    • @Jackmonkey66666hghinnv
      @Jackmonkey66666hghinnv 2 месяца назад

      Yeah I agree it’s probably best to start beginners off with hands up, mostly because we all know 99% of beginners will have hands low especially when tired and you honestly couldn’t have a worse habit then that so best eliminate it before it even starts imo. Though simple his point about it being fine as long as it’s for a reason is just as good if not better as long as they take that as gospel and not just half ass it otherwise they gonna have that brain knocked around pretty bad.

And I know this is illegal and boxing, but I didn't mix martial arts and so my parry comes with a back hand or a back fist counter. That's what you have immediately available to you.

But personally I prefer up to down for the most part because when you fight and equal or better whoever mastered their basics better has the edge that’s what everyone reverts too and if your basics are hands down vs an equal or better opponent well…..Godspeed Spider-Man

    Adding onto this, i think teaching newbie fighters to keep their hands up is good, and once they get a solid base to build upon, then let them start working on their own style and choosing how they have their hands. Some fighters (myself included) have unique fighting and guard styles that they come up with on their own that works for them and their body type, but without a strong and solid base to build upon, having a unique style is useless and sometimes even detrimental.

    I agree. There’s a time and a place for everything. There was this kid in my gym that was a savage. He’d change up his blocking style throughout the fight. Whenever he’d see that he had his opponent hurt, he’d lower his hands to bait out shots to potentially slip and counter to further rock the opponent or finish them.

    The thing too is distance... If you are monitoring your distance and you know you're out of immediate range then hands low isn't a bad thing necessarily. Check out Lyoto Machida in UFC, does a great job of managing distance and he had to be concerned with possible kicks as well so further distance than hands.

    Agreed. Everytime i adopt high guard in boxing everybody just uses the opportunity to keep me shelled up...
    Its funny how adopting a tight guard actually makes people more aggressive...like a challenge.
    Putting your guard up is like saying "hey i can't see very well, come hit me a bunch". Keeping your hands a little away from your face keeps them thinking. If your hands are stuck to your face, it gives them control.

    I think the old “hands up” technique was really about building body awareness and endurance. The average person has very little of both of these things so using this as a foundation would be useful as they develop going forward. Raising your hands takes energy and building those muscles and creating that reflex is essential in any kind of martial art but this man is LEGIT! I love the willingness of flexibility. It shows he’s a good teacher.

    The basic rules are for basic practitioners (majority).
    That's like motorcycle braking, we teach to brake before the curve, so a sloppy rider can get out of the curve alive but good riders will learn how to brake in the curve.

    I see so many knockouts that would have been nullified by proper guard you can’t predict how or from where attacks will come

    I been a fan since you taught me to use a mouth guard in a street fight since I was in high school. This clip is awesome because with each doubt or naysayer it's predictable at this point and you executed this clip awesomely

    I was always taught that you should either be moving your head or using a guard. Both at once are overkill unless you're getting pressured hard, at which point your foot movement will be what saves you anyway.

    All the people who criticize you can’t even fight like you. Lol you are the person who made me realize the whole “those who can’t do teach” thing actually means the student can become the teacher with experience. I am so inspired by your videos bro. Been training A LOT lately based on what you’ve been demonstrating.

    FINALLY SOME INFLUENCER SAYS IT, it's so obvious and old for some martial artists, *there are no strict rules for guard, strikes, anything!!* there are just styles, and every fighter should know the consecuences of every way of movement in his style, pros and cons, that's all 👍.

    Keeping your hands up at the right height is fundamentally sound. No matter how you manipulate things to fit your own boxing style or not fundamentals are necessary.
