M1 Pro MacBook Pro 16" Base Model after 150 hours of use ? Keep in mind this is a great laptop but not for the average consumer, web/app developer or even level entry digital creator. It's great buying this for stuff like 3d rendering, heavy video editing with adobe products or music production. Other than that, for most productivity work I recommend checking out the 14" or even sticking with the 13" M1 MacBook Pro.

I’m pretty sure everyone who bought a M1 MacBook Pro did so just to edit a M1 MacBook Pro review on it.
Anyone who buys computers these days does so for the purpose of making review videos about it. Feels like that's the computer's only purpose as of late.

Got the M1 pro for 880 bucks from my job, traded my m2 air since it has more ram and the M1 pro chip still out preforms the M2 base chip only paid like 250 out of pocket. I'm the meaning of a happy camper, The laptop is a powerhouse, and the keyboard is the amazing. won't be upgrading for a long time now.
Fun fact, the battery in the new 16” is actually a tiny bit smaller than the previous generation. The apple silicone is just way more efficient.

Just to point something out: On the TouchBar you didn’t have to tap twice if that was one of your main concerns. You can for brightness and volume for example, hold your finger (not even a long press) and slide across the bar to adjust it. No need to tap twice. In my opinion that was a cool feature as it allows you to set de desired volume and brightness more precisely a oppose to to stepped volume/brightness control on the keyboards without touchbar

Looking forward to your 14 inch for developers video. I’m in need of a laptop replacement soon and the M1 with 16gb of memory is a really strong value proposition but all of the other updates make me want to stretch for a “budget” 14”. The custom pc is already built lol.

Do you think 16 inch will be good for programming if im not using external monitors or better get 14 + display? I really like the mini led on this devices.
How's your battery? Mine's the 14" M1 Pro base model, and while it's mainly decoding video (x265 and x264), the battery barely lasts 4-6 hours.
The performance cores are constantly pushed as hard as possible, with temps averaging +70C, while the efficiency cores aren't utilized at all.

Decided to get the 16” M1 MBP w/ 10-CPU, 16-GPU, 16-Ram, 512gb. It was on sale for $1,500 brand new so I decided to pull the trigger. I’ll most likely use it until the M3 or M4 line drops.

I have the 16" m1 pro and the 13" m1, but I cant really get used to the size of the 16", I am a software engineer so I don't really feel any difference in both of them when it comes from day to day work, but I love how easy to handle is the 13". If I want to plug it to my monitor, I just get the cable and put it below my monitor, but If I do that with the 16" It covers half of my monitor, so I need to get the stand, bring connect my keyboard and mouse and put it in one side. But both laptops are amazing.

Just bought a refurbished base model for $1490, cant wait til it comes in the mail. Only $70 more than a 14” base model and I prefer bigger screen and longer battery life so it was a no brainer
you were okay with the ghosting on the display? i felt even with the promotion enabled the smearing/ghosting was very noticeable

I’m nervous to buy again for concerns of reliability. My 2019 16” MBP w/ 32gb ram suddenly turned into a nightmare after a year of stable use in sound design. Now it’s back in for repairs and needs its third logic board in three months leaving me unable to continue working. After all these incurred costs, I’m definitely experiencing buyers remorse. Hopefully, this generation with the new chips last longer than the Intel Touch Bar MBP’s.

oh man yeah! Well you know what, I should start mentioning it but sometimes its always best to wait a few months before buying. Avoid if you can to buy on first batch but I do have to say, you need to get unlucky even at that :/
I'd ask for a complete replacement. The one you got was obviously a bad one and not fit for purpose. I think Jon Sine got the 2019 16" model as well and he had an audio hardware issue on the first one he got likely related to the T2 chip, but he took it back, got a replacement and then everything was fine.
my late 2013 mbp retina is still chugging along with 8gb of ram,, haven't upgraded yet

What a fantastic last line "if the power in this laptop means that it can pay itself off get it, if not it means you don't need it" wow do I appreciate that last line... I want the 14" pro but do I need it? Not according to you. I shoot with a high mega pixel camera and use Denoise Ai which kills my current (i5 8gig ram) asus laptop. I ordered a Samsung Pro 360 15" 1 TB drive with 16 gigs of ram instead. I am thinking I may jump in for the Macbook Air M2 when it comes out or for $850 the current M1 MBA base model, just to test the waters. I would appreciate your input.
Just because you don't "need" it doesn't mean you can't "want" it. I do photography as well (amateur mostly of my animals/street ect) and even doing some touching up on PS/LR would never come close to using it's full potential but it's nice to know it'll do it. If it'll last 5 years and handle anything i throw at it without breaking a sweat then the base model is a great investment. Most people don't need the maxxed out which is what a lot of "content creators" fail to mention... It's always you don't need THIS laptop (generally top spec) but then they've dropped cash on the max spec for reviews and act like everyone will happily pay $6000 for a new device when most will go entry level. Want a mbp, get a 14" or 16" m1 pro and throw a couple hundred on a bigger ssd (and if you want go 32gb ram on the base) and that's as much as 99% of folks will ever want for.

I have the same problem on occasion. Left front speaker, MacBook M1 Pro 16 inch. Thought it was a hardware issue but it only happens on occasion. Most of the time it sounds great with no crackling issues.
@@jasonbaker7006 it’s a shame considering the price of the MacBook. Thought I fixed it changing the speakers settings but no luck. Sometimes it sounds like it’s stopped but if I put my ear closer to the speakers I could still hear it. I’d just check in case, I’m planning on returning mine.

i wanna buy this laptop as a computer i can use when I'm not at my desk. my gaming pc will take care of all gaming, i just need it for everything else. based on what you have said in this video when it comes to gaming, it might be a good idea to buy Minecraft for this MacBook for when i get bored as it looks to run the game quite well. battery life is a big selling point for me and the fact that it keeps its performance even on battery power compared to some other windows laptops that have 10 percent wattage available on battery and even then they get only 1 hour of battery life just makes the MacBook a no brainer
