemon leaves, peanuts, cashews, lemon, mango, durian, candlenuts, small shrimp, brown sugar and many more.
i moved to russia a year ago, and not even single day i don't miss these dishes from my country. You're absolutely correct, sambal is life.
There’s no overdose for you ! 😉
I think there’s no limit to the right things to eat.
Thank you Mark, for sharing.
Mark membuat video sambil bernostalgia dengan makanan Indonesia, terimakasih banyak mark sudah kembali membuat vlog di Indonesia
Been following you for years now! 😂
Every time you slightly fall to your right after a spoon of food, I can tell that's definitely tasty🤤
Indonesia is the best food culinary destination especially about spice. WELCOME TO INDONESIA MARK
Welcome back to Indonesia, Mark. I love the way you describe all the food you eat🤩
Thank you!
When I visit Thailand, its my dream to meet Mark and talk about food and travelling with him....thats the only reason I would like to visit Thailand
Mark, you're funny every time you taste a meal and say "ooow wooow" as an appreciation 😂
Hahaha, amazing video Mark, I loved it! Never actually replied to your videos, but I've been following you for the last 10 years or so. Everyday in the lunchbreak if there's a new vid it's the first thing I watch. Thanks for providing us these amazing videos throughout the years when I'm having my boring Dutch lunch 🤣! Loving this Indonesian food tour, my grandparents from my dad's side are from Indonesia, but unfortunately they're not with us anymore. Reminds me of when I was young and my grandma used to make these delicious chicken wings! Like you said, not battered, just straight in the hot oil. Keep up the amazing work you do and visually pleasing vids that pop up several times a week, you're the GOAT!
That’s why i like mark. Always come to indonesia to enjoy spicy food. 😁🤣
The real OG here is BUDI! Hands down he knows his city well. He knows where the locals come to eat. The places that he curated are the common place for locals to eat.
