    Once again, a great video and wonderful info. My heart is always so happy after watching one of your instructional videos because I know my plants are going to be doing much better afterward. I have learned SO MUCH from you and appreciate you letting all of us benefit from your expertise! Sometime, could you address putting succulents outside in the Midwestern states? Our nights can get cool (but not necessarily cold) during the summer months. Our temps fluctuate so much between days, and day to night. Is it even wise to put them outside at all? I always think that plants would love to feel "wild and free" outside for a bit each summer, but maybe I'm not doing them any favors by putting them out there. Thanks once more for all your wonderful instructions and info. My plants and I love you for it!

    I have gnats up the wazoo! I have always been a plant person and now I am into succulents! So I have the both of them....anyway I have had house plants and never had gnats but I do now! And the gnats seem to come from the plants not from the succulents. I can let the succulent soil dry out but not the plant soil so I am between a rock and a hard spot! I am using a vinegar and dish soap spray....but found it most useful to hear apple cider vinegar! I am willing to try anything!!!

    • @Succulentsandsunshine
      @Succulentsandsunshine  5 лет назад

      Are you able to quarantine your succulents from the other plants? If you can do that, and then use the soap and vinegar trap to get rid of them, that would be best.

    Incredible video congratulation you just covered about every subject that I had a question about and covered just about everything that is happening to my succulent here in South Florida. I just have only one question that you can help me
    Are there succulents that grow satisfactorily only indoors and are there succulent that can grow satisfactorily under the direct sunlight, or all succulents can be grown under direct sunlight if they are gradually exposed to the sunlight? Thanks 1 million and keep the great job you’re doing.

    • @Succulentsandsunshine
      @Succulentsandsunshine  5 лет назад

      I'm glad I was able to answer your questions! There are some succulents that do much better indoors than outdoors. Each succulent has different needs. I recommend visiting www.typesofsucculents.com and looking at the different categories to find one that does well in your growing conditions.

    My succulent's bottom leaves are bumping off quite easily and it's only new. I try not to overwater it but nothing is rotting or shriveling, simply falling off.

  • @Peleski
    @Peleski Год назад +1

    The main problem is the original planting. The plants are way too packed, and they clearly had different growing conditions before they were combined. Granted, the "fruit salad" bowl planting looks very pleasant, but it's at best only a temporary decoration.

      Mealybugs create a sticky web-like substance on your succulent, usually in smaller spaces like by the stem. Check out our blog post or video on it:

      Make sure to let them dry out completely for a few days before planting 🙂

    This is a good video with a couple good points, but everything (mealy Bug damage, sun damage, dehydrated, too much sun, too much heat, etc..) would have been more clear to relate to what challenges viewers are facing if the camera would get more close to detail for everyone to see. Also, including before/after images is helpful

    I keep finding small spiders in my succulents and snake plant. They are NOT spider mites, which is all I find when I google. They are small house spiders, smaller than a pinky nail. Any idea where they are coming from/ how to get rid of them? Maybe they came with the plants? Do spiders enjoy succulents?? lol. Help! (:

    • @Succulentsandsunshine

      Most spiders won't each succulents but they do tend to each bugs that eat succulents. So if they're lingering, there's a chance you have another pest too...

    There is a fantastic product by Bonide but I'd use it only if you're growing succulents . I say non-flowering & indoors because we want to protect the pollinators. It's called Systematic Granular Insecticide. Just pour it on the top of the DRY soil (no need to remove the top dressing) and water it in. Not only will it kill anything that eats on your succulents (except for spider mites 🕷) but it will kill fugus too and say good bye to fungus gnats. It's a wonderful product, I use it if and when the little beasties show up. I haven't seen them for the last year or so. 🪦Maybe they decided my place is not healthy for them.🪦tee-hee.
