I work in radiology at the hospital at night. I often have patients who sport some sort of tattoo, clothing or accessory that gives them away as a Pokémon fan. Been telling all of them about this podcast. Really digging each drop you guys do
that’s nice! I wonder if some of them are watching now 👀
Thanks so much! We appreciate you! 😭💙❤️💚
That's an interesting story of how people are being introduced to new content creators, which is widening the audience of the pod. Good job contributing to this cuz these guys are so fun together & the videos certainly warrant more views!
Po-Ké-Mon combing the power as one
Po-Ké-Mon getting armored evolution
Flying Type always felt like an accessory first and foremost. Should've been subdivided into Bird and Wind.
They still keep the same 3 weaknesses, but Bird gets Poison and Wind gets Fire as the extra ones.
This means that Rowlet being Grass/Bird would be 4x to Poison and Tropius being Grass/Wind is 4x to Fire.
1:21:14 If I remember correctly, all doves used to be called pigeons. Maybe the other way around. The only difference between doves and pigeons is the name, they’re in the same genus of birds
Flying type was a great type to do a deep dive in to because it's always been somewhat taxonomically based with your bird-Pokémon but then had random stuff thrown in also with your "wind" things like you guys covered. Which is super different than the other taxonomic group Bug. Like there are no Pokémon that have a bug typing that don't appear insect-like which seems weird to have both of these typings exist lol
Defending my buddy Cramorant- not only is he a bird, but he sends fish and pikachu flying.
Point to Lumi, and fitting in well with his recent Australian region, think the only time I've seen a Cormarant actually fly is at the Australia Zoo when they were showing a demonstration.
And to Soul's point, does he mean like Eevee, and how it fully loses the normal typing?
But to do that for a 3 stage evolution could be really fun!
The thing that instantly comes to mind is a Normal egg Pokemon, into Fighting/Psychic Pokemon, into split evo, where it becomes Steel/Electric robot, Ghost/Dark spirit or Fairy/Flying angel.
And point to Dusty, great work, always doing an awesome job of hosting.
On a final note, the argument for a Wind and Flying type separation makes me think of it almost being the reverse of how people talk about Ground and Rock being the same type. They have overall similarities, but when you get into the finer details, they can really be quite different.
Also, what would be the strengths/weaknesses of a Wind type?
8:48 Roadrunners do fly, they’re just really fast while running. They fly to get out of danger like on top of cacti and such.
Hitmonlee should be flying fighting because he flies through the air when he does high jump kick 😂😂
Ngl Lumi, when you said "would beat Xerneas' grass"... I had to rewind the clip😅
At 1st I was like oh no Dusty corrupted my boy! I should've known your righteousness is an armor.
Iron Valiant and Iron Jugulis are counterparts to each other. Think about like this, these are basically weapons of mass destruction Darth Vader would use Iron Jugulis as enemy drones missiles and the Jedi would use the Iron Valiant as stormtroopers. They would knock each out because IV's fairy typing would be super effective against the dark but IJ's flying type would be super effective against the fighting type. Each being able to always take each other in war without having a full home court advantage.
yep i agree with the revelation at the end of this video, Flying type is in fact 1 of the 18 types
It’s a bird became the it’s a man of this episode 😂
Masquerain makes sense as a flying type as it shows/mimics the life circle of the mayflies, they start as water insects who metamorphosis to fly for 24 hours to breed before they die. I wouldn't call that boring, it's educational. Also water bug may be a more interesting type but that has nothing to do with what the pokemon represents.
Its kind of like in Yugioh where there are three different types of monster that basically make up the Water attribute in Aqua, Fish, and Sea Serpent, but then we have Reptile and Dinosaur. Sometimes it's about the anatomy of what they are classifying. But I can't get over Grass type not being Plant type.
