It is such a gift to see them flower. Thank you so much for sharing your story with everyone. I really appreciate it! My apologies for the very late response. Wishing you more blessings! ❤️🙏💫

      Split rocks are not Lithops so they don’t split the same way. They can split any time. You also water like normal succulents, when dry. There’s a good FB group with all sorts of great info, but they are def nit Lithops. Lithops are living stones.

    "Energy Flows Where Energy Goes" Thats such an important message. So true! :) I tend to underwater my succulents and a small amount of leaf drop is soooo much better than over watering. When im too on top of my watering my succulents do worse than when I am more relaxed about it. Its always better to wait a day and see then chance and water too soon. :) Great Video. :)

    I just got into succulents about a year ago. I joined a succulent lovers club and also read and watch videos on caring for them. My club members all seem to follow the same path but I get a lot of conflicting information online. You just answered some of my questions that I haven’t found a straight answer to before. I like that you give thorough advice as you show us what you’re doing. You just answered why you shouldn’t repot new succulents as soon as you get them and either pot dry succulents in wet soil or wet succulents in dry soil and never water them before 8 days to 2 weeks. I’ve asked others before about repotting plants I receive from online sites. I don’t have any local nurseries here. A lot of the ones I receive are blooming and/or have pups. I’ve had answers such as go ahead and repot them or at the other end not to disturb them then. That’s what I thought and you confirmed that. I have a lot of questions but one I really need to know now, because I’m potting some that I got a couple of weeks ago and repotting ones that have seriously outgrown their original small pots. I see that you don’t remove all of the soil on the roots when potting new plants. I’ve mostly been told to remove as much of the soil as possible even to washing the roots. But I’ve seen growers who think that as long as the soil is not too wet or doesn’t look too good, it’s ok to leave some or all of the soil on the roots that they’ve been growing in. I see some that come in soil that looks good and they’ve obviously been thriving in so I feel like I should leave their soil on and pot the plants with their soil into new soil that’s recommended but also resembles what their original soil is. I learned to use a gritty soil mix with my cacti and my succulents that are mostly Crassula, Haworthia, Gasteria and ice plants. I don’t do well with thin leafed succulents like a lot of Echeveria. I’m glad to have you show you’re advice in real time. Thank you!

      Hello Laureen, thank you so much for the long messages! I really appreciate them. I love all the details. I do think you’re on the right track with everything. It’s quite true that most of it just takes some common sense and a little digging here and there. That’s referring to info that’s available online.
      I don’t suggest to strip all the soil off the roots or even wash them all off. I feel like it’s too much unnecessary work. I have always left some soil and my plants have been doing fine. I guess, people would say to remove all the old soil with the idea that those soil have already been stripped of all nutrients which could also be true, but then, as long as there’s more newer, fresher soil around it, I don’t think there would really be a problem. The plant can always grow more roots so that it can access the more fertile soil. So stripping away ALL the old soil is just overkill. I honestly think either way works. It just depends on how much work one is willing to put in.
      Thank you for the message. My apologies for the late response. I’ve been so busy. 😅 Wishing you more blessings, love and good health! 🙏❤️💫

    Very helpful video, thank you. This answered all the questions I had. I'm in South Wales, UK. I repotted all my succulents yesterday in John Innes Number 1 compost. The compost was slightly damp and my instinct was not to water. All the succulents were potted in garden soil before, outdoors and struggling. I have a small conservatory so I've put them in there now. I was careful not to compact the new compost too much. Fingers crossed! Thank you again. Great saying that too

    • @SucculentFame
      @SucculentFame  3 года назад

      Hi John! UK is one of the best places to grow succulents. You guys out there barely need to water your succulents. They are also not likely to suffer sunburn out there. You were on the right track not to water them after replanting. Huge apologies for the late response. 😅 I’ve been so busy. I’m sloooooowly trying to catch up on responding to comments and inquiries. I’ve been buying succulents for years and not doing so well with them. I recently trimmed back my aunt’s long, hanging, overgrown jade plant. I watch nearly every youtube video on propagating, pruning and growing jade plants and everyone said different things. I came across your propagating experiment video, and I loved it!! I shared it with my aunt, who can now better propagate her jade leaves and trimmings. I also shared 2 more of your videos on watering and propagating clippings. GREAT GREAT videos. I have learned more from 4 of your videos than I have from dozens of others on youtube. I can’t wait to propagate and share my jade trimmings and ghost plant!

    I wish I would have found this video sooner! I repotted a succulent from a nursery pot into a more secure one and immediately watered it afterward. I think it was pretty thirsty but I hope I didn't hurt the roots anymore than I already had. It was pretty attached to it's nursery pot and I had to cut the pot away even! Anywho, great video! Will tune into more as I love succulents too! ❤

      Hi Sena, it is okay to leave them in the same soil, but if you feel like the soil has already been depleted of nutrients and if not changing out the soil will keep you worrying about your plant, it is best to use new soil. Thanka for the video! I just bought a split rock that had already bloomed and has the stalk left. Should i cut that or just leave it to wither? I watered it the second day i got it. I was a little worried but i know they just sit there in the stores unattended and needy. Im just impatiently counting the days till i can repot it! I figure I'll give it a couple weeks to recover from moving, blooming, watering.

      @SucculentFame  8 месяцев назад

      Hello! Congratulations on having flowers on your split rock. Just let the stalk wither. I normally just leave mine until it’s very withered. Withered and dried stalks are easier to pluck. Great tips! Thank you so much for sharing. I think I kind of been doing this because when ever I get a new succulent I'm too lazy to repot them, so I end up leaving them in their nursery containers for a while and just water them in their original home. repotted some over the weekend and watered them straight after.
    Tomorrow (its nighttime right now in Australia) I’ll repot all and some new ones into dry cactus mix I bought tonight.
    Is this the right thing to do?

