George, Nice video this is helpful to me. I just updated to crossfire ...tired of having all this program nonsense on FrySKy gear. My Tango 2 has problem with low RSS readput 50% with quad just a few feetout. This video and comments section have been a great resource for tracking down my issue. Thank you for posting.

Thank you so much for this video. I was having a hell of a time trying to get my tango 2 button c / aux 5 bound in betaflight. It turned out that my nano x was set to 8ch. and not 12 ch. Thank you!

@@doktordrone. That's strange I have heard of that happening with other receivers but never a Crossfire. First of don't panic it's probably reading in DBM so your still getting a full signal even if it says 45% so you could just leave it and fly as it is and work out your range (eg. if the RSSI drops to 23% think of that as about 50% as normal. However, there is a way to change it in the command setting but it's hard to explain. I will see if I can find a video showing you how to do it. But as I said don't worry to much you can still fly.

This is what I was looking for. Thank You. I have just one question. If I have GPS rescue set as failsafe in BF should I still set failsafe in the Nano RX to “Cut”?
Yes always. There are a few reasons why, but rather than going into a load of stuff, it's highly recommended to have it set to cut and leave it. Glad you found this post useful. If you're interested I have a playlist this a few more info videos about the Tango 2.

This is an old video now and a lot has changed --- LQ is much better than RSSI and you should be using it if you're using Crossfire. But on your T2 you can choose either or both at the same time as they do slightly different things, however, I only use LQ... Check out these links below, the first one by Bardwell and one from me.

How do I fix incorrect values. Rssi shows 80% and lq shows -31, 6 feet away.

New to crossfire-what would be a reason you need 12 channels vs 8 channels?
To add more functions. The first 4 channels are taken up for controlling the model such as throttle and yar. that only leaves 4 channels and once you add a buzzer and a GPS you only have a couple left, so if you what to add more functions such as rate change / OSD switch / in-flight PID adjustments and more. then you need more channels, just like any Transmitter, not just Crossfire. Why would someone just want 8 channels instead of 12? Is it about latency? If so, what's the latency difference? I've been beating my head against the wall over setting up a switch in channel 9 on my X9 Lite and Betaflight not allowing that to work as AUX 5. So I changed the CF receiver from 8 channel to 12 channel and the AUX 5 works in Betaflight now, but why is 12 channels not something everyone wants to do? 4 channels are taken by the sticks so that means only 4 switches are able to work if you stay on 8 channel. Most radios have a lot more than 4 switches. I want to keep my arm, beeper, mode and crash flip switches, but I also want to control my VTX power on another switch, so I am going to have to use 12 channel, but again, why doesn't everyone want that?
It's to do with ( power / band width / latency ) Imagine a radio that only has 1 channel, the battery will last longer because it does not have to do much. The bandwidth will be super strong because there's only 1 and there will be no latency.
Now Imagine all the information you send through the air from your Radio to your model has to travel through an invisible tube in the sky, the more stuff you try and push through the tube the greater the chance the tube will get clogged up (SORT OF)
So the more channels you're using the more problems you may get (Right) Nooooo "WRONG" this would have been the case on older radios but nowadays the radios are so high tec you won't even notice.
However, to answer your question why would someone just want 8 channels ? if you are a new pilot and your first radio has 12 or more channels it could get overwhelming, so I think that's why the Tango 2 ships set to 8 channels.
@@GeorgeCooper_LoneWolf Thanks. I should be able to go to 12 channel and use all of my switches and the pot with no problems. Maybe slightly less battery life, but my radio seems to work forever as it is and I carry spare 18650 batteries anyway for my goggles and radio. Thanks for the explanation.
