    A tour on the inside of the International Space Station - ISS with expedition 18 Commander Mike Fincke.
    ISS - The Space Station is a collaboration of 15 nations working together to create a world-class, state-of-the-art orbiting research facility. ISS -The Station is much more than a world-class laboratory; it is an international human experiment.
    The International Space Station ISS is a space station, or a habitable artificial satellite, in low Earth orbit. It is a modular structure whose first component was launched in 1998. Now the largest artificial body in orbit, it can often be seen at the appropriate time with the naked eye from Earth. The ISS consists of pressurised modules, external trusses, solar arrays and other components. ISS components have been launched by American Space Shuttles as well as Russian Proton and Soyuz rockets.

    • @willoughbykrenzteinburg
      @willoughbykrenzteinburg 9 лет назад +3

      Shadow77999 Yeah, it's pretty amazing the first time you see it. NASA has a text service where they will send you alerts anytime there will be a good viewing in your area. They come in bunches. You'll see it every night for a week straight, and then have to wait a month or two before you see it again. The reason is because you can only see it when you are in the dark on the ground, but the ISS is in sunlight above you, so at dusk and dawn (but only when the ISS is in your line of site at those times), so it can be rare at times.

      Same, I’m 13; just yesterday I saw the tour of the inside of the International Space Station for the first time and it made me so amazed and inspired to work really hard at the life sciences/biology subject and also physical sciences/physics, so that I can understand this all better and discover more about the world, and if I really get into it then I would make it a dream job... I’m really bad at life sciences and don’t understand it well, so this is all giving me a reason to try really hard to understand the subject and get good marks. (I also really want to be an author though but I could mix them up! Or just be an author if I never get really interested in experiments in space.)

      Franz Schnabel It's a mark on one of the inner window layers. Because of the huge pressure differential between inside and out (1 atm to 0 atm) windows have to be incredibly thick and are made up of layers. Most of the marks you see on the window seem to be on layers which are further back meaning they experience less parallax. The closest layer (with that mark on it) experiences more parallax from the POV of the camera so smaller motions of the camera translate to larger movements to it, which is why it looks like it is moving faster.

    Just curious how they deal with the many stray strands of hair that must be floating around. Hair sheds on earth, too, but gravity takes it out of circulation. In 0 g, they would often be breathing it into their mouths. Must be a pretty yucky problem. If her lovely locks were safely hair-pinned in place, then it wouldn't be a question. But here she is, practically flinging it out into a very confined livings pace. Also, how the heck does she keep it so nicely shampooed and in curls. I think a lot of the ladies watching would be especially curious about that. How odd that she never even mentions it...

    • @Supermanohman
      @Supermanohman 10 лет назад +1

      yeah they have a height limit because of a few reasons. For fighter jets, if your legs are too long then you can't fly because your legs get in the way of the ejection mechanism. And since some astronauts come from the air force and all astronauts use fighter jets in training, it's easy to see how that's the case. There are other reasons but this is a big one.