I think i read on bulbapedia (you can look at Japanese names of moves translated by the way) how fire didn't resist ice in gen 1 so technically charizard was weak to ice then😂
Also when you go through the movepool of a pokemon on bulbapedia you can switch the generation listed there
I honestly think if GF ever added the sound type they could totally replace the flying type on Noivern with sound type!!! And my only reasoning is because, when people think of dragons in the most TYPICAL fashion... they are naturally flying creatures, even in Chinese mythology, dragons have zero wings but still fly!!! And to further go on this topic, I think that if GF wanted in the future, they could TOTALLY be cheeky with a Pokémon's typing and make it entirely flying themed but just use "its a dragon" as the excuse for not having the flying type added onto it, regardless though great episode fellas!!!
Gen 3 needed team sky
Good point. Elements in other games are like Earth, Water, Fire, Air, Light, Dark etc etc
Yea i agree if it's bug type and has wings it doesn't need the flying type because obviously it flies lol
A Fire/Dragon Charizard would actually be weak to Ice type moves because only in Gen 1 are Fire types neutral to Ice :0
Flying is effective against fighting becasue when birds fly by us we always try to swat at them or fight them off but it never works lol that's my only guess ! Also imagine a fighter actually trying to fight a bird it'll never work they'll just get annoyed lol
Thought A new lockstin video was posted. You three should get him as A guest.
sandy cloak wormadam is also bug/ground, Lumi
He forgets Wormadam at first, but mentions its Sandy Cloak form at 1:18:00 as Burmy's evolutionary line comes up for discussion. I dont blame anybody for not remembering that it's among the only 2 Bug/Ground Pkmn that currently exist cuz not all Burmy will become Ground-type upon evolution & you'd be better off making ur Wormadam Bug/Steel regardless.
Flying should be called Air or Wind type and Normal should be Beast type imo. Some of these Normal/Flying types would make more sense.
31:32 like regular ass Cubone evolving into fire ghost Marowak
33:52 oh dammit lol
Were too quick to comment to try correcting a mistake. Coulda waited 2 more minutes.
I wish they would just rename it 'air' type, that would just solve so many problems for me
Also, shout-out to Drfloon, my favourite ghost!
4:09 Gen 1 had only exact 40 damage Dragon Rage for a Dragon type attack so Water/Dragon would have 0 weaknesses since Ice would be neutral anyway
9:38 there's another Dodrio one where it spins its heads like a helicopter to fly which I find funnier 😂
16:45 has anyone had duck with Leek? And was it because Farfetched's dex entry said it tasted good with it 😂
19:00 I need a Lumiose Post badly explains type match-ups series at this point 🤣
Why is Electric weak to Ground? Because if you bury a Pikachu alive underground, it will die! 🤯
1:37:21 we do have the Flying Pikachu TCG plus Captain Pikachu loves Flying
1:37:25 One winged Pokémon that always interested me is Clefairy/Clefable
Clefairy can float by storing moonlight in its wings
Clefable can skip like it's floating using its wings
Can learn Dual Wing Beat, too
1:38:57 Arcanine should be a Flying type since EP002 of the anime confirmed it as the Kanto 4th Legendary bird 😂
1:42:19 would've been cool if kept it as Stick and let Braixen/Delphox and Grookey line hold it for crit boost as well
I think the type order has to do with the design if I tell an artist flying water type they will probably start with a birdlike creature but if I said water flying then the artist may start with a sea creature design that can fly. Then I think some designs are drawn first rhydon for example which shares a lot with nidoking and both could be considered dragon like creatures
Serebii is like celebi with a thick Asian accent... And nidoking and queen should be dragon type but poison ground is really good
Can SoulSilverArt PLEASE stop flexing his beautiful hair every episode??
If I were him, I'd do that too, honestly.
flying type should just be air type. anything that magically uses airbending basically. just like how electric types have the power to bend electricity and ground types have the ability to bend the earth etc. I guess they’re too afraid of changing it because they can’t go back and change the old games, but to be honest fans would probably like it more and think of it as a positive change but we all know game freak is afraid to change what has been working for them smh
Castform changes its type? And there’s alolan vulpix/ninetails
Simply put, it shouldn’t be CALLED flying and espathra is sentient cloth not a bird
I love hidden power ❤
We love YOU! 💙💚❤️
Soul silvers attitude is so pretentious. Dude didn’t even know Hydreigon was dark dragon lol
I am the sky
