In my mind, the 20mm f/1.8 is the single best E-mount lens. I've had it as my only E-mount lens at times in the past, and I think it's simply the best. It's great for photos and for full-frame videos, and while the 24mm f/1.4 seems interesting on paper, the 20mm f/1.8 is less expensive and more compact, and I've come to really love the 20mm focal length. 20mm is more versatile, too, because in a lot of cases, you end up cropping into your frame a bit, so 24mm is no longer wide enough. I even love it on my ZV-E10, especially because 4K30 adds a further crop, so the 20mm f/1.8 ends up basically being like a 36mm equivalent. If you were strictly shooting APS-C, obviously, the Sigma 16mm f/1.4 is the smarter option, but even then, I actually prefer the look of the 20mm f/1.8, and it's a bit smaller and lighter than the Sigma 16mm. I just love this lens so much.

Thank you for your great review. I really like your channel. I'm owning the A7III which probably has the same sensor as the A7C, but a much older software. I always appreciated the A7III's low light capabilities for photo and video. I recently added the A7SIII to my camera portfolio this year, and I'm still wondering that the A7III does not lie far behind. Great advantage of the A7C over the A7III is definitely the ability to use Catalyst Browse for stabilization. Nevertheless, I like the A7SIII for it's uncropped 4k60p slow motion capabilities. BTW, as a non-native English speaker, I appreciate your British accent and humour :-) All the best for your channel!

Hey both, I’d definitely agree about the Sony 20mm - excellent lens and only drawback is price. Thoughts here: ruclips.net/video/FtlvtfAYjjk/видео.html Aps c lenses work fine for vlogging in my experience too and I’ve used them plenty of times on the a7c. The samyang 12mm: ruclips.net/video/2t9ag9kP6-0/видео.html and signs 16mm: ruclips.net/video/vsvR5NJkmKg/видео.html are favourites that I’ve got good results with. Hi there, I own the A7C since the end of 2020. I love this camera! Do you have some issues with the camera? For me after a bit more than a year I have some issue with the shutter release button. The middle position of the button doesn’t work anymore! Do you have similar experiences? Regards Ken

A bit of a shame Sony with this low light capabilities has blocked the intervalometer port on the usb . basically only the Bluetooth simple remote works.. so no bulb functionality:(
Have you had any issues with two-frame blocks where the shadows suddenly shift into magenta? I've been downloading as much a7c footage as I can find to play around with grading it, but a few of the videos from different users have these sudden color shifts in the shadows (always for exactly two frames), and it has me hesitating on this camera. All of them were captured in 25fps 4k with otherwise unknowable settings-though, based on what best worked in a color space transform, two seem to have been shot in s-log 2-and it's incredibly hard to tell if it's user error or a reality of the camera/video compression.
Hey 227, it’s a good question but honestly not an issue I’ve noticed at all. I’m generally shooting 4k24 in HLG- not sure if that would make any difference but I don’t seem to have experienced the phenomena you’re describing. Hope that helps! Random qustion, if you have to chose 1 from sigma 16 f1.4 and tamron 17-70 f2.8, which one you would chose on the bases of image and video quality for zv e10? I have to buy one i got zv e 10
Hey Sanwal, tough one. I suspect image quality would be similar as both are good lenses. The real Q is flexibility; the tamron has a much bigger range of focal length and build in stabilisation at the price of a bit less maximum bokeh-it’s a better all rounder. If you know you want mainly the wider focal length and max bokeh then sigma 16mm is the way to go. So pick whichever shoots how you’d like to shoot the most:)

The a7s3 is clearly the king among Sony options and the a7c is not as god but is not a million miles behind so we can probably infer a reasonable amount about performance form that.
