How The Batman Can Still be Brought into the DCU

- After the set photos revealed our first good look at the Superman suit a lot of people kept on posting about how good this version of Superman would look next to Robert Pattinson’s Batman. The contrast between the two is perfect with Superman’s bright colors and superhero costume material and Batman’s dark colors and armor based suit perfectly encapsulating the world’s finest dynamic of two heroes with drastically different approaches to the same goal. In this video, I’ll be looking at how well The world of the Batman can fit into what we know about the DCU and how it would affect things.

iron man started off fighting a guy in a bigger metal suit, years go by and he’s fighting a purple alien. pattinson batman CAN exist in a world with james gunn other powered characters. it just takes time. Batman and Superman, Metropolis and Gotham work well together because of the different tones. and also, The Batman movie had SUCH a great interpretation of the character i don’t even know how we can have another batman that holds a candle, just having him wear blue and have more bright colors feels like a cop out. I feel like pattinson can exist and become the batman that joins the justice league if done right.
no lmao. Iron man was always more fantastical than the batman, if pattinsons enters the dcu he gets destroyed by anyone with superpowers.
There's the factor of tone. The overall tone of Matt Reeves' Batverse simply does not fit. There's no logical way to include Pattinson's Batman and the world that surrounds him into the DCU without completely changing the tone of the character and compromising everything Matt Reeves has done.
@@Ben-zg8xkthat’s why give “The Batman” a trilogy before they tie him in to anything else. Build him up, maybe even do a time skip before they do a justice league movie
@@ojmcclanahan689 i agree with what the other sides perspective but literally if u pick up a batman and superman comic they’re vastly different. batman can be fighting serial killers on a murder spree with no gimmicks and then superman can be fighting lobo and the parasite but there still in the same world literally a few cities away.

maybe but i’ve spoken to multiple casual fans of these movies and they think it’s dumb to have 2 batman’s at the same time AGAIN regardless of the tone.
@@samshughart3479I hate to be a dick but in my personal opinion I’d say fk them casuals 😭 having to water down a character, movie or let alone an entire universe (bringing Robert Pattinson’s Batman would be”watering down” & more so hurting the new DCU as it’s not the right vibe for the universe in my opinion) just because the casuals that otherwise wouldn’t contribute, take interest in , or even take the time to become knowledgeable enough to know how the characters should be portrayed is a slap in the face to the true fans. Anyone that says that The Batman is too realistic to be in a fantastical setting baffle me even though Arrow started of grounded and introduced THE FLASH and it was amazing while it still was good to watch
The Arrowverse was always held back by budget and the Teen soap opera CW writing. Honestly, I would've rather had a good Flash movie than 9 crappy seasons of the Flash show. They were OK, but nothing amazing. And with Green Arrow, they just essentially turned him into Batman.
Still, the grounded esthetic transitioned convincingly into fantastical@@DavidMartinez-ce3lp

@@chemostar2361 Problem with that is that Batman isn't a street level character. He's a big player in the DC universe. His world is so large. It's not just him. By taking away parts of his world that are campier, you limit the character severly. You take away his ability to interact with the wider universe. You take away the fun. What you're left with isn't the character, but only merely 1 aspect of the character. I'd much rather see them bring multiple aspects and elements together. That's much more impressive.
Proves your stupid for Arrow is a trash show and all the other garbage shows were still stupid grounded realistic and don't compare trash CW shows to Movies.
I do want Pattison to be part of the DCU, he’s already a had a great film which the public made financially and critically successful, as well, it would mean perhaps actually seeing the robins grow up (there are of course work around for the robins if James Gunn wants to get to Damian).
It wouldn't work because they're doing Teen Titans which means they're already going to be an older Dick Grayson and an established Batfamily. They're already working on Titans movies so this just wouldn't work for so many reasons

