I'd gladly take a thicker MacBook if it meant it included better battery and all the necessary ports we used to have. Keep em' coming like this Apple cuz you ain't gonna hear complaining from me.
I'm in the same boat. I don't mind a bit bulkier laptop if it means overall use will be improved!
Everyone keeps talking about the thickness but they don’t even realize the 14” is actually THINNER then the 13” and the 16” is only a 1/2 of a millimeter thicker then the old one.
They just appear much thicker because they don’t have a tapered design anymore.
True that!! I'm still on a 15" 2012 MBPro, the 2021 MBPro M1 Max is actually lighter, slightly smaller with a larger screen. Excited for my new 2021 MBPro to arrive next week supposedly, i ordered it 6 weeks ago it is due to arrive the 4/ 22 to 4/29 just got delayed until 6/6/ to 6/21. what i bought is a 16" MBPro M1 Max with 32 Ram and 2 TB storage, hope to have it 10+ years like my 2012 MBPro without worrying about software and app upgrades or storage space. In 2012 i bought my 2012 MBPro 8GB Ram was biggest & i got it with 1TB Storage which was huge back then, I still only have used 592.92GB storage since 2012, The new one for me should be plenty big, im almost thinking i should have got 4TB as i want to move that 600GB from the 2012 to the new 2021. As mentioned above, I'm still on a 15" 2012 MBPro, the 2021 MBPro M1 Max is actually lighter, slightly smaller with a larger screen. THE 2021 is 19/64 inch thinner, 11/32 inch narrower, 3/64 inch less depth and 13/16th of a pound lighter with a 13/16" inch larger screen.
The new 2021 compared to my old 2012 is basically slightly more than a 1/4 inch thinner, slightly less than 3/8 inch narrower, slightly less than a 1/16 inch front to back, slightly more than a 3/4 pound lighter with slightly more than a 3/4 inch larger screen. And they brought back the ports that i like and mag safe that i love. It is a win win for me. With all he improvements and bring backs it could not have been a better model, year and time to upgrade!! Absolutely Psyched!!!
The trackpad is too big. You cant keep your palm on the typing position while you want to move the cursor

I’m finally upgrading from my mid-2012 15” first Retina display!!! Planning to buy a maxed out 14” with the intention of keeping it for 9-10 years.
Still loving my Mid 2012 Retina display. Still runs great for being 9 years old.
Only thing to consider with getting the M1 Max with the 14” is that it significantly decreases maximum battery life and the GPU is running at slower clock speeds than in the 16”
@@bolttracks I will have to compromise. I didn’t like the 16” size. It was too large. I didn’t want to return to the PowerBook size of 2000-2010. Lugging it around traveling is just too much.
Same here, but I’m considering getting the 16 inch as i really love working on the huge display of the 24inch M1 iMac. And i really hope that it could last about 10 years 😂. But as you mentioned traveling with it will be a bit too much..
ive on a mid 2012 non regina, did you ever have issue with hard drive, mine was replaced in 2018. there is an issue with the 2021 MBPro and iPhone 13, bad chip in the Drive. i want 10 or more out my 2021, 2 more weeks to go. hope i dont get a bad one. Apple has not issued a recall yet and they are aware
In your editing software, can it playback your compressed EOS R5 footage?
Tyler Stalman did his review of the MBP and the new m1 max destroys R5 footage. So yes these computers destroy r5 footage

for sure, there is issues with the 2021, bad chips in them and the iPhone 13 and apple hasn't done a recall yet, praying i dont get a bum MBPro, that would suck

People always talk about how big it is, but compared to almost every laptop out there, by comparison it's incredibly light.
This is INDEED my very first MacBook, my first time using MacOS and all because of video editing speed and completing the Apple ecosystem. I think I am getting started at a really good time and I built it strong so I think it will be awesome.
I ordered the 16 inch 1 Terra model. This will be my first Mac computer ! I hope delivery won't be very late

Great video! I have a base 2015 MBP. It’s showing it’s age a little when I edit in FCP. Thinking about upgrading it but I’m torn. I want to keep mine for at least 5 years, should I go with 16 or 32 GB of RAM?
I have the 13 inch 2015 MBP. I went with the 16 inch M1 Max 32gb of Ram and 1TB SSD. The M1 Max is only a little more which I thought was worth it.
I also have a 2015 MacBook Pro with 16 GB it is good for what I do.. The extra wouldn't be worth the money to me.. I am getting my new M1 16 inch MacBook Pro today..
@@gunner5590 I picked up the new 16GB MBP 14 inch yesterday.. I guess I have 45 days to test it out and see with my workflow - fcp, web browsing, and playing music in the background etc. but still not sure if I should get 32GB for longevity or if the 16GB is good enough. I just don’t think a $400 is worth it that given I’m not going to being doing 6K or 8K editing maybe just some 4K stuff.

@@watchmanexpert I don’t travel with the 16” much but it’s definitely heavier. I actually have the 14” model which pretty much lives in my backpack at all times.

Good video, only thing i noticed is it ok to pull the power plug off from the wire side, wouldnt that loosen the connection quickly. I think better to hold by the square block.

very excited and even more anxious, my new 16" m1 max delivers the last week of APRIL pushed out to the end of june. kind of scared having it delivered per say it was dropped by the rough handlers being overworked with thousands of deliveries expected by the receiver to be delivered on time. ive noticed most items shipped by fed ex and ups are all banged up on the outside boxes, apple assures me that the styrofoam packing they use it will be fine and they say oh you've got 1 year warranty. well damage from a hard drop may not show up for a few years. i only had it shipped because i could get it shipped to an apple store within 200 miles of where i live, ive got 3 apple stores quite close but none of them are receiving the 2021 MacBook pro, weird i must say. thanks for the video. im currently on a mid 2012 MacBook Pro that i bought new in 2012, i love it, i can't get big sur iOS so apps like numbers are not working, luckily i have microsoft office 2019, myself i prefer excel over numbers and i prefer word over pages, i dont use power point enough to make a comparison over keynote. again thanks for this video

I spec’d out my 16” and it’s not coming till November but it’s arriving on my bday.
Speaking on thickness, I know that the previous MacBooks have that tapered edge making it *look* thinner. (The same idea as the wedge for the air models) but at the thickest points there isn’t much difference

The extra ports pointless at this point. I already switched out all my cables with usbc cables. Even my hdmi is usb c.
