Dude was like Kobe Bryant levels of famous in Orlando. Those were good times
Based on the Magic players recollection (JJ discussed this himself in his own podcast), the main reason the Magic lost to Boston in the ECF was the coaching blunder of SVG *even before the series started.* Even though the Magic was solid heading to the ECF, SVG suddenly decided to make major adjustments for the Celtics series *even before the series started.* Remember what Shaq said about SVG? He was a good strategist BUT he had a tendency to get nervous, overthink, and make bad decisions. That "dark side" of SVG showed up during the Magic-Celtics ECF.
I love Orlando Magic. Saying that, Guys Like Shaquille O neal, Horace Grant and Dwight howard all ended up with an NBA ring at the LA Lakers after leaving Orlando.

As a Magic fan, I like to think things worked out long term with the Dwight trade with getting Fournier and Vuc. Damn I miss those two and Aaron Gordon SO MUCH!! But our new young core going into 2023 is so fun and exciting. Fultz. Franz. Cole. Suggs. Banchero. Bamba. T-Ross (for now). Carter. They were so much fun to watch last season, it even made losing fun (won only 22 games). Got my League Pass bought and paid for, and I am SO READY for this season. GO MAGIC!!!
The Magic have their next All-Star!! So proud of Paolo Banchero and the work he's doing for that franchise. I hope he stays long term and takes them the distance.
God or whoever gave you a third chance. You have a WILD young core. Yes Franz and Jalen choked hard last week but don't let last game syndrome take over. The Banchero/Wagner/Suggs core probably the best development core in the bloody league
There are interviews on All the Smoke podcast featuring Vince Carter and featuring JJ Redick, which talked about Stan van Gundy's change of strategies in the 2010 Eastern Conference Finals against the Celtics as the head-scratcher. They went away from what worked and it was a shame that team didn't advance to the Finals.
As a Lakers fan I'm still shocked they were able to win game 4 in 2009. Dwight only needed to make 1 free throw. That game pretty much ended the series at that point.
Dwight getting his first ring with the same franchise he was once despised on in the place he was once so beloved, has to be the perfect character arc ever.
Please make one eventually for the 1990's Indians teams. Those teams were loaded and were very consistent, but overall never won the world series with Jim Thome, Manny Ramirez, Omar Vizquel and Kenny Lofton. Those 4 names alone should be great for any team!
Honestly I'm not even much of a basketball fan (as opposed to baseball, American football, or hockey) but all these excellent videos are making me into more of one by the day
You guys should definitely do a Steve Nash Suns collapse, the Suns are still bad and recovering ever since Nash and Stoudemire left the team. They had a good run in 2014, winning 48 games and still missing the playoffs, but they haven't scratched the surface of contending since 2010. I'm sure you guys have stuff planned out much in advance, I love these videos they're extremely well done. Just an idea!
The magic had the potential of two different dynasties with Shaq and Penny and Dwight and company. All were squandered without a championship. Also who could forget that Tim Duncan almost joined the Magic that had Grant Hill and T-Mac but was ruined by Doc Rivers
Some future collapse episode ideas: Denver Broncos after Super Bowl 50 Arizona Cardinals after Super Bowl 43 San Antonio Spurs after 2014 Sacksonville Jaguars after 2017 Lob City Clippers Cleveland Cavaliers after 2016 Buffalo Bills after after 4 straight Super Bowls New England Patriots after Super Bowl 53 Indianapolis Colts after 2014 Toronto Raptors after 2019
Crazy how you made this documentary about this specific Orlando Magics roster. I used this team when I played online in 2k and absolutely shredded everyone with 3 pointers. I realized quickly that this team, during that time, was hands down the best outside perimeter shooting team in the league with guys like Lewis, Nelson, Reddick, Pietrus, and even Turkoglu. It's funny to watch this because I remember everyone picking all the good teams at the time and there I was, picking the Orlando Magics lmfao. And I'm a Toronto Raptors boy from Toronto
@@fortuna8517 I'm talking about back in 2009 or something when this was the team for Orlando. That's when I played them. It was a time when 3 pointers weren't really as big as it is now because of Steph Curry This was a long time ago lol
The magic were the first team I liked when I started watching in 2000 after a trip to Disney. I'll never forget being so upset when Grant Hill couldn't play. After tmac left and we got Dwight I was excited again when we lost those finals I was in 8th grade and bout cried cuz I knew our history and knew that was our only shot with Dwight being here. Damn time flew by lol
They barely have actual beef though? They have beef like fighters have beef, they wanted to fight each other so they talked about each other a lot and then they fought, I don't know what kinda video that would be, the only interesting thing that happened outside of fight promo was the coach incident.