Paul Dano doing God's work with that comic, damn
What’s wrong with having some heroes debut before Batman? I know it makes more sense to have him be the first and be like “Masked Vigilantes before Metahumans”, but why not shake things up to be different, and have him be like second or third on the scene?
Look, I'm an actor and I do a lot of film study, The Batman doesn't fit the tone that James Gunn is setting for the DCU. As much as I would love it to be a part of it, you can't just change the tone of a beloved movie to fit a universe it was never meant to fit into. Yeah, Batman is darker but the DCU seems to me like they're trying to pull directly from the comics, The Batman doesn't do that, it's more of a conceptual kind of Batman, it really is an elseworlds story
That’s true
What about Swamp Thing, Authority, Paradise Lost? And one character's film doesn't define entire universe's tone.
You guys forget Arrow introduced The Flash
James Gunn mentioned the DCU wouldn’t have a singular tone like the MCU, as they will vary between the characters and stories being told
I get what you’re saying but also the comics these are based on are constantly having tone changes to the characters and most cinematic universe have a tone change in them anyway
Why do people still have this delusion? Reaves doesn’t want the Batman Connected so it won’t be connected, end of discussion
Exactly man! It’s supposed to be an elseworld type of thing, Reaves doesn’t want to be associated with other heroes in his universe.

@@thomasjohnson1885 good point, as many times as I have seen it I’d say borderline delusion.
Even though I believe Pattinson and Corenswet would make a great Batman and Superman duo, I don’t think it would likely be happening. 😔
No. It would be much better to have Pattinson in his own universe. Reeves is cooking and I don’t want him to be tied down by the continuity of a larger cinematic universe. He’s got his own universe and it’s great that he can have his vision fully realized in his own self contained universe without any studio interference, rather than have to change things around to fit with other movies and shows. While it would be cool to see Pattinson and Corenswet on screen together, Matt wants to tell a more grounded and serious story, whereas Gunn is creating a more wacky and fantastical story.
As fun as it is speculating, Reeves DOES NOT WANT his Batman to be brought to the DCU. Lets not get our hopes to high and just let them cook
I hope Batman becomes a part of the universe. We don't need an old Batman and a young Superman. We need a young Batman and a young Superman. I hope that Damian will not be Robin, but Dick Grayson will be.
It won't stupid so get a life for Batman is better being Older.

These two universes exist in very different worlds: The Batman is a dark purely realistic portrayal of the iconic caped crusader, while the DCU leans into several different tones but exist in a different world where all these tones can tie together to make a greater whole.
To put Patterson's universe in the DCU would be to ruin the depiction both he and Matt Reeves are trying to create, not because of the tone not fitting-but because the worlds THEMSELVES don't fit.
Sure, a piece from a different puzzle CAN FIT-but not without taking away from that other puzzle the piece originated from.
and you sir have just proved you are a casually and a movie watcher you dont know the comics if you did you would know that what makes it so good the different worlds they live in just like in the batman the animated series and superman there was two different worlds that look nothing alike but when they got together none of that mattered

the batman takes place in 2019 or 2024 cuz October 31 is on a Thursday on both those years

Fav youtuber W video as always
i am honestly fine whatever they choose to do with Batman, i am curious tho if James Gunn and Matt Reeves r waiting for the Penguin to see how it’s received before making any decisions. there’s been no news on Brave and the Bold, not that that means they’re not working on it, but there’s at least been a handful of rumors for other projects. so to me, it makes sense that they might wait to see the audience reception of the Penguin and then Matt and James might go back to the drawing board
Im so split on this too but im glad that I have your videos to really help visualize and think out these things that I can't talk to anyone about 😅
they definitely need to it would be amazing and the contrast between the two would be so good to see!
Dick Grayson, Barbara Gordon and Tim Drake, my favorites to which I want to see in the DCU!
The same case happened in 2011-2014 with people on Batman bale and superman cavill

2021 - The first Batman film takes place. A few months later, in the same year, Bruce adopts Dick, who soon becomes Robin.
2022 - Barbara becomes Batgirl, Kara becomes Supergirl.
2023 - Dick becomes Nightwing, Jason becomes Robin, but a couple of months later the Joker shoots Barbara and kills Jason.
2024 - Tim reveals Batman's identity and becomes the new Robin. Barbara becomes the Oracle.

