    I’ve been a loyal Toyota guy but ever since they redesigned them and raised the the msrp I’ve really been eyeing up that trail boss. Great looking truck. Toyota was so reliable it’s a shame what they’ve done , first review i watch this year guy blows up a transfer case.

      Yep toyota that we know and love is a thing of the past. And on the flip side gm, a company that I hated for 20 years, its the rising start of design, quality, capability, customer service and reasonable cost.

      Same thing here. I agree.. are you referring to TLF channel where they were climbing over a rock on the snow and they broke it on the blue Tacoma? I watched it. On that note it is ridiculous how much the Tacomas cost now. I had two third gen Tacos and they were good(TRD OFF Road both) but I test drove a Trail boss yesterday and a ZR2 and Chevrolet is spot on with performance/price.

      I originally wanted the Colorado ZR2 desert boss. But refused to pay 61 grand for it.
      Before i would pay 61 grand I would go look for a good low mileage used 2021 or 2022 Colorado ZR2 bison model truck.

    I liove my new 2023 Colorado trail boss. The MSRP on my truck was $44,700.00 which is around 7 to 8 grand less msrp over the Colorado ZR2. You just get 1" less tall factory lift and no front locking differential with the trail boss. Also do not get the fancy suspension system. Living in northeast Tennessee I do not go driving on rugged terrain like folks do living out west in the more rugged mountains in colorado, Wyoming, utah,New Mexico, Nevada, arizona,California and Texas. So I could not justify spending that extra 7 to 8 grand to buy the ZR2.

      Sounds like you got some great extra options on your trail boss for that msrp. Sure is an amazing truck! I just drove and reviewd a trail boss for 39600 msrp. was an amazing truck but probably a lot less options than yours has. it didnt even have a trailer hitch. That video will be uploaded soon on here.

    I watch alot of truck stuff and have an off road truck my self. I wish people did not speak when they don't know what they are talking about. The G80 is a true locker made by Eaton, all Auto Lockers work that way it's one of the best most dependable lockers on the market does this guy realize all the issues and problems you can have with a electric locker ??

    • @Jason-Samko
      @Jason-Samko  Год назад

      Then as an off roader or a guy that knows I would expect you to know the limitations and difficulties that co.e with a locker that has to spin 100 rpm to engage! I said in the video it's a great locker and the most reliable (yoy would of heard that if you watched the full video). But it is not the best locker design. As an offroader all my life, a mechanic for a decade and an engineer for the automotive companies for 15 I kinda do have a clue.

    • @bradsmith130
      @bradsmith130 Год назад +1

      @@Jason-Samko well for the one fault you find with the auto locker their is a lot more with electric lockers. The Auto locker is a pure mechanical locker their is no wire or electric solenoid to go wrong. Oh by the way wires corrode.

    • @Jason-Samko
      @Jason-Samko  Год назад

      @bradsmith130 can not argue with you there. And never did. Like I said in the video the g80 is the most durable fail proof locker made. That's why gm has used it for so many years. But performance wide its not even close to a electronic locker. Bit it's much, much better than no locker

    I've tried to select the 2wd for the trail boss but that's not an option. Unfortunately it only comes in 4wd. I had a 2021 z71 that was a 2wd and I was hoping to find it an option on the trail boss.

    • @Jason-Samko

      Yeah I think all manufacturers are cutting out the options that options that were not in high demand. A 2wd trailboss, although would be a great looking truck, would not be high demand. It's a bummer they don't offer that option.

I put 39 dollar leds in my jeep that lasted u til I sold it 3 years later and I have 50 dollar leds in my tacoma and love them. Amazon sells a bunch of led lights for all makes and models and they work very well.

      Gord Monteath agree 100%. It's a tough call base on needs out of the truck and with the cost difference there it's not an easy choice. The stuff in the zr2 is pretty important to me but the price makes me wanna say "screw it, if I get stuck I know how to self recover so save the money". There is no right or wrong truck. Both are excellent.

    I bought a new 2023 Colorado Trail Boss,,,,,he was trying to sell me a extended warranty for 5k,,, I laughed and told him NO! I told him it would take me 15 years to put 30k miles on it,, I bought it to pull my Bullet bass boat and just to have a little off road fun,,he also tried to get me to finance my bed liner, all weather floor mat and my 490 torque flash,,,,I said NO,,,I payed cash for all that! I put 30k down and my goal is to pay it off by end of year,,,I’m also getting that lighted front grill bow tie,,,it’s pricey!

    This was the best year for the midsize GM line in the company’s history. I wish they would figure out how to cram the “old” 5.3l in one. My Gladiator would disappear quickly. I am curious about the torque numbers. I know different tunes peak at different rpm’s, but the extra torque with an extra 1000 rpm sounds like marketing speak to make the more expensive truck seem better. When there may be no real difference.

    • @Jason-Samko
      @Jason-Samko  Год назад +1

      Agree it's the best truck gm ever made. I have not been a fan of anything gm has put out in over 20 years. But this 23 Colorado is fantastic and really speaks my language

      @@Jason-SamkoTheir is a significant difference,, they raced a 392 torque Colorado against the H.O. 430 Torque Canyon and the Canyon beat the Colorado,,,I got mine flashed to the 430torque for around 500 dollars and you can tell,,I seen a video of a Colorado H.O. In four wheel drive do 0 to 60 in 6 seconds,,,My C5 Corvette does it in 4.5 seconds ,,,that is extremely quick for a not so light midsize pickup truck,,,I haven’t checked yet but I’m also gonna get a cold air intake whenever they are available,,I put a cold air intake on my Silverado when I bought it new and could really tell the extra HP big time! my point is ,it’s not just talk these trucks have torque power!

      Price might not be worth it yet. Will have to see. Can put 35s on a zr2 for a whole let less. No difference in gearing between the zr2 and bison. So not sure how it will really handle 35s with 3.42 years. Had 35s on a jeep with 3.73 gears and it was about worthless off road. Have to see how the 35s do in the bison. I think a zr2 with 34x11.50s would do much better off road crawling. But excited to see the reviews and the price of the bison when it hits