Man i will always root for my home state teams, but the magic have done such a good job at making one not want to. They've had some of the greatest collection of talent walk through their doors from Shaq, to a prime T mac, to Dwight, etc but time and time again without fail they fumble
Guys, the next collapse you needs to do the Brett Favre-led Vikings! Favre leading the way with his best passing season of his career, Adrian Peterson doing his usual demolition of run defenses, Wideouts Sidney Rice & Percy Harvin, brick wall O-line led by pro-bowlers Bryant McKinnie and Steve Hutchinson, and the nightmare for every opposing QB, pass rusher Jared Allen! This was a solid team that had such a great chance to lead Minnesota to their first championship, but that infamous Brett Favre pick in the 2010 NFC Championship just caused such a steep downfall that saw them fall to 3-13 just 2 seasons later! This would be an awesome Collapse story! Please do it next!

I'd rather see when marquez knocked him out.
The Magic have their next All-Star!!
So proud of Paolo Banchero and the work he's doing for that franchise. I hope he stays long term and takes them the distance.
As an Orlando Magic fan, I can use five words to describe this video
Pain. Tears. Pain. Endless pain
Or Orlando Magic is like Spain w/o the S. 🤪
Here’s a simple one: The Pain...It Continues.😞
God or whoever gave you a third chance. You have a WILD young core. Yes Franz and Jalen choked hard last week but don't let last game syndrome take over. The Banchero/Wagner/Suggs core probably the best development core in the bloody league
You gotta do more of these collapse videos!!! These, untitled, and beef history are you're best series please do more of them
I'm still a Magic fan always, no matter what, we have a bright future in the next couple years
No y'all don't 😂😂😂
And please don't say Markelle fultz or Mo Bamba 😂
@@rednaxelawilliams3176 they have Johnathan Isacc... and they got competent head coach in Clifford the Big Red Dog
Stop bro the magic are trash
They have to tank
I love this show , gives me and all sports fans the true back story of teams . Keep it up 💯
The first collapse that I lived directly through, and the one that hurts the most. Watching this team live hurt. I wish it could have gone another way
There are interviews on All the Smoke podcast featuring Vince Carter and featuring JJ Redick, which talked about Stan van Gundy's change of strategies in the 2010 Eastern Conference Finals against the Celtics as the head-scratcher. They went away from what worked and it was a shame that team didn't advance to the Finals.
I'm happy for D12 winning a title and he is a qualified HOF. Never give up on your dreams!
Bruh that's crazy
Hey Seth, can you guys do videos on how miller and Ewing were ringless? Or the collapse of the 1987 Celtics or the 1982 76ers?
Please make one eventually for the 1990's Indians teams. Those teams were loaded and were very consistent, but overall never won the world series with Jim Thome, Manny Ramirez, Omar Vizquel and Kenny Lofton. Those 4 names alone should be great for any team!
Can you guys make a Collapse video for soccer? Like how AC Milan went from being Europe's best, to just another team.
Looks like the Magic ran out for the Magic.
Honestly I'm not even much of a basketball fan (as opposed to baseball, American football, or hockey) but all these excellent videos are making me into more of one by the day
Been binging on these.
I'll happily listen to anyone from Secret Base talk about pretty much anything. Thank y'all for the work you do
Life long magic fan since the teams inception. This was painful to relive thanks for posting 😢
Howard's offensive game really improved in his prime o the point where he was taking and making bank shots from just outside the paint
I remember watching the 09 finals run and losing my mind. Greatest basketball moment of my life
Howard only needed his "Penny Hardaway" and unfortunately Vince Carter wasn't that.
Been dying to see another NHL focus for Collapse. Maybe the Oilers post-dynasty or the Lemieux-era Penguins?