I wish you'd stop taking The Suicide Squad in consideration like it's canon for the DCU.
1:13 Oh please ENOUGH with that rherotic. No, it won't. Pattinson is clearly labeled as an ELSEWORLDS while DCU Batman is main canon. What's so hard to comprehend about labels?
Hey i had kind of a fun idea for a video (i think)
What if the multiverse saga had the same structure as the infinity saga
Also loved the video :)
This is just my opinion, but regardless, if they keep some of the actors, I think the DCU should just start a clean slate. The suicide squad was a fun film, but it’s too strongly connected to the original DCU for the timeline to work with completely newinterpretations of the league
This could be crazy
I think Robert Pattinson should definitely be the dcu Batman since he’s my favorite Batman actor because it wouldn’t make sense for their to be 2 Batman actors at once
This is the same problem the New 52 had lol. The 5 years thing is super weird to try and wrap your head around.... I could get behind it. But I would enjoy it more if the DCU's story had its own Bats
Good thing I watched this video, because I was on board with them changing their mind and making The Batman cannon. But this video changed my mind so hard
Hey, i have a great idea for a new universe constructing vid.
How about you make it a video of like the Vought Cinematic universe? Consisting of the supes in that universe and have teams like The Seven, Payback, Guardians Of Godolkin and G-Men?
Glad I’m not alone in thinking this.
As much as I love seeing “the Batman” being its own thing , there’s also a part that would’ve loved to see that movie and its universe be one of the starting points for James gunns dc universe.
I would still have the DCU Batman suit look armored. Your idea could work
0:59 for the DCU batsuit, they should give it that classic vibe. But of course take the iconic designs from the comics. Like they did with the DCU Superman suit.
I need a fresh Batman. Battinson belongs in DC's Elseworlds division with Joker since he is not part of the DCU. Even Matt Reeves prefers to be separate. My pick is Zane Holtz for the DCU Batman. DCU audiences are more than intelligent enough to understand the two Batmen. Especially when the films would be labeled differently to bring separation.
I love the fact of 2 separate Batmans. It's just more Batman content for us. One in a very gritty and grounded take on the character and one far more comic accurate. And I think for casual viewers if it confuses them that much then I think they would just look it up and be able to find the answers to their questions.

You only asked if you could, you never stopped and asked yourself if you should

This might be crazy, but what if Pattinson gets casted as the DCU Batman while he does his Reevesverse trilogy? Same actor doing two different versions of the exact same character, one a bit older with a son and the other a younger vigilante finding his footing. A kin to James McAvoy playing vastly different Charles Xavier's each movie while they're the same core character. And hell, we've gone through a world where Sean Connery popped up out of nowhere with Never Say Never Again in the midst of Roger Moore and Timothy Darlton. This could be done.
For the Flash in this DCU timeline, I’d actually love if Barry is an older member of the League and acts as a mentor for the other heroes. Then, when he dies in whatever crisis happens, Wally takes up the mantle and the roles are reversed with Wally learning from the League.
Podría ser como Hank pim en el ucm que ya está retirado el y le da a Wally el traje
Fans want Battinson in the DCU but fail to realize why it wouldn't work. Reeves wants more realistic approach, James doesn't. Not to mention we're getting Titans in DCU. So already that doesn't work.

