If you just want a place to sleep at night, keep you from the wind and rain and provide shelter, there's no problem with a shack, a week or two at most and you're done building. Now if you want more comforts, more amenities more space, you use a little more time to lay a good foundation and build a bungalow. If you've got loads of time, and a need or just a drive for more, you can really take your time, lay a massive foundation and build a skyscraper.