    • @SucculentFame
      @SucculentFame  5 лет назад +1

      Hi! Are they in a thirsty state before you transplanted them? If they are not, I think it is risky to water them immediately after repottjng. They are quite different from regular plants. Succulent Cuttings can be placed in water within the same day, but for some reason, they are more likely to die when introduced to wet soil, unless they are in a thirsty state prior to repotting. My apologies that you might have to do it all over again, especially if it’s not too warm out there. It’s summer here in the US, going into fall. I think it’s the exact opposite out there. Thank you for asking your question. I really appreciate it. Blessings to you! ❤️🙏🌈 My apologies, too for the very late response.

    • @SucculentFame
      @SucculentFame  6 лет назад +15

      Unfavorable situations will always be there. Like people, situations can never be perfect. 😃 We just need to divert our attentions to the things that we are still supposed to be thankful for. 🙏 ...little things like how lucky we are that we are still alive. When we start to focus on the small things that make us still feel a little fortunate, it multiplies...meaning we will receive more things that we can be grateful for. 😃 No matter how dire a situation is, you can still find something positive in it. I see unfavorable situations as an opportunity to show how what we got inside...like how tough we can be when the going gets rough. 🙏🌈

    It’s very informative. Please tell me what is best soil mix for Succulents and what is for Lithops

    • @SucculentFame
      @SucculentFame  4 года назад

      Most growers would suggest cactus soil mix for most succulents. If you are planting them in the ground, any soil is good enough. I have been planting in regular soil in the ground and they are thriving. Proper watering interval is more important. I highly suggest cactus soil mix for Lithops. Thank you so much for the question. I really appreciate it! Wishing you more blessings! ❤🙏🌠

      Hi Candice! That is such a nice selfless act to give away 4 pots when you had six. 😃 That is so sweet of you. I’m so sure you received more blessings when you gave those away. 🙏 Thank you for sharing this comment with us. I’m also working on giving away some succulents and stuff to people because of my 10,000 subs. It is always nice to give back. I really appreciate your comment. Thanks again. ❤️☺️🌈

    I recently got some succulents and I’ve been watching videos to learn how to take care of them. I noticed in your video you were loosening up the roots before putting them in the pot. I didn’t do that when I transferred my succulents from the nursery pot into the pot they are in now, will they be okay or do I need to take them out and loosen the ball of dirt/roots and put them back in?

    • @SucculentFame
      @SucculentFame  5 лет назад

      Hi Sierra, it’s okay. You didn’t have to. I was actually just removing some of the older soil. It is not a requirement. I just try to remove as much of the old soil as I could ‘cause the little guy probably has already used up most of the nutrient in it, ‘cause they’ve been in there for quite a bit. Thank you for asking this question. I really appreciate it. ❤️☺️🌈

    Your information helps me a lot. One mistake I did was after repot I immediately watered them. But currently Malaysia have crazy heat Wave that the pot drys out by 3rd day. I put them at shade area never direct sun. Everyday checking the plant water status 😂 Can I know what plant was at 12.08 ? Thank you 🙏

      Hi Melissa, it’s the Pleiospilos nelii “Split Rock”. Were you asking for the name of the plant at the very last part of the video? My apologies. I might be getting confused. The video is 12:08 minutes long. Were you asking for the plant at 12:08? Thank you so much for your comment. I really appreciate it. ❤️☺️🌈

      Hi Lucio! I have a video about different soil varieties. Here’s the link. ruclips.net/video/08AK2t929T8/видео.html Lately, I have also been planting them in the ground and they have grown so much nicer and easier to take care of, ‘cause I have a watering system, so I dont have to spend so much time watering them manually. Thank you so much for the question. I really appreciate it! My apologies for the very late response. 😅 Wishing you more blessings! ❤️🙏💫

    I just bought my first bear paw plant 10days ago and it has 5 big leaves with 2 tiny ones still growing but i want to change it into a nicer pot. Is it a good time to repot now? Or should it wait for it to grow more?

    What size pot are using to repot the succulents in? I think they are the white ones at the 5:13 mark. Is there a size that's appropriate to use when repotting? Thanks for the video!

    • @SucculentFame
      @SucculentFame  5 лет назад

      Hi there, Maggie! My apologies for the late response. I think those are the 2.5 inch pots. I have a link to those pots in the description. Sizes of pots is more of a personal preference, but do consider that if you want them to grow faster and bigger, choose pots that would be big enough for when they’re double their size. I hope this helps. Thank you so much for asking your question. I really appreciate it. ❤️☺️🌈

    Hi, what do you use at the base of your pot at 5:23?

    • @SucculentFame
      @SucculentFame  Год назад +1

      Hello Jasmine, I placed a wire mesh so the soil wont fall through the base of the pot. It doesn’t keep all of the soil from falling through, but it does help. I just buy a piece of screen (the ones used on windows) and cut them in small pieces. Thank you for the question! My apologies for the late reply. Wishing you more blessings, love and good health! 🙏❤️💫

    • @SucculentFame
      @SucculentFame  5 лет назад +1

      Hi! I hope they’re still alive. Space out watering intervals and when it’s time to water, please give them a good soaking. This is the key. They need to experience a good dry spell, but when it’s time for them to drink, their leaves need to plump up. Thank you so much for the message. I really appreciate. More blessings to you! ❤️🙏🌈 My apologies for the very late response. 😅

      Do not overwater them. Go to the hardware store garden section and buy some fertilizer that says for cacti or succulents. I use Schultz’s Instant Cactus Plus liquid plant food. Add a droplet to one quart of water. Other brands are “Cactus Juice” or “Algoflash for cactus”.
