    Unpopular opinion, probably: I wish that Subaru would quit with the giant screens that encompass drive modes and aircon. Some things just need knobs.

I can also justify talking sh** about Subarus as a 10 year ‘14 WRX owner (who went thru 1 motor rebuild (rod knock), 2 transmission rebuilds, 2 clutches, a steering rack, 2 wheel bearings) and now took over my wife’s ‘12 Forester (that also got a new motor @99k due to the oil consumption issue, but otherwise excellent), and we just got a ‘23 Honda Pilot, so I’ve been eyeing up new car reviews heavily for the past year.

    I have the 2022 SFW, I love the split screen display it has. The small upper screen in the dash is kind of a collection of everything that's going on in the car without having to stare down at the main screen. The main screen serves to display whatever function you are using; Media, map, radio, etc. I thought the split screen was a great idea. I am sorry to see that it will be discontinued.

    I'm pretty set on getting a Forester early next year and like this year's Sport trim moving to the bronze accents actually. I always liked the Sport trim features/value but felt the bright orange made it feel too 'young' styling-wise. Like others I'm not a huge fan of the front/grill styling but I can overlook it. The full touchscreen display scares me a bit like if after time these start working slow or less responsive. Definitely hope to test drive and compare with last year's model!

      Im on the same boat as you! Holding off on purchasing the Forester until I can take a look at the 2025 model at the dealer. I like the front and side alot. It's the back that is not sitting right with me. It's giving 2016-ish Toyota Rav4 vibes. They should've kept the rear of the 24 model. The bronze also matches alot more colors compared to the orange on the 24 Sport. The interior is also better in general. The infotainment screen will take some getting used to. Watching alot more videos and I can kind of notice it's alot more responsive now. That was my biggest gripe about it, that it looked laggy on camera.

    I am more in love with my '21 Sport now that I've seen the '25. This one looks RAV4-ish and I do not like the new roof rails being solid. Only guessing here but I had a '17 Honda CRV Touring that had similar roof rails that had pre-drilled holes for the cross bars - meaning that you could not widen or narrow the bars depending on the accessory you install on the roof. Not that it is a deal breaker, just limiting. He mentioned the drive train being similar to the 5th gen models. Boo. I am wondering if the towing capacity has standardized with the Wilderness models. That would nice.

  • @kateiluk5521
    @kateiluk5521 4 месяца назад

    My opinion on design:
    1. I like that they've changed the roof racks to be more practical with flush rails! (for the exception of models with sunroof)
    2. The middle of the car looks OK, I would say it looks quite generic
    3. I really liked the trim at the bottom of the car, its a pretty good design!
    4. The pattern inside looks cute
    To the old ppl who complain that they removed physical buttons:
    They actually didn't remove physical buttons, they just moved them. Majority of buttons located on steering wheel, a few on the driver's door and some near the tablet, some are also near gear stick. ALL PHYSICAL BUTTONS ARE PRESENT!
    You are not supposed to use tablet while driving! While driving you can only use it for:
    - maps/navigation
    - camera usage, eg while parking
    For ppl who afraid there could be problems as it's a new generation. They are NOT using new technology, so the chance of getting a problem is low. They've used this technology for years in subaru outback and now in crosstreck 2024.
    I personally like their changes, I think subaru have done a great job! (No I am not working for subaru, just personal opinion after test driving old forester and outback with new technology, i definitely wait for new forester)

    Love my Subaru and currently looking at upgrading my 2017 Outback for a 2024 Wilderness. I do find that in some ways Subaru are falling further behind with every new car launch. For example, 2025 model is finally getting full view exterior cameras for parking - multi-camera park assist is now old school and should be standard. EyeSight is still camera based and not laser which is more accurate and more reliable. No option to add ventilated leather seats to lower models - I'd love to have that option in a Wilderness model for those long summer days on logging roads. Panoramic moonroof is another option I would add if available. For their Wilderness models, it would be awesome to have a 120V converter option. Everyone will have their own opnion on styling but for me, this more boxy look takes away the sporty look of the 2024 that I like. The rim and highlight colours on the upper trim level is fuggly!

