The Taco doesn’t have much room. I’d buy the access cab to have more bed space. The double cab is still to small to be useful and the bed is way to small. The longer bed option on the double cap is an option, but then the truck is really long.
I would have been interested in seeing the access cab front seat being pushed back to where you like it and then you sit in the back to see if it works, like you did with the double cab
Jeff should have mentioned both trucks in his video have identical length and wheelbase. So the double cab is just as nimble to drive and just as easy to park.
I have a 2019 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport double cab short bed and to be honest, the truck is only meant to haul two people comfortably. Sitting in the back is only comfortable for like the first 5 minutes lol. I love the truck and I'm glad I don't have to force people to sit in the back because they probably wouldn't want to be back there either haha. the puppy enjoys the rear seats because it fits him well
Thanks Jeff, for this video! I have had my 2019 TRD Sport 4-door now, for 16 months. The wife has had me hauling various things to help our niece, who is a nurse, over most of that time. Consequently, I now have over 28,000 miles on it! Anyway, when I bought my 2019 TRD Sport, I wasn't worried about the 5ft bed, because I rarely hauled anything. Now, I am missing the 6ft bed of my previous tacoma. After watching this video, I wish I had seen a comparison like this before I bought my truck. I don't know if they make an Access Cab Tacoma in a TRD Version, in Quicksand color, but if they do, especially for the 2021 model year, I just might consider trading mine. I never use the backseats of my 4-door, except for putting stuff the wife got in bags, and I would be better off with the 6ft bed. Man, I sure do like my truck though! I AM in a quandary here! Thanks for this video!
I spent 2 months frustrated with the lack of selection for a 2021 Access Cab. Finally turned my thinking around and just bought an SR Double Cab/V6 4X4. Beforehand, I thought the back seat was next to useless. Actually, it's quite comfortable. I will be able to get much better sleep than dropping the drivers seat back on the Access Cab for long trips. Just slide those front seats forward. Plus, the seat belt things don't dig into your ribs. Yes, the bed is shorter, but I'm near the limits for length with this new truck fitting in my garage and my dirt bike looks like it will fit fine in the back with the tailgate down. Always trade-offs...
And with them in a stadium style setup the people in the back can see out the front a little better than the standard backs seats of other 4 door trucks.
After seeing this I think my mind is made up to get an access cab. I really like the storage bins under the seat when no one else is in the car and it looks like my onewheel will fit on 1 side of that bump in the middle for when I go trail riding. having that longer bed Im sure will pay off long term as well for having to help people move things and reorganize. I Was planning on getting a ford maverick but dealer wants 10k over the price of the car why would I do that when I can just get a toyota?
In my opinion, Toyota Tacomas are meant to be Access cabs, If you go back to the original Toyota pickups and the Hilux you will see that the new 3rd gen access cab is a direct descendant of those trucks! The double door looks a bit weird and almost like an suv. The bed and the cab are the same size! If you want comfort get a suv! The access cab is also much rarer than the double cab. I had to order one with the manual and 4X4 and it is still not here. Just my humble opinion on the Tacomas. Cheers
But I got qestuion do the older 2 gen models 08 to 2015 I believe are the years and my qestuion was can you have an acess cab with a 6ft bed mind you it is for the 2gen model
Been thinking of getting rid of my civic and getting either a tacoma a ranger or a TJ wrangler, the toyota being the only current model vehical I'd consider would problay go for the access cab model with the 6 speed manual but wish they made a 2 door cab tacoma with an 8 ft box a v8 engin and manual transmisson. My other vehical is a 2001 ram 2500 long box extended cab 6 speed cummins.
Let me make this short. Im 6ft and I can barely sit in the back of my double cab in my sitting position. It's doable to have 5 adults but it's gonna be squeeze. So if you are buying an an extended cab I hope you aren't planning on having people in the back. You can make them fit in a pinch but it's gonna be uncomfortable
I got a good one for you... 4runner trd pro vs lexus gx 460 (i know it's a v8). I would like to see their respective off road capabilities. Hmmm not sure how to say this... Does access cab tacoma come with the trd pro/off road?
A crew cab is a pickup with 4 full-size doors. In Toyota language, the Tacoma double cab and Tundra CrewMax have crew cabs. The Tacoma access cab and Tundra double cab are Toyota slang for extended cabs. Those have the shorter doors in the back.
@@W0RLDSSMALLESTVI0LIN ok thanks . I was interested in an older one . I know they only available in 4 door now . Didn’t know the sport has access though so thanks
There’s really no space either way and with the double cab your bed size is so small, best bet is the access cab. Yea you can get a double cab long bed but the thing will be ugly af and too long
Well good for extra storage and can carry an extra person in emergency situations. Mid size access trucks have always had small spaces in the back. The only people that can probably fit in them and be somewhat comfortable are little kids. So I wouldn't say they are completely useless. If you have a family then of course you are not going to want an access cab but if it's just you most of the time and you rather have more bed space then it may be more practical. My father has a double cab and the room in the bed is fine as long as you're not going to use a tool box. And if you do need extra bed space you can just buy a bed extender.
so basically double cab has regular back seats. For Access cab you open suicide doors, to sit on hard plastic covers with no seatbelts, lol. Thanks for the review. Just started looking into midsize pickups.
“I didn’t realize that was 8 inches” then the pause lol
lol i noticed that too. even before that he said "it makes all the difference in the world....pause.............but yea" lolol

