Proud owner of this model since January. Absolutely love it! Well worth the years it took me to save for it.
Awesome Neil, Congratulations!!
Great ^ just wait till it breaks in and fall into place. It'll take approx 8 years, , , then things really begin.
Enjoy the ride
I bought an HD28 brand new in 2003. Best guitar I ever purchased, best I ever played.
I just purchased an HD-28. Thank you for your great playing Ian, I could listen to you play all day!
What tuners are coming on these now if you don't mind me asking? Mine has Schaller grand tune tuners and I'm thinking of switching them for another.
@@chico280 Grover open tuners
This is what a guitar sounds like in my head. Nice demo.
Good to see'ya...
The ebony finger broad and bridge looks really pretty
For the price, solid black ebony fingerboard.
Man, that first E chord… Beck’ s Sea Change was recorded with an old D28 that sounds identical to this. The album starts with that E chord. It’s beautiful
jeff beck?
@@sooparticularBeck. Not Jeff beck
Wish I could get one without the yellow toner. Was told I have to order through custom shop just to get a natural clear finish for more $$$$
I am currently saving up for a martin hd28. I have a martin d18 that is also a very nice guitar. I like that extra bass on the hd28. It is great for playing bluegrass and classic country which is the kind of music I like to play. The hd28E is about $400 more then the straight acoustic hd28. I might get one with electronics built in.
Get it, the built in electronics are nice enough for most applications and the battery slot is a game changer, life is much easier with it. Own both the d18e and hd28, for solo the hd28 wins but for vocal accompaniment I go for the d18.
If on a budget check on it's little brother D-16e.....
I decided to add a pure mini K&K setup that uses the existing pin block. Sounds great, paired with a nice preamp and including install you’ll be in less than the $400 and also not need to have the kind of ugly battery block. At least that’s what I didn’t like about the 28E
Hello Ian. Bought one today in Holland. (TFOA) -A used one from 2022. Nothing changed since 2022 on the HD28 correct? Should be same as the 2024/2025?
Is Martin using the Crelicam ebony like Taylor now?
I believe they stopped dying their ebony.
What gauge strings are you using here? I’ve found that 13s and 12s are very, very different!
You could also use Richlite for a fingerboard guys. You’d like it. That D-28 has element inlay and I concur, it’s not attractive, but Ian’s playing is.
Glad to see the color of the fingerboard so ugly. I just got mine in the mail today and the fingerboard was ugly. Glad it’s not just mine. Why would they do such a thing to such a great guitar?
I use old English Dark Wood scratch polish and that conditions and darkens the fretboard. I apply several applications until I get the dark color I want.
Because CFM IV is all about profit and personal gain.
Martin is now using their left over ebony low - grade ( again ) Low grade but boosted their prices. Their calling it the natural look of the wood hoping that suck you in . Own 4 Martin’s but just about tired of the lying bs.
I was wondering why the fretboard looked like that?? Yea I’m not cool with that at all for the price. I was looking at some new 2022 HD28 yesterday and they all seemed to have dark fretboard like usual
Me to. I got a love ❤ hate relationship with Martin 😢 but I just love that sound
That light fingerboard? No thanks.
Helps prevent ebony from being wasted \ running out
@@jonathanhartmann2978 Agree. But it would stop me buying this guitar. I would prefer alternatives such as staining the ebony or even micarta.
Some ebony will not take dark stains like others the more you play it the darker it gets.
Martin used to dye their ebony black, folks, they stopped somewhere around 2018-2019. That's the normal figuring that you see in most raw ebony. I love it. To each their own.
BS there re many types of ebony, the cheapest is brown to black CFM IVs choice, GREED
