    We made a 14x14 foot concrete stone-look patio using the Quikrete Walkmaker in the Country Stone pattern.
    We also filled the joins with Quikrete polymeric jointing sand. It was a simple process and turned out great!

    So genuinely I've looked at like a dozen videos regarding these stencils for a pathway I will be making this month and this video was one of the best outcomes aaaaand the first one to mention the joint compound sand which is an idea I love. I think I way seal my "stone" stone but I am very excited to give it a try. I wish I knew how things hold up over the next few years now! Thanks for the useful video.

      @@tinabobina610 Currently working on a project like this, if you forgo the joint compound sand, you still need to fill the "grout lines". If not your pavers will move around, especially if you prepared a level sand area. The paver joint sand allows drainage and helps mitigate weeds. I would not skip this step.

    Thanks for this awesome video!!! I've been doing my research for a few weeks now and feel I am ready to take this project on as soon as it stops raining here in Indianapolis! I noticed that each time someone asks how many bags of cement you used you give the same answer "That really depends on how big your space is! The bags of concrete are about $5 each in our area, the jointing sand is about $20, and the molds are about $25." which is helpful within it's own right, however I am wanting to know how many bags it took for this specific project. The reason being that per the dimensions of 14x14 that you provided, coupled with the dimensions given on the paver mold I just purchased, it will aid in me purchasing as close to the correct amount of bags. Could you please share how many bags you needed to complete your 14x14 patio? Thanks in advance!!

    • @CharlestonCrafted
      @CharlestonCrafted  5 лет назад +2

      If you have someone mixing concrete and someone filling the molds, you can move seamlessly along. Putting the concrete into each mold just took a couple of minutes each, then you immediately lift the mold and move on to the next one.

      1- 80lb bag of concrete fills one mold. Each of these molds are 2'X2' and are 2 inches deep. If you have irregular area, then you are gonna need to also make some spare on like a board of wood or cardboard to fill in the odd spots. I have also seen people use cardboard to create molds in the odd spots where molds will not work and need filled in.

      We did add some leveling sand, but not much. It depends on your area and how much shifting your ground does. We haven't had any issues. The polymeric sand in the joints is flexible, which allows for the "stones" to move around a bit.

    • @CharlestonCrafted
      @CharlestonCrafted  6 лет назад +5

      Hi Kamiliah! We ended up using 36 bags of concrete and 7 bags of the polymeric jointing sand. I would recommend having a few extra bags on hand in case you end up using a little more. The molds are made to hold a whole bag of concrete, but we found that two bags did about three molds. It wasn't exact, so that's why we recommend just getting a few extra bags that you can return later if you don't use. You don't want to end up having to run back to the store when you only have three squares left! Thanks for watching!

      So I didn't catch it in the first part of the video, did you have the whole thing pretty level? How did you accomplish that?
      I was going to do something like this, but I have to do something quick and dirty to be ready in like 6 weeks, so instead I think I'm going to just buy some large 2x2 concrete pavers and set them up so they are level, and then put some of those decorative interlocking deck pavers on top for a nice look. It won't be long-lasting because of roots underneath and no gravel or sand, but I can always redo it after.

      @CharlestonCrafted  5 лет назад

      @@kbanghart We removed the old patio, then dug out a new expanded area. We leveled as best we could with the dirt that was there, but then we used leveling sand. That took care of the rest.

    That came out great. How many square feet was that? And about how much did it cost to complete?

    • @CharlestonCrafted

      It was a 14x16 patio. Cost will differ based on your area. You need about 2 bags of concrete for every three moles and a bag of concrete is usually $5-6 per bag.

    what kind of sand did you use under the concrete? do you have any weeds growing through?

      It doesn’t really freeze here so I can’t comment sorry!

    when i attempted this, the rocks in the concrete mix came to the top. so instead of a smooth surface, i had a bumpy, rocky one. i made a few and gave up...

      I’m sorry that happened. It sounds like your mix was too watery. It should be the consistency of wet peanut butter! Pretty thick.

    Hi! Id like to know the walkmaker mold and polymeric sand ratio. How many mold per bag of sand?

    • @CharlestonCrafted
      @CharlestonCrafted  3 года назад

      Officially one mold = one bag of concrete. We found we used a little less than a bag.

    • @CharlestonCrafted
      @CharlestonCrafted  3 года назад +1

      Oh sorry you mean the sand. We used 2 bags for 48 square feet

    • @lalail61

      Thank you for your reply. Polymeric sand is expensive but I think it’s worth it. BTW, they recommend to seal concrete after 28 days. I will seal mine after laying out the polymeric sad.

    Great video. How much polymetric sand did you use? This sand is extremely expensive

    • @CharlestonCrafted

      That depends on how big your space is, but for us, we used about two bags.

    How durable is this? I see concrete not that tick. So it won't crack in the future?

    • @CharlestonCrafted
      @CharlestonCrafted  5 лет назад +1

      Super durable. The concrete is about two inches thick and we've seen no cracks at all in a year.

    • @CharlestonCrafted

      The bags of concrete are about $5 each in our area, the jointing sand is about $20, and the molds are about $25. We used 32 bags of concrete and 6 bags of sand. And 2 molds. So just under $400.
