Dr Zach, thanks for all your hard work. I absolutely appreciate what you share with us. A quick question: why, in your opinion, do shoe companies not put in better inserts? I realize it would increase their cost basis, but it seems the resulting increase in sales would pay for itself while blowing all the "resistant" competition out of the water...
It would alienate so many people who want to put their own in or don’t want a beefed up insert in- plus the factory ones only last so long and most people want something more custom than what would be provided by a generic mold
Per usual I agree with just about everything you said! But in the week or two I’ve had them, I fixed a problem or two I had. First, I encountered the fold between the toe and foot part. It actually made a “pop” sound for the first few minutes. It went away after that, so that didn’t bother me once they were broken in. Also, what I did for the foot slightly moving around a bit was tie the shoes SUPER tight. It made a world of difference from having a little bit of slippage or the ankle turning thing. I have flat feet as well. The shoes almost seemed made to be tied super tight IMO. Overall I love these, might be my go to’s for a while. The shoelaces were way too long, I’m stepping on them like crazy. Will have to replace them because they won’t last much longer. These were the negatives, there were so many positives as I mentioned on your last video. Great review for a very solid show from NB 💪🏼 love your channel!
I was just about to put an order on this shoe but after I saw you moving back and forth (3:34) and saw your foot unstable in the shoe, I changed my mind completely.
Great review! I played in the lav 2 today. It’s definitely an improvement over the last one. Felt much more stable. The midsole felt similar to v1. One note worthy thing about v2 compared to v1 is that it felt like it had a little more medial support, where v1 felt like a true neutral… so far, it’s the best shoe for me. Too bad I stocked up on v1
These are the best shoes after tearing down Lav 1, front is way ticker than lav 1 and it really does not have the tennis shoes feeling. I have overpronation and wide feet. So i can say these are the best shoes ever i tried and wear. Wish they had better colors in EU 😅
This is a fantastic shoe review. I haven't seen reviews at ground-level before. It's nice to see what the shoe does when you stress it laterally. My main disappointment is that New Balance doesn't make this in XW and XXW. I have worn New Balance for tennis for the past 20 years and my current tennis shoes are the NB 857 V2 in XXW or 6E. New Balance makes very few shoes in 6E but they used to make just about everything (for men) in 4E and the LAV V2 is a rare one in that it isn't in 4E. I hope that it isn't the start of a trend.
Did the toe crease popping dissipate with time? It seems that every pair of asics I’ve tried on in the last three years has had a similar thing, which I’m hoping to avoid. Thanks so much for your review!
Love your videos Zach, keep up the excellent work! You mentioned these aren't the best for people with flat feet and that's something I really worry about. I've been playing a lot of pickleball lately and its destroyed my knees... Is there a shoe that you can recommend that would be better for flat feet? The shoe would also need to have a wide option, I have very wide and flat feet.
@Dan B Yeah I've been using the GP since the review here last year :) the only issue I have with it is I have to order 1/2 size up (correct size pinched my foot horribly) and as a result my foot slides around. But the comfort and cushion have been fantastic (I came from the Vapor X which I loved but after 2 hours of play the balls of my feet would be killing me - the GPs I can play in comfortably for 4 hours).
Hey Zach, thanks a lot for a wonderful video! I have normal width flat feet - can you please recommend me some good tennis shoes? Thanks in advance and keep up the good work!

I would say it’s probably one of the better sized ones yeah- I know it comes in a 2E but it may come bigger once all the colorways are out
What shoes would you recommend for an overpronator?
You can check out this video, I have time stamps for all categories just search for what you need in particular and a few shoes should match, you’ll get a decent list of shoes to try for your individual foot - check out the flatfoot section , those are my favorites for over pronators: ruclips.net/video/SR184Qa2Ado/видео.html
Great shoe but why oh why do they have such limited / weird colour choices for them?
Haha I like the purple and blue one actually
Hey Doc, any chance wilson rush pro 3.5 is on your list for review and teardown? :)
If they send me a pair I will- I’ve done a few Wilson shoe videos and no one watches them- hard to justify spending the money TBH
@@FootDoctorZach what would be your next best recommendation for player using solecourt boost? They're always out of stock, but i do love them cause it ended my plantar fasciitis and no forefoot pain when playing. Just searching for an alternative for it
There aren’t many shoes like those- closest I would say would be the lotto raptor hyperpulse 100 or for just pure cushion the GP turbo but the turbos are quite a bit more narrow- diadoras are also somewhat similar but it’s tough because the scb is such a unique shoe
If you only have access to the standard width, will it be wide enough in the toe box for people who need extra room in that area? I saw complaints about the original Lav being too narrow in the toe box and it's something I need to avoid. However, you seemed relatively happy with the standard size. Does the Lav offer more room than a shoe like the KSwiss Hypercourt Express 2 or the UltraShot 3?
It’s slightly wider in its standard size, something like a D+
@@FootDoctorZach Thanks mate. Do you think it's a much better shoe than the Hypercourt Express 2? Price out here is relatively the same and stability (especially side-to-side) is key
I’d rather have these myself- hyper courts are good too just don’t breathe well
Can you help me? Here in Brazil we cant try every shoe, so... My Lav1 is totally destroyed, so im going for a new one, what do you think, LAV2 or Barricade?
Just depends what you need in terms of fit- I go into detail on both teardowns
Are these for wide feet? I desperately need to find wide tennis shoes
I got into detail about it in this video : ruclips.net/video/gc4zb6bbYQs/видео.html
Which version of the LAV do you prefer? The V1 ot the V2?
V2 by a long shot
Perfect!! That will be my next shoe😎👍
Are u gonna test the ROGER pro?🙏🏼
Yup Sunday or Monday the video will be out
@@FootDoctorZach Nice!!!
Dr Zach, comparing the nike gp turbo with the new balance lav 2, which one has more cushioning?
another question... the nike fly by mid 3 could be an option to practice tennis? greetings from Bahía Blanca (Argentina (the land of Manu Ginóbili))
I used the google translator to generate the questions, I hope it is understood.
LAV is softer cushion- GP turbo is more pillowy and airy , bouncy
hey zach. I cant buy the soul court boost nowadays and I need new shoes. do u think the fresh foam Lav 2 2E size is the closest/good alternative? Im a wide footer and my soul court boost is about to die. whats your thoughts? thanks mate
Yeah probably- not much else comes close tbh
@@FootDoctorZach i was checkin on 2E of asics gel reso, kswiss hypercourt, NB lav2. do u think the lavs are better option? im not sure about the asics gel reso
I have flat wide feet but really want to use this shoe, can I replace the insole with a custom arch orthotic and it be okay?
I couldnt tell you for certain but an orthotic should help- these so fit wide feet better than most shoes though
@@FootDoctorZach thanks Doc!
I tried these on and both sides of both ankles rub.... anyone else have that or will that go away after break-in. Dont feel that in the 996v5
Probably the way the collar hits- if it hasn’t broken in after a few days it probably won’t
@@FootDoctorZach Thanks
These shoes are quit similar to asics resolution 8
I like them more- better uppers, better tread IMO, i like asics foam better though
Yea But still they are not going to match the sells 😂😜
Somebody try to use this shoe on clay?
You’ll be ice skating ⛸️
