Fumoto F103s for about $30 (Amazon) as of this posting....been using it on my '17 for years now and have installed one on many other motors I own since. I remove my skid plate because the access isn't adequate and inevitably used oil is going to pool on top of it and will drip leaving you wondering if you have a leak. If you remove your skid plate be very careful not to strip these bolts as it's easy to do with power tools....something the dealership does regularly and part of the reason I do my own service, not to mention half the cost. Good video!

I got the motivX kit a few months ago and finally did my first oil change the other day.
A bit If a pita because the oem plastic housing was on super tight, had to drop the rci front skid plate to get a large crescent onto the nut and use a dead blow hammer.
If I didn’t have this filter wrench I probably wouldn’t have gotten the filter off!
The drain tool worked great, trimmed the hose so it just went into the pan and the funnel was ideal to refill the oil!
I put on a Toyota metal filter housing and a fumoto valve so hopefully the next change is a lot easier!

Before installing your oil filter housing you should fill it up with oil a bit - that oil is in there for a reason, and you can but about 1/3 of a quart in before screwing it in and your engine is not effectively dry firing. I have the Motivx filter removal tool and can attest it is great, don't have the hose, but I don't mind a little dirty.

Motivx are excellent. They are an exact fit. I use the funnel on all 3 of our Toyotas (1.8l and 2.5l). I do have 3 filter wrenches but well worth the expense if you do your own changes. An exchange step I do is siphon the oil from the dip stick tube. So very little drains from under the car.

The only thing you miss is a FUMOTO valve. It will make the cleaniest oil change. Made in japan, I have that on all cars since at least 10 years ago. No more oil pan plug to remove, no mess in a drip pan. Connect the hose to the valve, put the end of the hose in an empty gallon. Open the valve to drain directly in the empty gallon. Then proceed with the other motiveX tools to finish the job.
I have that motiveX hose kit and would notgo without it !

I heard that if any of the new cars engines end up burning oil when there's not very many miles on the vehicle is because of waiting 10,000 miles to change the oil. It should be every 6 months or 5000 miles which ever comes first. Because if your oil is 6 months old and you only have 3000 miles on it. That means your oil is getting contaminated and this will cause your rings to stick and cause the engine to burn oil. Don't neglect oil changes. 6 months or 5000 miles. If 6 months goes by and your oil only had 2000 miles on it. Change it anyway.

Your housing plug was likely over torqued, done right, these kits are great.
The housing plug should only be torqued to 15foot pounds max and the housing itself to 20 to 25, better luck next time.

The fram oil filter comes with a screw in tool. Why Toyota doesn’t include one like that is beyond me. 🤣