I’m sorry, I know I’m nit picking, but it’s Batman isn’t necessarily a person, but he’s more supposed to be a symbol that criminals fear, and people can feel hope, therefore it would would batmans, and not batmen.
I have an idea for a video ,please do that .
What if you get every marvel and DC production or almost every ,since 90s to today and make them part of a cinematic universe ,if you want you could use Batman 89 and reeves Superman anyways.
Some animated series and animated movies wouldnt fit but i think the movies ,some games like Arkham and Marvel Spiderman, and tv shows could fit . Yes i know this would need some rewriting but i have tried to do this and its possible ,you could create new projects ,use canceled projects and even future projects .
Well i know is a Challenge but i think you could that please try to do that .
I like the idea of The Batman trilogy being younger days of DCU's Batman
I honestly think "The Batman" should be incorporated into the DCU coz I've never seen a batman evolve from threats like the riddler to threats like Darkseid in live action and it would be interesting to see that play out, building Batman from the ground up
U dont have to change the title...it would just be The Batman Part II
Wait I’m the same age as The Batman? Nice. 👍🏻
can you make a video of what if the dceu was like the mcu
The Batverse movies are all prequels following the DCU's Batman in his earliest years. That's how you can tell way more grounded and dark stories, because as Batman grows older, he deals with enemies that are more asnd more fantastical. That's why I i think they were originally planning to release the Arkham show in the DCU before it was cancelled.
For me it doesn't fit. The universe of The Batman is more realistic, dark and down-to-earth, while the DCEU would be more comical, fictional and fantasy. The ideal way would be to have two types of Batman on screen, one with a more realistic and dark feel for a more adult audience (The Batman) and another more comical and fictional for a younger and family friendly audience (DCEU). Two different universes for different audiences. Now if James Gunn decides to put Robert Pattinson's Batman in the DCEU, it will break the entire realistic environment of the first film. It would be like taking Joaquin Phoenix's Joker and throwing it into the Snyderverse with Superman, Aquamen, Flash... it just doesn't fit, it's another style of film, script and direction, a totally different universe from the other. The Batman is like those darker and more realistic Batman comics, it's for a more mature and cult audience and it's perfect like that.
I’m okay with what they’re doing with Batman in the DCU🙂
“Colin Firth as the Penguin”
a few points I'd like to make,
the batman is not part of the DCU because Gunn wants it that way, but because Matt reeves wants it that way, he said that he didn't want to be tied down to a universe, but be able to make his batman how he wants.
second, peacemaker season one and I would believe the suicide squad are not canon to the DCU, but peacemaker season two is.
lastly, blue beetle (the movie) is not canon to the DCU, but the actor who plays him will continue to play him in the DCU.
This goes for both parties, James Gunn and Matt Reeves. Drop your EGOS. This is BRILLIANT. Just join forces already. PLEASE
That makes no sense. It was never Matt Reeves intention to put The Batman in a more comic book world. He wanted it to be grounded and realistic. Meaning Metropolis might exist, but there's no Superman because that's not what Reeves is going for.
They ain’t enemy’s???
Wrong stupid its a Multiverse so 2 different Universes.
You're*
What “EGO”💀?
They both respect each other, and James Gunn has already approached the idea. And Matt declined, instead of canceling his universe he welcomed it as an elseworld.
Honestly think the Batman should be a Max exclusive release going forward and the DCU Batman should get the main stage. Pattinson is a great Batman but the tone doesn’t seem vibrant enough to build a vibrant cinematic universe
Well when it is good idea of Pattinson to be dcu batman but I don't imagine him like someone that have 3 Robin's 2/3 Batgirl and has been active for over a decade he still gives me pretty year one /two batman vibes
unfortunatly an iphotetycal time skip would be needed for the batman to join the new universe , for growning of both his batfamily and the general number of superheroes around , i don t see that happening
Teen Titans- Robin (Dick Grayson), Starfire, Supergirl, Beast Boy, Cyborg, Raven, Wonder Girl (Donna Troy), Aqualad (Garth), Speedy (Roy Harper) & Kid Flash (Wally West)
I prefer what's actually happening, and only because The Batman very gritty and realistic. If James Gunn was planning from the beginning to incorporate this version of Batman into the larger DCU, then he would've worked around it and made his reboot less like it actually is.
I’m ok with they are planning
It's a tough decision for me. My heart wants to see Robert Pattinson's Batman incorporated into the DCU, but my mind wants to see Matt Reeves' vision of the separate Bat-world he's created.