It’s so crazy now that Dwight has a ring with the Lakers
The magic had the potential of two different dynasties with Shaq and Penny and Dwight and company. All were squandered without a championship. Also who could forget that Tim Duncan almost joined the Magic that had Grant Hill and T-Mac but was ruined by Doc Rivers
Like the demise of most small markets from 1984-2014 their downfall can be summed up in 2 words.
David Stern.
The new one brought me back here and MAN, this franchise has been through a LOT of disappointment.
Impressive considering how relatively new the franchise is
Some future collapse episode ideas:
Denver Broncos after Super Bowl 50
Arizona Cardinals after Super Bowl 43
San Antonio Spurs after 2014
Sacksonville Jaguars after 2017
Lob City Clippers
Cleveland Cavaliers after 2016
Buffalo Bills after after 4 straight Super Bowls
New England Patriots after Super Bowl 53
Indianapolis Colts after 2014
Toronto Raptors after 2019
Gotta give some time, a couple of even awful years isn't enough, need a good 3-4 at a bare minimum to be worth a video
Raps ain’t collapse
I'd be interested in the Bills
Spurs never collapsed. They're still strong up to this year
I’m surprised there hasn’t been a collapse with the 95 magic with penny and shaq. Need that to drop ASAP
This team ain’t in 2k though???
@@fortuna8517 I'm talking about back in 2009 or something when this was the team for Orlando. That's when I played them. It was a time when 3 pointers weren't really as big as it is now because of Steph Curry
This was a long time ago lol
@@Thomas-gy7sv Ahh I see
They really should add 09 magic to the classic teams in 2k though
Thanks for this vid, I was looking forward to an Dwight era of magic video.
"Vince Carter was past his prime"
That was 10 years ago.
Watching this bought back happy
and sad memories about the Magic.
Very good timing on this one, considering Dwight just won his first championship and Van Gundy is now I’m going to coach the Pelicans
You guys should bring back The Worst and talk about the 2011-12 Charlotte Bobcats, who had the worst win-loss record in NBA history.
This channel gives me life
Do a collapse video about the Baltimore Orioles please.
DAYUM that ‘09 team was a SQUAD!!!
I’ve got a video idea: the rise of teams videos about teams that Rose to championships.
I love your content!! I claim not to be into sports anymore because it’s to heart breaking. But when you post I watch lol! Keep up the great content!
Khabib just retired Connor said he’s going to “carry on” it’s a perfect time to make a khabib vs Connor McGregor beef history
I'm thinking he's probably tired and wanted to leave the sport on top. Props to khabib 👏
@@levarhicks1000 khabib the goat
They barely have actual beef though? They have beef like fighters have beef, they wanted to fight each other so they talked about each other a lot and then they fought, I don't know what kinda video that would be, the only interesting thing that happened outside of fight promo was the coach incident.
@@Chigz10 you watch MMA?😭Connor broke a bus window looking for khabib and that’s not even it they have real beef
@@loudpackangel1014 I mentioned that, that's the only thing that happened between them that wasn't promo for a fight.
You should do a rise series the opposite of collapse
You guys should make a series thats the opposite of collapse that shows a teams rise to a title. Call it espalloc
2022 here and we still suck! Lol
Whenever I watched your videos i am inspired to make one!
Imagine if Shaq didn’t leave.Possibly 3 championships right there
Yeah, but he was more focused on money, but at the same time Magic should have prioritized him better than they did.
What if Kobe (RIP) Joined Shaq in Orlando? We can only imagine
Looking forward to the 2020 World series game 4 rewind video whenever it comes
Seth blessed my ears with the intro
Love your guys work
Can you do another “Collapse” video for the NHL? Maybe on Toronto, Colorado, or (especially) Edmonton?
Man i will always root for my home state teams, but the magic have done such a good job at making one not want to. They've had some of the greatest collection of talent walk through their doors from Shaq, to a prime T mac, to Dwight, etc but time and time again without fail they fumble
Liverpools title collapse in 2013/4 or the Newcastle title collapse of the 90s
I’m glad he was able to get a ring while still being able to contribute he helped the lakers team a lot
Yess amazing, please keep these up, maybe Lob City Clippers next?
This is an amazing video like all of the videos created on this channel. Howard is clearly a hall of fame basketball player and if people believe otherwise then they do not know much about basketball
