It kind of makes sense for the following reason: If you are pulling some high positive Gs, irrespective of your attitude it is probably going to feel like you are lying on your back. So the Soviet style AI shows you the attitude of the aircraft relative to the horizon irrespective of any current perceptual reference points. This means that as long as you always fly to the AI you are making the correct decisions. Whereas because in a 'traditional' AI the horizon on the instrument follows the actual horizon it is potentially possible for the pilot to second guess the instrument thinking it is wrong and hence make an incorrect decision.

I have an attitude indicator like the one in the middle of your video. The one with the red knob sitting next to the inverter. It has II22A on it. I am trying to find out information on the connector so I can try and make it run. It was removed from a PZL Orlike. Can you help at all?