I think Batman should be referenced too in Superman. Like somebody says a flying man with super strength & shoots lasers out of his eyes is even more dangerous than that nut who fights other nuts in Gotham, something like that. Bruce Wayne/Batman need's to be formally introduced in his own movie.
I really want this because I personally think that Robert Pattinson is perfect as Batman.
They can easily say put Robert Pattinson in the DCU and simply not connect it to The Batman just as they're doing with Peacemaker Season 1 going into season 2. Easy.
Matt Reeves' and Gunns's past comments about this Batman being standalone would still be true
Batman should get the rebirth suit, new 52 suit, Batman earth one suit, earth 2 suit & Batman Inc suit
If they wanted to do Mr freeze for the Batman part 2 (they may do it) I think they could use the Batman to build the DCU. Implementing more fantastical elements ain’t a bad idea and having Superman exist in the same world but having a different tone is fine. But I don’t mind two different cinematic universes as long as they’re good. Especially if we get more grounded and edgy Batman and a more goofy, swashbuckling and epic JL founding member Batman
I swear James said tss and peacemaker season 1 wasent gonna be in the new continuity, and he never said the events of blue beetle would have been canon
Matt Reeves' intention with the Batman was to be grounded and realistic. He doesn't want a more comic book looking world. No campiness. It's a big reason i didn't like the movie. I'm honestly kind of tired of them making everything realistic. I'd like there to be a proper balance between being grounded and campy, sor of like the Raimi Spiderman films. Making it part of the DCU goes against Reeves' vision for the character. It doesn't make sense because it doesn't fit. It would be like trying to put the Nolan movies in a universe with super powered beings. That wasn't the intention for Nolan.
Your missing a crucial element, some of these heroes have been around for decades(like JSA etc), so Hal Jordan will be in his late 40s and John Stewart will be the main GL for this universe like he was in JLU(hopefully more character development than the comics and they give him a mask)
While i wouldve preferred it if Battinson was made into the main DCU Batman, im open to seeing two different interpretations on screen at the same time, as long as its done right.
Gunn asked Reeves if he was interested in merging the two but reeves didn’t want his story to be held back by having to be shared with other writers projects and Gunn respected that

Let it go
Speaking of Batman, Do you think Richard Madden should play Batman, Jason Statham should play Alfred Pennyworth, Leo Howard should play Nightwing and Gordon Cormier should play Damian Wayne Robin in James Gunn DC projects in the DCU?
I think they should retcon The Batman's timeline by setting it in the mid 2010's and have the trilogy be a prequel to the Brave and the Bold. That way it would correlate better with the DCU timeline🤷🏽♂️
The batman trilogy could just be a prequel to the current dcu
I think they should keep them separate. The Batman will no doubt be a trilogy so they could have them come out every three or four years stretching out the story plus it would sort of match the tone of The Batman universe. Then have multiple consistent DCU projects releasing in-between, I think this would create a difference between the two universes. DCU being populated with different characters and relapsing constantly like the early MCU did and then The Batman Part 2 and 3 be released every few years.
i always said these two should be in the same universe, batman can still be grounded that’s what makes him different and contrast against the fantasy elements
It really depends on how good the Braves & the Bold is to me
one option its to make a outsiders movie or tv show, since batman and nightwing are members of this group in many formations

I think the cleanest and best option is just to make The Barman universe canon to the DCU, scape the Brave and the Bold/Teen Titians plans and let the bat family grow naturally over the 10 year plan, recon Peacemaker to not be on a squad with Harley (or scrape season 2 which it's too late for), and dismiss the Blue Beetle movie while keeping the actor like they are with others.
My biggest problem with the DCU so far is that they're keeping some stuff from the old canon which is causing this mess. Should've just started from scratch with The Batman and Superman(2025).
