    You got me on to Diadora with the Blueshield 5, which I loved. Got a pair of the Icons a few weeks ago, and I couldn’t agree more. Huge winner. Absolutely a shame that a lot of rec players don’t know about this brand, because these last few releases have been some of the absolute best on the market, IMO. (Along with Lotto with the Raptors.) Hope you review the Torneo’s as well, they’re also great.

    Got my pair of Diadora B.Icons yesterday and played in them today. Zach's review is spot on! These are a very unique shoe in that they have the comfort and cushioning of a heavier shoe in a quick and nimble performance package. Amazing! I would have to give the Diadora B.Icon a perfect 10 in all categories. It is the most complete shoe I have ever worn - superb cushioning, breathability, performance, and stability. This has to be the #1 shoe for 2022. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

      Glad you like them! how was the sizing

    • @markmoore5981
      @markmoore5981 2 года назад +2

      @@FootDoctorZach The sizing was as you said. They might be a cm or two longer than the same size in another brand, but going down a half size made them feel a tiny bit cramped in the toe box. I ended up staying with my normal size and a thumbnail of room between the end and the longest toe. That gave my toes enough room to spread a little.

    For anyone like me who was looking for a video or info on the 2023 B Icon 2, there currently is no info anywhere, outside of a single post on the Tennis Warehouse Forum. The B Icon 2 is definitely a different fit and size than the original mentioned in this video. Where you had to size down in the original B Icon, you need to size up in the new B Icon 2. I wear a 10.5 in my daily shoes, and a size 11 B Icon 2 fits very snugly. The toe box has also gotten a little narrower. I have a standard foot width and there is just a bit of pressure on my pinky and "ring toe" in the size 11, while having a thumbs length in front of the big toe. I was super nervous to pop the tag off and play in them as I thought I might have needed an 11.5, but after playing in them, they are very comfortable. I believe anyone with anything wider than a standard foot should disregard the new model, and everyone should order at least a half size larger than their true foot size. I don't have as much knowledge as Dr Zach though, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

    Super review, timely too for me as I just bought a pair. I have a wide foot and they do feel a tad narrow. Can't find a Blueshield5 to try so also bought a Torneo. That feels slightly wider than the B. Icon, but based on your description of the Blueshield5, the Torneo seems not as wide as the 5. As to weight, the B.Icon (size 9) is 13.5 and the torneo (9) 13.7. By reference the Asics Gel res 8 in 92E weighed 14.5. I think the Blueshield5 would be just right for me, but moot as there aren't any. Anyway, thank you & keep up the great work!

      @silberfarb 2 года назад

      @@steveg.7490 It's a very close call. I chose the BIcon and have played with it 3x a week for about a month now. Obviously I could only try the Torneo on at home on carpet. So I don't have real court time with it. Both shoes felt very stable. As compared to the Torneo, the BIcon felt slightly roomier in the toe box and a smidge lighter. I wouldn't mind a tad more room in the toe box though. No heel slippage. No blisters. No need for inserts. No numbness. The sole is sticky but just right -- has a bit of a give to it but without slipping or sliding. I've been very please. Only question now is durability -- at $150 I'm expecting better than average durability. Hope this helps & good luck!

    Hi Doc-
    I've been wearing the Blueshield 5s on your recommendation since last September and loving them.
    I'm a 3.0 - 3.5 player, 47 years old, 185 lbs, who plays 3-5 times a week: mainly clay courts in summer and hard court indoors all winter, singles and doubles both.
    My Blueshield 5s are starting to look like they could use replacement (I should have bought two pairs so I could rotate them). For all court play, would you recommend I try these B.Icons or the new Blueshield Torneo's? Do you recommend the B. Icons on clay?
    Also, any experience with the dedicated clay versions of these?
    Thanks again for your great reviews!

    I'll admit I bought these simply for looks. The price tag was the only thing that kept me from buying sooner. These would be the most comfortable court shoes I have ever owned with one exception, they run hot. It's summer in Florida and I have dishwater feet within an hour of playing in these on any given afternoon. These offer excellent stability and movement. They play very light. I am a toe dragger and I can attest these are not the most durable on the top or bottom. I have only washed them once because the first run in the machine resulted in some delamination of the upper material. All that said, I wish I had disposable income so I could own several pairs of these because they are a good looking comfortable shoe. Unfortunately durability at this price point is hard to swallow. If I buy another pair, I will probably wear them more in town to get my moneys worth and save them for fall/winter match play.

    Hi again Dr Zach. I'm going to ask an unrelated question here, because I doubt you'll notice a new question on a 2021 video post: If a Brannock Device isn't available (I'm overseas), once I outline my foot on cardboard, is there some way to convert and find my size? Using a tape measure, my foot's outline shows up as 11-1/2" (29cm) in length. Thank you! PS~ I am only concerned about length (not width). Thanks again...

      If that’s what it measures that’s what I’d go with - you may have to try a few shoes on in stores just to get a baseline - doesn’t have to be tennis or hoops can iust be running or something to see if you have enough room

    Question about sizing for these shoes: I normally wear two pairs of socks and size up a half size to prevent any toed jam issues. If I take a size 13 given the extra half size I normally have to add to have enough space to accommodate the extra pair of socks and the extra room in the toe in most shoes would I order the same here or can I get the same extra room in these shoes at my true size at 12.5? How much space should you allow ideally between the longest toe and the the front of the shoe?

    • @FootDoctorZach
      @FootDoctorZach  2 года назад

      I like going true with these because they are a tad long and just take a bit more time to break them in -usually just a finger width