      After multiple road trips with my dog in an outback wilderness, I'm grateful subaru skips the ventilated seats in favor of something easy to clean. And I live in Arizona. I've gotten the backseat absolutely filthy, just a few minutes with soapy water and its like new. I've had ventilated seats on rentals and its not worth the tradeoff just for a little air up your backside

      @stuartclark7480 8 месяцев назад +1

      I get your perspective for sure. For us, we don't have kids and our small dog rides upfront. Our backseats stay folded down about 90% of the time. We have the ivory leather now and even though we do lots of hiking, camping and hours on dusty logging roads, its never been an issue for us. The idea of having it as an option (even if it has to be ordered) means that it can be more tailored to a wider clientele. I also realize that being a smaller sized car brand and fulfilling high demand inventory would make it more complicated.

If the design looks just like every other manufacturer (or a mix of them like this new one) what's the draw for Subaru? That's why GM killed off all of their sub-brands. They all looked the same anyway, so why have the overhead of marketing all of those brands? If Subarus look just like Toyotas with Subaru stickers on them, why bother?

    It looks like a Ford RAV4. No improvement in engine power, still no heated steering wheel when equipped with heated seats - you still need the top trim to get both, no heated rear seats, no improvement in camera, no panoramic sunroof, Toyota gear shifter, rear seats no longer recline (possibly an error?), no longer physical buttons for x-mode and heated seats. And buttons instead of dials for the climate controls is a step backwards. I just don't see where the improvements are, whilst everything else is a step back - I'll be keeping my 2022 Wilderness.

    It's not terrible...but it's not great. I like it more than the RAV4, but I'm not sure I like it more than the CRV. A few thoughts 1: Why are their not fog lights inside the bronze loops on the bumper? Looks cheap just filled in plastic. 2: I am SO happy it has cooling seats. It's one of the issues I have with the CRV. 3: I'm excited for the hybrid. 4: I do like the back. It's different. 5. Piano black is soo bad. Why do they keep putting that into cars? 6: The power is down...maybe the hybrid will help with that?
    Overall, I really like it. It'll be in the mix of new cars when we buy in the next two years.

I still think this channel is still one of the absolute top channels on RUclips. Sadly, I have to say that this is another vehicle I don't have much to say nicely about. Not really sure what's going on over at Subaru but they're really dropping the ball A LOT lately. Dropped the STI. No nose camera on their Wilderness Crosstrek. Designing a 2025 Subaru Explorer, etc. Again, love the video because it's done excellently, just not too pleased with Subaru lately. This new design has been well received by Japanese people. The current model's ugly front mask and crab-like taillights were criticized heavily. There are some impressions that it resembles something, but ironically, Ford has withdrawn from Japan, so the fact that it resembles Ford has not been talked about much. In fact, it seems to be much less ugly than the current model, and is being praised for its strength and solid feel. From a Japanese person living in Japan.

    Good that the best parts of the Forester stayed the same. There is no point of changing parts that work well already.

    I gotta be honest, I don't like this at all. It just all looks like a Ford Explorer, and it didn't help with the model inlay comment on the trunk (which is totally true btw!). I'm so sad they got rid of the orange sporty accents. The copper looks too brown to me and doesn't pair well with the "modernized" look that they're going for with all of the hexagonal accents. I do like the change in tech for Eyesight and the added cameras, but I still don't like the full touchscreen.
    All that said, I'm curious to see how it drives on the test course. I do have hopes for the wilderness edition (I feel like the copper accents would look really good on the wilderness).

    It looks good. The Foresters just keep getting better. My first Subaru was a 2001 SF5 I bought in 2006, and later we got my wife a 2015 (SJ) Premium, and I really liked both of them. My only complaint - and it's with all the new models - is how many controls are now integrated into the touch-screen display. For a company pushing safety, they are making us take our eyes off the road for every little adjustment. By comparison, I can completely adjust the cabin climate controls in my 2020 Impreza without taking my eyes off the road; the large climate control dials even have detents so it lightly clicks into each setting. Bring back more haptic-based controls - navigating through menus on a touchscreen while driving is not conducive to driving safety. Otherwise, the new Forester looks 🔥
    Forester Touring: "We integrated all these controls into the touchscreen over here..."
    Also Forester Touring: "EYES ON THE ROAD, MISTER!"
