  • Here are a few words about my experience from when my truck broke to when it got fixed. Turns out it was the front differential 4x4 actuator. The experience and process to get it fixed sucked and after owning almost 12 cars, this ones warranty issues is starting to stand out over any of the others. I love the truck and am excited to keep taking it off roading. Just reminding myself to keep moving forward. Let me know what you want to see in the next video and please, subscribe!

Hey spencer I have a 2020 Toyota tacoma and I lifted it 6” with a zone off-road lift with 22x12 on 35’s and my 4x4 broke…. That being said they told me I’m fully covered and I had no problem getting my t-case and 4x4 model engagement replaced for free under warranty !

Had my actuator failed as well. They mentioned that it was due to water intrusion. My rig is lifted as well w aftermarket UCA, and 250-300lbs in the front due to a steel bumper and a 10k winch.

Anthony wow! Sounds like something they would’ve told me. That sure does suck but you are just like the rest of that own Tacoma’s, we do add modifications so it’s dumb they deny claims. Thankfully, I made them cover under warranty.

Spacers and longer bolts are for the skid plate two rear mounts. Two shorter bolts are for the front of the skid plate. Probably already figured it out but if not, here you go! ALOHA!

Same thing just happened to my truck and the dealer involved Toyota corp because they said I submerged the truck in water which wasn’t the case they have previously changed the same part but because the same part went out they said is out of warranty I only have 19k miles in it, so after all Toyotas are not making their cars as reliable as they were before might as well get a Jeep if you’re going to have weekly services

Hopefully it didn’t cost you too much. When i watched your last vid i figured they wouldn’t cover it because of the mods cause dealerships will find a way to not cover it.
    Your truck looks badass though.

Sam M thank you! I sure do love it. Getting my roof rack installed this week or maybe next. It’s all coming together thankfully. I was able to get them to pay for all the repairs thankfully. As much as of hassle as the process has been, thankfully I’m not out of pocket for any of it.

Sometimes you have to remind the dealer that they have to prove that your aftermarket parts caused a warranty failure.
Also, I hope you don't engage 4wd on pavement very often. It can cause binding in the t-case and front axle.

Andrew Peschau I rarely do. For video purposes. Only when very snowy and icy really! Thanks for watching.

I'm sure you did things right, however if you change anything other than what it came from the factory then it give them the excuse to deny you claim. That's why I'm not touching or upgrading until my truck until is out of warranty.

Charles Fuentes I get your viewpoint. And I thought this too. But there’s a warranty protection act called Magnuson Moss. Basically they need to PROVE rather than instantly deny and tell me I need to pay. Look it up, pretty interesting act. Protecting consumers which is great. I shouldn’t be scared to lift/alter my truck because of the warranty. Toyota actually sells Toytec lifted trucks at a lot of dealers so it’s a little more refreshing after reading that act and seeing my lift being sold by Toyota. Depends on what you want to do to your truck but take a look at that act!

That super sux man! I’m sure their arguing point is that even though it’s a Toytec lift, which Toyota sells, they didn’t install it. Which I sort of get, but I guess this is a lesson learned that if anyone else takes their vehicle to an aftermarket installer, and even if they tell you it won’t void the warranty ( which I’m sure a lot would do just to get your business) maybe something in writing from them that they will fix if Toyota denies your claim. If that’s possible. Otherwise I guess only have a Toyota dealership install?? I don’t know. So I take it you had to pay out of pocket for that fix? Even if they denied, they don’t sound like a cool place to go business with, especially with those bolts you have no idea what they go to, and the skid plate not installed. What a bunch of A-holes!

Shane Creason Thankfully it all ended okay and was able to get it covered under warranty. Toytec and ToyCrawlers are both amazing with product and customer service. I called both their teams directly and they said they were happy to help get my warranty claimed handled through Toyota. Very refreshing. Will keep me and my friends coming back to purchase their product that’s for sure. Not pleased with the dealership, they are a very high volume store and with that being said I’m very underwhelmed. Like you said, moving forward I need to get things in writing that’s for sure.

Now that is smart. I had a f_king situation with Toy-dealer concerning my Push Start failure. Just because I upgraded my Headlights with LED which had nothing to do with the failure, the warranty is now screwed. So, I spoke up and explained my Headlights upgrade technically. Next thing I know, my Truck was fixed. Now that's a f_king Toy-dealer. Go figure!😈

2019 taco had a leaking battery. With only 6k miles on it. Dealer only cleaned the terminal post. I called Toyota headquarters and got a new battery the next day . Working on the Bluetooth that keeps on dropping

Rex_8787 weird, any idea on why it’s leaking? I’ll have to keep an eye on my battery. Good for you, way to stick up for yourself and get what you need. I did the same and thankfully they paid for all the repairs. Keep me posted on the Bluetooth!

Hi there, I own one 2018 toyota Hilux diesel that have the same transmission and transfer case, right now I have the same problem one week ago I was on not pavel road then I switch to 4x4 hi and then after the difficult road I switch again to 2H since then the 4x4 ligth blinks and the 4x4 hi and low doesn't engage and when I press the rear diff lock button also doesn't make any noise and warning on dashboard that usually makes when you hit the button on 2H, my question is Wich was the problem you had in your truck because I think that I have the same problem 😓😓

    • @spencersteele7
      @spencersteele7  3 года назад

Luis M Vazquez you’ll have to have it looked at or take it apart yourself. But after having it happen and doing a lot of research, this is a common issue. Hope it can get fixed for you soon so you can be back to off roading!

After you select 2h, gently let off the gas. It will shift being the driveline is in a neutral position.

I have lost all confidence in dealerships they just do not care! I went in for a coolant flush and they got air in the line which causes my heat to go away when I come to a stop and of course they want to say I need a water pump or I have a leak......total B. S. I take my Tacoma to another dealership on my day off and 180 dollars and my heat is much hotter however when I stopped the heat went away, so I go right back they tell me it's air in the line and I should be great now. YES it is much better but not 100 percent but at this point I can't stand the uncaring looks and fake appearance of genuine concern when all they want is money or for you to leave its really sad. I am looking for a good independent shop the specializes in Toyota's. Done with the dealerships.
