1:37 the change in grit from this part and about 10 seconds after is amazing! I have been a fan of Casey since I saw him on American Idol. I live for the times that he changes his singing from calm and innocent to a gritty "anger." The suspense is built up and then he just growls and lets it all out, what a true performer!
Never heard the original for this song, but this is so good that I'm worried the original won't live up to it. The arrangement is incredible, and the vocal treatment is masterful! So moody and soulful!
He is one of very few drummers (if not the only) I've seen play with them where you can clearly see his expressions and really seems into the song. There are a few times in this one like at 3:15 where you can see the feels on him. He's gotta be my favorite since Allan Mednard.
What note would that be in jazz theory? An 11th? Sung at the lower octave like that, it comes across as a tritone but totally works and is refreshingly unexpected
Every time I hear him sing I think to myself “Man, I just want to hang out with this guy.” He seems like one of the most genuinely interesting individuals out there. Bass+singing means he loves what he does cause that stuff doesn’t come natural, it’s time and practice in action.
Real funk/jazz/blues musicians know that the best gesture is the slow "no" head shake when you hear just the absolute raunchiest, dirtiest soul music. This dude knows.
When the song started, I was thinking "Man, I don't know about this one. His singing voice is all over the place, and the piano just seems off." And then 4:21 happened and my socks were promptly rocketed into the atmosphere. The shaky start was worth it for the magnificent pay off. God bless you Casey, Scott and the whole darn crew.
PostmodernJukebox I got tickets when you were in MN, but I had to cancel due to a family emergency. But I've seen every video with him in it, and have all his albums. He's amazing!
It's okay. Then again, a lot of the song's elements aren't to my taste. Singing softly in a half-whisper way weirds me out a bit, and the style wasn't to my interest. The tune itself is kind of dull in my opinion? You probably shouldn't listen to me, though. :P
Brilliant Brilliant Brilliant God - so many moods, phrasings, voices in that Casey Abrams. Scott, I Love the clothes especially the shoes!!! And the piano - ics are stupendous as always. And drummer man - you are PERFECT. Thank all y'all!!!!
dear god i already have hey there delilah as my ring tone i was sure i couldn't love his voice any more hell i bought his album ( it's good by the way) now he unloads this to my eardrums like a shotgun full of soul never stop ... please never stop
Jonathan Sundstrom Nope. It’s a thirteenth(6th). La. Go up two notes and you are at the tonic. First time I heard him do it was on Nature Boy in American Idol. Maybe the tritone between the minor third and the 6th are making you think it’s a #11? Both cases feature that devil’s interval. A minor 13th chord is hella cool. #11 endings are usually more for when you have a lydian(major) type sound. In minor keys a #11 will end up just sounding like a diminished chord which actually isn’t a very jazzy way to end a tune. Maj7#11 is a cool jazzy ending sound, but that’s not the sound here.
I was listening to this and completely forgot this was a recent song. This is postmodern in it's true form, and it was done SOOO well. One of the best PMJ videos to date. Well done!
Casey - my god man. This ought to be your signature song. Either way, I listen to it over and over. Of course, all your backup is a key part of the piece, but man, you own this one!

I adore Casey's rough voice. So much soul and feeling. Love this!
We never get tired of Casey! Have you seen us live yet?? pmjtour.com