The subtle pause after the joke at 3:39 kills me.
Access cab looks perfect, thank you for showing me how it all works!
Every time he mentioned the inches of the leg room I died with the awkward pauses.
It got so uncomfortable lol ... haha thanks for watching!
I would have been interested in seeing the access cab front seat being pushed back to where you like it and then you sit in the back to see if it works, like you did with the double cab
I-Man; great job! Keep up the great work!
Jeff should have mentioned both trucks in his video have identical length and wheelbase. So the double cab is just as nimble to drive and just as easy to park.
to me it was pretty clear. the said you could have the DOUBLE cab with short or long bed depending what extrior length you want
This guys comedic pause and humor was on point, 5 Stars

@Mountain Chief Lmao nice
Bed extender? They're about $300 and they add an extra 2 feet to the bed length with the tail gate down.

The akward pauses....hilarious...best review I've seen
Place for sockets and ratchets or impact drivers nice perfect for any car rescue business

The pauses after the inch statements got me 😂

Can you get manual in base SR not having to get the TRD Sport? Both engines?
@@djkenny1202 In Canada they come in different formats! You can get the TRD Off Road in manual but only in the access cab. Cheers
Oh and I think they don’t offer the manual in the 4cyl anymore
Bought my 2020 Tacoma SR 3 months ago and it now looks better than the majority of other Tacoma on the road
What’s mods have you done to it?
Give us a review of the utility package Tacoma’s!

Double cabs are for women and guys with kids.... basically the station wagon...not a working truck with a usable bed length.
I love you, thank you for making this video.
Does '20 Tacoma offer the 2.7 inline 4 engine?
Yes the Sr Tacoma in the video is a 4cyclinder one

Wish the newer Tocomas ( Since they're bigger) would have a similar size to the 1st gen Tundra Access cab.
What is the weight difference between access cab vs. double cab ?
Looks like the Access Cab is missing the actual seats in the rear :/
No good dude
We wanted to see the access cab seats 🤚🤚
Is the 2nd tacoma double cab bigger than the 3rd gen tacoma double cab?
Aren’t the frames the same length on both of these trucks?
I have a 2007 Toyota tacoma access cab I wanting to see if I can get more comfortable seats for the back? Any suggestions!!
4 door vehicles have always been ugly. That has not changed
There is no point in even having back seats in the access cab. That’s just a place to store some stuff inside the vehicle.
Maybe little kids..
@@danjones3402 good luck with the car seat for them
@@Otownbassin lol well not that little. Maybe 10- 13 year olds if they need an emergency ride..
Carseats fit mint in the access cab.
Where can I find the predator steps for a 2021 access cab Tacoma online?
can you get a bicycle in the access cab 2nd row? What are cargo. dims?
I know someone who fits his trials bike inside his access cab tacoma with both wheels removed. Idk if a fullsized bicycle would fit
The pause after “a few inches makes all the difference “. 💀
I kind of wanted to see someone sit up front while the I-man sitting in the back of the access cab. perhaps do that in a future video?
Hi! Thanks for the video. Does the cab window on the Access Cab open up to the bed?
That truck has the utility package which deletes the rear opening window. But any normal truck without utility package will have a sliding window.
Hey Jeff does the front passenger seat fold flat like a table? I seen it’s like the Nissan nv200
Easier to park? They are both the same size.
I got a good one for you... 4runner trd pro vs lexus gx 460 (i know it's a v8). I would like to see their respective off road capabilities.

Can you put bars for a roof rack on an access cab roof?
why not?
I’m a guy with no kids the access cap is perfect. The bigger bed is key and didn’t want a 4 door with the long bed
Access cab 2WD 4cyl for the win!
So what's a crew cab?
A crew cab is a pickup with 4 full-size doors. In Toyota language, the Tacoma double cab and Tundra CrewMax have crew cabs.
The Tacoma access cab and Tundra double cab are Toyota slang for extended cabs. Those have the shorter doors in the back.
I just need the access cab for my grandkids 7 and 8 years old.
When are you going to do a complete review of the 2021 Venza??
They don’t come out til September. I’d like to get one sooner we shall see
Nice Job I man & Jeff
The I Man rules!!!
I would take a regular cab with 6ft bed if they still made them. 2nd gen Tacomas had them. Hopefully one day :(
C'mon man. At least use an Access cab with seats.
Lol simulating the seats
Is the access cabin truck smaller than the double cabin?
Yes, the access cab is smaller.
Why wont they make crew cab Tacoma
Great thanks!
