Potatoes are maybe the most filling food I've ever experienced, for about three or four hours. I like baking them and "loading" them with broccoli, smart balance, salt and pepper, maybe some "vegan cheese". My A1C was too high and all I cut was sugar in coffee. I didn't cut a gram of carbs out of my diet otherwise, and lowered it myself. The nonsense form my doctor about carbs being my problem...I rejected it right away and solved my own problem lowering my A1C back to the middle of the range from 5.9 or 6.0, and I credit people like Dr. McDougall who gave me the insight to achieve that good outcome.

Thanks! However, I am left slightly unsettled regarding the nuts and seeds. I discovered Dr fuhrman last year and he claims flax seeds are amazing… “You’d have to be crazy not to eat these [flax seeds].” - Dr. F.
Are you suggesting we stop the flax (and other seeds) - that they’re simply a gimmick - or that we should just limit them. I found out about you, having read the China study a couple weeks ago. 💙

    • @JohnDoe-xk1dv

Dr F is one of the most controversial people in the plant based community. Professor T Colin Campbell, who wrote the China Study, has publically said he did not want to be associated with Fuhrman. I'll let you research why, and what happened.
If people have issues with inflammation, and eat relatively poorly, then flaxseed might well have some benefit. But for healthy people on the starch solution - no, they shouldn't have to routinely.

I am lucky that I do not struggle with weight at all or with any kind of Metabolic Syndrom issues or intolerances/allergies. I go without oil but I do like my seeds (flax!, Hemp!!!, chia, pumpkin, sunflower) and some nuts. I add a fair amount to my huge salads every day and sprinkle them onto my oats and would not want to go without their valuable content of fibre (!), minerals and Omega 3‘s. They are powerhouses! Just do not eat them as snacks and be careful of nut butters, especially when combined with starches or (refined) sugar. It can get quickly out of hand…

Yes, but we also have a natural deep craving for FAT. To survive millions of years through droughts, famines, starvation, etc…our bodies have adapted to crave high calorie foods (Fat) to store as many calories it can. Thus the Obesity epidemic. I have Lyme and biofilm made a tube and entered the blood vein, actually saw this during blood removal and placed in a machine to oxygenate it and biofilm tube was bigger than blood vein, therefore, causing high blood pressure. What a surprise in a few weeks, as Dr. Frye thought it would take four to five months, but blood pressure is down, and I will continue the diet. THANK YOU AND YOUR WIFE, YOU ARE GREAT PEOPLE. I was diagnosed with diabetes 3 years into the vegan diet and was told that it's likely that high blood sugar caused the clogging of my arteries. All other arteries were scanned and were clean. I'm only 45. So I went back to eating meat to give up starches. Not sure I'm right but it's life or death and 11 years vegan clogged 2 out of three coronary arteries.
