      Hi, approximately how long did you leave the mold in place before starting the next section? Thanks in advance.

    • @Hermorningcommute
      @Hermorningcommute  2 года назад +2

      I didn’t wait at all before starting the next section. The cement is thick enough so it won’t spill everywhere once removed immediately.

      The few things I saw was not getting the concrete in the corners that good and when she pulled the mold of they lines weren’t patted down but your absolutely right not worth a thumbs down

      Joel, I agree she did an awesome job on this. She worked hard and explained everything. Out is great. Sometimes a thumbs down means the video went on and on and didn't get to the point right away. I'm a person woth ADD and have seen 20+ minute videos that tale forever to get to the point.
      I watched a kitchen organizing video one time and the lady showed us her taking everything out of the cabinets ( instead of showing in fast motion). She explained why she was throwing away expired food, etc. I couldn't finish watching.

  • @galady8632
    @galady8632 Год назад

    Nice! It's definitely hard work but so rewarding. Probably 20yrs ago I did a patio area on a property I planned to sell within a year. I foolishly presumed I could process 4 to 5 bags per day. I managed 3 bags a few times but 2 was my norm. As you stated It's a lot for one person. I used a push broom to create a consistent surface each time after I removed the frame. The organic edges appealed to me. I also added sprigs of monkey grass to help with the tropical look I wanted. It filled in quickly and is basically zero maintenance - even I cannot kill it. I added a dye to the Quickrete mixture so the patio matched the blonde brick on the house. When I sold the house the patio was a definite asset plus I enjoyed it. I am now thinking about moving but at 73 I will not be able to handle mixing concrete. The next owner can make their own choices.

    Jazmin, this is a beautiful job and I hope you are so very very proud of yourself!!!!! My Daddy was a Master Mason (Bricklayer who does amazing things that is closer to art than bricklaying!) and he helped me with everything from outdoor BBQ or Grill as you guys call them, I believe. 🇨🇦’s call them BBQ’s, LOL! And tiles and my fireplace etc etc and do I ever miss him so very much that you just lit my heart when I heard you say your Father came over to help you❤️. That is amazing and once a Daddy’s Girl, always a Daddy’s Girl! Give him a huge hug hon as nothing is better than having your Father come and help you and teach you to do things smarter not harder as well as little tricks that make things go much smoother etc. as well as what NOT to do which is priceless such as not leaving cement out on the lawn or any little “spills” as there goes your lawn mower blade LOL! I was blessed and learned those before vs by “experience” as some of my friends who had begged to borrow my Daddy! He was there for everyone, always.❤️ Enjoy that patio girl! It is always so much more meaningful when you have your family and friends help you because they love you!!! Beautiful job as are you!❤️🙌🏻❤️

      There is nothing to it really, well manual labor. LOL They even have coloring for the concrete. The most important part is to make sure your base layer is level and slightly sloped away from your homes foundation. 80lbs bags of concrete is the challenge and use a wheel barrow and dont carry them things long distances.

    I wrote this in your other post … just some suggestions.. love your post. Sorry so long. Hope it helps
    I love you showed this… some things to help you and others!!
    2 suggestions for next time if you do this again but also how to fix this!.
    Next time: Put 2 layers. 1 layer of weed barrier one direction and a second layer cross ways. Layer of rock salt under the barriers. You can add vinegar, bleach and salt under the weed barrier to keep the ground from getting any start to weed growth or anything else. Weeds & mold grow when they get moisture and sun and critters bring in seedlings underground. So block it.
    For clean up & preventing all this in the future and you can do this after you clean up the weeds … do week whack or but anything on your path if you don’t want to damage the work of the path and your not in a hurry … COVER IT FOR 1-2 week with cardboard or dark plastic trash bags or both… to prevent sunlight and THEN… use a power washer on low to clean it and clear away dead weeds. They are dead now so you can put them in a composter bin or bag for pick up.
    NEXT APPLY A layer or sand /mortar type S and use a brush or broom to get in into all the cracks add a mist of water for 3-4 days. If needed after 3-4 days add another fine layer or sand/mortar if in areas this will harden.
    LASTLY AND MOST IMPORTANTLY - - after this cures and you’re happy with yje fill in apply 3-4 layers of a walkway or paver sealer with a roller (you can do a brush but I like a roller brush). DONT SKIP THIS STEP. THIS HELPS WITH the weeds & MOLD!! It keeps the moister from getting into the holes of the concrete.
    Also and a tip the molds don’t give u. Tap them or shake slightly before lifting to set in place while pressing down to get the air pockets out. This is where mold and weeds will pop up.
    You did great. I get why you got the naysayers but you did good. Do it again. Never listen to the haters if they don’t want to give you tips on how to help you. F them. ❤ keep up the diy’s.

    Jazmin, that looks so good I'm going to do that for the area where I am building my new brick grill ad pizza oven. The concrete under the grill will need to be smooth and level, but I want to add an area to put my table and umbrella. The patterned form worked so easy for you, I'm going to get a couple of forms. Thanks for showing me how to do it. Will refer back to this video.

    Great job! I have the same mold but the mixing of cement (for an area about the size of yours) has always prevented me from moving forward. You’ve inspired me…I’m going to get started. Thanks for sharing.