the pianist is so good wtf???
Eooky Scott Bradley - his the best😉
yup. Scott Bradlee is amazing. one of the best pianists I've ever heard. it's part of how he was able to start Postmodern Jukebox
It’s scott bradlee what did you expect?
Eooky lmao thats scott bradley he created this entire thing
"good" is not even close to the right word!
Never heard the original for this song, but this is so good that I'm worried the original won't live up to it. The arrangement is incredible, and the vocal treatment is masterful! So moody and soulful!
A fireplace and Casey singing with his bass... Is there anything else needed in this world?
Love how unpretentious Casey's voice is! No overdone vibrato to get in the way of the emotion! Man, I wish it had a bass solo in it though. A+
As usual PMJ takes a song that has plagued the radio and makes it good, thank you for your efforts.
Casey is the whole package! I love how how he sings, plays, scats, makes faces, and always finds the sweet spot in the music. LOVE this guy!
Gotta love the drummer's face at 4:57 :D he was not expecting that last note.
He is one of very few drummers (if not the only) I've seen play with them where you can clearly see his expressions and really seems into the song. There are a few times in this one like at 3:15 where you can see the feels on him. He's gotta be my favorite since Allan Mednard.
He is adorable
What note would that be in jazz theory? An 11th? Sung at the lower octave like that, it comes across as a tritone but totally works and is refreshingly unexpected
@@johnananda1 i think it is a #4th at that octave.
One of the best versions of this Charlie Puth's song, no doubt!
RIGHT SAID
Is it bad that I'm literally crying? This is just amazing. Period.
If it's a tear of love, never bad!
Well you're probably ON your period. Period.
But don't get me wrong it's amazing I was just joking 😂
Yeah its bad . Get oer the past
Every time I hear him sing I think to myself “Man, I just want to hang out with this guy.” He seems like one of the most genuinely interesting individuals out there. Bass+singing means he loves what he does cause that stuff doesn’t come natural, it’s time and practice in action.
The drummer is the most gorgeous man I've ever seen in my life goddamn
have you ever seen casey abrams tho
bad that I'm literally crying The drummer is so supportive Casey i love you So good at every song he sings. Always kills it
It's one of the best covers I've ever heard.
Every singer wants their drummer to look at them the way this drummer does at the end 😻😻😻
Deep, sensory, smooth and beautifull - this cover in four words.
Thank you, Marysia!
Thank you for answer, guys :)
Scott, Casey Bassy & PMJ are like ... chocolate & peanut butter ... they just go so well together!
The drummer is so supportive of Caseyy haha I had the same reactions as him

The only thing that could make this awesome trio even better is Scott giving some back up vocals, that would be a dream come true.
He is a great performer ♥️
One of my favorite PMJ covers is of him covering Rihanna (umbrella)
Кэйси - гениален....... Ваш канал - глоток настоящего музыкальног воздуха ...... Я вас люблю......
so huge, half drunk, half depressed, but absolutely insane. Mega like!
Some of Casey best work. PMJ just get better and better.

you should. charlie puth is a real talent not like other 'name' artists
Same when i hear the originals i am weirded out
Duct Tape You should really check out the original, Charlie Puth is an amazing artist.
It's okay. Then again, a lot of the song's elements aren't to my taste. Singing softly in a half-whisper way weirds me out a bit, and the style wasn't to my interest. The tune itself is kind of dull in my opinion? You probably shouldn't listen to me, though. :P

Casey's one of my favorite musicians. Love his interpretations
Casey's voice gives me the chills! Yet another beautiful cover, great job PMJ!
Casey - in a league of your own mate! Brilliant.
Chorus swept me of my feet, amazing work guys!
Why am I only listening to this now?!?!? 😮❤️❤️❤️
His Jessica Rabbit song was equally amazing.
It's maybe even better than the original version of the song. What a beautiful job !!!
Yet again, you successfully make a song Im sick of hearing into one I play on repeat. Never stop. Please.
This dude's voice is like gentle caramel syrup going trough all your body. What a cover. Dude. Perfect rendition.
Casey just kills it!

My favorite singer out of all of them here on pmj
Casey, YOU ROCK! Love your voice, man!
Scott is an encyclopedia of songs. He knows the obscure intros to every tune, whereas others just know the popular choruses.

Robyn Adele Anderson (from the older PMJ videos) did a cool waltz cover on her channel :-)
Cámbara Cámbara Joey would be great!

I'm never getting over Caseys voice.
Ahahahaha that signature 13th on the last note! ONLY CASEY!!!!! Love it.
Morganstudios its even cooler, cause it's actually a #11

You've been running round
Running round, running round
Throwing that dirt all on my name
Because you knew that I, knew that I
Knew that I'd call you up
You've been going round, going round
Going round every party in LA
Because you knew that I, knew that I
Knew that I'd be at one
I know that dress is karma
Perfume regret
You got me thinking about when you were mine
And now I'm all up on you
What you expect?
But you're not coming home with me tonight
You just want attention
You don't want my heart
Maybe you just hate
The thought of me with someone new
Yeah, you just want attention
I knew from the start
You're just making sure
I'm never getting over you
You've been running round
Running round, running round
Throwing that dirt all on my name
Because you knew that I, knew that I
