@@jillciminillo Funny, Mazda offers turbos in all its models. They have no problem with pricing or model differentiation. I think you don't know and are making something up just to post a comment.
Unless Subaru uses a 80+HP electric rear motor, I don't want the Toyota Hybrid system. Toyota's setup is great for fuel economy, but for AWD, it's horrible. Using Toyota's system as Mazda is doing in China would kill Subaru name to fame for how capable Symmetrical AWD is.
I'm glad I watched your video. I didn't know the stop/start feature was included. If it's turned off then the fuel economy will decrease from 26/33 mpg. Now I'm not sure the Forester is a car for me.
Had a 2015 Forester and traded up to a 2017 Forester. Both good cars but found the front seat depth lacking to the point that long drives became really uncomfortable. Traded the 2017 in for a new 2021 VW Tiguan SEL. Deeper seats, a great 8 speed automatic transmission providing much greater torque, and more cargo space really substantiated the brand change.
I have owned 5 Subaru cars and look forward to having one of these next year. I do not need to go 60 in O seconds. Also the looks are very refined and not as ugly as other cars ie Kia or Hyundai. UGH!
The take rate for the old Forester Turbo was not high. The issue with the old Turbo was it used Premium fuel. Put the 2.4 liter turbo from the Outback in it (using regular fuel) and it will sell. Do you think Subaru will ever put the Outback Turbo in the Forester?
Loved the video, but almost spit my drink out laughing when she said "just get the top of the line; how much does $10,000 add to your monthly note?". Um.....that would be $277 more per month in additional payment if you carry the note for 3 years, plus interest. $208 more per month if you extend it to 4 years, and $167 more a month if you finance it for 5 years, according to a quick search on Yahoo Finance. Yikes! This is why the average car note in 2024 is $726 per month for 5 years. Thanks, but no thanks. How long will it take at your job to save $40k and pay cash for the car, vs $30k? That's the question she should have asked but people don't seem to care.

I love your videos. The only thing I’m not thrilled with is telling people that adding $10,000 for the top-of-the-line one won’t add a lot to the payment. It would add a lot of money through the payment but you can afford people if you can afford the top-of-the-line one, get it if you can’t then get it less trim. Absolutely. Americans are addicted to debt…another $10k plus tax and interest is a huge deal. One trim level up from the base model is usually the best value in most cases anyway.
I occasionally look into Subaru’s because of their reputation for reliability, but every time I do, I remember why I don’t own one. They need to get with the times and update their line up badly.
Would like to see that fancy rear view camera in the rain. I know my 2015 and 2020 Outback are always mucked by rain droplets hanging on the camera. I bought my Outback because of the 2.4l Turbo. The 2.5l is just too pokie...especially for passing!
First of all - thank you for a very comprehensive review. Is the acceleration of the 2025 model worse than of the 2024 model and the same question about the quality of the seats, comfort wise. Thank you !
I have heard the acceleration is a bit better due to slightly better torque. Also steering rack is similar to a WRX, so better steering. Seats are similarly comfortable.
Ive been looking hard at the Forester and really like it. I havent drove one yet but Im worried about the lack of power. Its the main topic of this vehicle. If its got more kick than my old 2000 Honda civic with 220,000 miles on it then I can get by with it. The old Honda is a snail but I have passed cars with it....barely.
Hi Jill Great review. My wife is 4ft 11 and she has a problem finding a vehicle that fit her comfortably and you look the same size as my wife and this Subaru Forester looks very comfortable. I don't know if you know of another vehicle is good for my wife size. My wife likes something that is Truckee. Always like Subaru vehicles. Thanks for the great review.
Now see, I'd rather not have all that useless tech, but I want the leather and upgraded interior bits. Sadly, they don't allow that either. I have no need for a luggage rack. It's in the road when washing the vehicle and hate the bland and cheap black finish. Yeah, the performance should be an option as well and not keyed to trim....
Another negative is that the fantastic Startech seat material is only available on the sport model. So why wouldn't I get the sport model then? Well it comes with an inferior flush roof rack and those awful brown stained wheels. Arghh.
I think many OEMs understand that polarizing design tends to be more successful generally than something which might be more generally appealing but more conservative.
I see ford in the front and toyota from the side. Lexus from the rear. I think it's an excellent mom car to rival the crv's and the cx5's even though it could use 225hp minimum for its size. The lack of power probably also limits its off road capabilities.
Subarus are no rocket ships. Another RUclipsr commented because testing the car at higher elevation it will be a little slower. Maybe a second or so faster to 60 at normal elevation.
I wish they would offer the 2.4 Turbo in the Forester as a new XT, or the 1.8 Turbo from the Japan Forester with a Toyota Hybrid system.
Absolutely... when is Subaru going to get with the program? That standard engine is way too anemic for that auto.
They don’t include the turbo in this vehicle for pricing reasons. Plus they want to differentiate it from the Outback..

The Hybrid is definitely coming to the US next year.
Is there still a compass in the rear view mirror?

I think the prior Forster XT only required 87 octane, at least in 2017.
IF they are working on a hybrid version of the Forester... I don't think they will have any reason to mess around with a turbo.
Does blind spot system beep on the new Forester to alert the driver??
Honda, mazda, hyundai, kia, chevy offer the audible beep.

Agreed. $200 per month is something you can use it for groceries or invest in stocks.
Any option for light interior on the 2025? I don’t want dark interior. It feels small and claustrophobic.
They didn’t mention it. And the 2025 configurator isn’t available yet. They typically go dark so that it doesn’t show dirt.

@morgankid No. Have to go with the Outback if you want a turbo.

Yep, we’re about the same height. And the Forester has excellent visibility. Is she looking for an SUV or an actual truck?

I don't understand why most reviewers never bother to test Subaru's very competent EyeSight Lane following system.
Maybe because it might be a pain… and cause the driver to become “lazy”…. Or driver doesn’t need a machine to say how to drive…. CONTROL
XT and/or Hybrid version ,then maybe 🤔
Looks good! But of course i tend to be a generally optimistic person (very rare these days)
Still on the fence about the dated Toyota/Ford styling. Not as sharp looking as before!
i hope the hybrid will let you sleep with the climate control on like the toyota hybrids
This is the second model whose redesign they just mailed it in. Therefore, I have a very low expectation for the upcoming Outback.
What was the first?
The lack of power is the deal breaker for me. Either the 2.4 turbo or the Toyota hybrid system would work.
An SUV of this size needs atleast 220-230HP.
The huge media screens in the Forester and Outbacks are just plain ugly and enough for me to eschew them both. Are they a part of their other lineup?
What is Subaru doing with style? Looks like a Ford upfront and Mitsubishi outlander in the rear. That’s not a compliment and makes it look cheap.
I like the Ford face.

Nope. They just take design cues from Toyota then tone them down.
Prefer analog gauges.
