Weighing in at about 290lbs, I couldn't be happier in this kayak. This is my first one and coming from motorboats to this was a great investment. Fishing and manuevrability is a breeze in the sea ghost 110.
I'm about 6', 275, do you have any stability problems in the 110? Are you able to stand? I'm currently fishing out of a Pescador 10 foot kayak and I feel like I'm going to tip constantly and I'm looking to upgrade to a little more stable boat for my size and I'm torn between the 110 and the 130. Unfortunately there aren't any Vibe dealers around me to try them out :/
I just purchased a Sea Ghost 110 with rudder because of this video! Only live down the road from the HQ, so got a nice locals discount! Congrats on the PB
Chris, Thanks for a really great video (both videos for this model). Your time and effort is appreciated very much. You've made up my mind to purchase this model which i'm doing in 2 days. I've been a fisherman and boater for my entire life (71 years) but this will be my 1st Kayak (I'm very excited about it). I'll, always love my big Bass Boats but this is going to get me into places that I really want to fish but haven't been able to in the past. Thanks, again, my friend wonderful job. I did subscribe to your channel and gave you a "Thumbs Up".
@Outwestwithchris1 ,sorry random question but I have an option between the SG110 OR OLDTOWN SPORTSMAN NON PDL 120 ?for fishing.. wich 1 for a new kayaker ,and can I put a trolling motor on the kayak?
Had mine for almost 2 months now and i love it! When im on it, i typically dont latch on the 2 front bungie for the seat so when i stand up i just lift the seat back. Paddle sucks though, heavy and causes alot of a abrasions on my hand.
@@Nutakins stand up fishing is no problem for this yak. Only thing is if you're standing without moving the seat, your feet is wedged between that center storage. Not sure how different the new models are though.
Have had my 110 for a year now. I have done dozens of 12 hour trips in it on different bodies of water and I absolutely love it. Vibe addressed the few things I didn’t like in this years model. It’s the best fishing kayak deal on the market in my opionion
So I am pulling the trigger tomorrow and I am still between the sea ghost 110 or the vibe yellow fin 100. I am 5 feet 10 inches and weight 190lbs. I usually fish small rivers, creeks, and lakes and ponds. Typically shallow and go floating with friends when not fishing. So I am either going 110 or 100. Thanks this video was helpful
Oh yeah, it did good everywhere I tested it. I bounced that kayak off levee rocks, drug it through the mud, all of that. If the water got too shallow I would just raise the rudder and keep moving.
Bought my first kayak a couple days ago it's an acend 10t this summer I'm planning on getting into kayak fishing contest s I'm pumped I got a posdion 230 paddle I wanted a bending branch but gonna have to wait a while to upgrade or maybe not we will see
Great review, i have the sea ghost 130 and it is great. I was suffering extreme back pain from my sit in so i had to up grade.i am 300 pounds 6 foot and the 130 is perfect size for me. I have noticed that vibes plastic seems a little softer than other companies.
I thought about getting the 130. But felt unstable for me. So I picked the Lure 11.5. Headwaters kayak are awesome. Very knowledgeable people over there. That's where I will be getting my next future kayak.
I just bought the sg110 from headwaters, so far only 1 fishing trip in it to lake Mclure so far im loving it. I’d love to try it out in the delta, but last time I was there in a pontoon boat, there were so many huge yachts and speed boats making huge waves, I imagine it would be a little skechy, do you ever have problems with the boat traffic?
I've had a few times where wake boats were not paying attention and they got a little close. I'm used to the boat traffic now and the wakes. Some of the big yachts put of huge wakes and you do need to be aware, they can dump a boat if you don't reorient your bow.
Nice, I haven't paddled a 130 but would really like to at some point. The 110 handled some pretty wicked wake from a few yachts several weeks back. nothing like water breaking over the bow to get the adrenaline running. See ya out on the Delta, tight lines!
I'm definitely interested in this kayak. While not my primary purpose, I'd like for my fishing kayak to be large enough for myself and a child. Would this kayak fit that criteria?
LynchMob42 probably not Unfortunately. I personally can picture putting my 8 year old son in this one and having much room. I've never paddled the SeaGhost 130 but that might work.
LynchMob42 check out the Vibe Kayak Owners FB group. Plenty of guys on there have put their children and dogs in the sea ghost with them, and said they never once felt unsafe. Buying myself a sea ghost 130 this week.
Great video. I'm interested in buying my first fishing kayak. I'm 6', 200#, 51 years old physically fit.... how would this kayak be to load by myself onto the top of my Tahoe? Easy to carry to the water? Would a j-rack work for transport? Thanks!
I think you wouldn't have too much trouble moving it and loading it. IF the water is some distance away from your parking spot a kayak cart would be the way to go though. Not sure about the roof top rack stuff, my kayaks always go into a truck bed. Thanks for watching!
Dang man! Just throw a wacky rigged senko at some Tullies and you should catch something... Awesome that you are pumped with yours, that is good to hear!
Thanks for a great review. I am considering this kayak or the Moken 10 Lite. Do you have any experience with the Moken 10 lite? I am curious which is the most stable for fishing. I'm not a big guy(5'10 and 140 lbs) and will use my kayak on Stillwater/freshwater lakes. No rivers or ocean. Which of these two kayaks do you feel is most stable for my needs the Sea Ghost 110 or the Moken 10 lite? That's for your help.
Kenny Gilman I've never paddled the Moken but from what I have heard it is fairly stable. I would guess that you could stand and fish in the SeaGhost but I would also guess the Moken would be a little more stable. If you can, try to paddle both before you buy. Thanks for watching, hope that helps.
Awesome review, so I kayak fish in the ocean mainly and currently have an enormous tandem equinox Costco tandem kayak that is a beast fo 1 guy (80lbs+) and I'm in the market for a small fairly light, stable fishing kayak. What I was looking at was the Feel Free lure 11.5, and then I saw the vibe. I've read tons of reviews and the vibe (in camo blue) looks like it fits the bill. I'm not afraid of going out in the ocean by any means but just wanted your opinion on how well the vibe preforms in the ocean? Or if you have had a chance to test it in the ocean yet. I'm 6'1" 210 lbs. You think the vibe 110 is a good fit for my specs? Also another factor is I drive a short bed f150 with a bed extension and I do carry my 14' Costco beast in the bed currently. Thanks and nice 7lbr👍
I have not taken the Vibe, or the Feelfree, into the salt but if I had to choose between one of those two I would go with the SeaGhost 130. It will be easier to paddle than a Lure and easier to launch in the surf as well.
Just came saw your question...I just bought the 2019 Sea Ghost 110. First kayak. I'm 6'4" with long legs and this kayak is perfect for me. I tried the Vibe Yellowfin 120 but, strangely it had less legroom (length) than the 11' Sea Ghost. I really like it so far.
Chris not sure if you comment this yet was wondering how Tall you were and how much you weigh? Was thinking of buying the gs110 I’m 6’5 265 lb Do you recommended this kayak for big guys? Thx and great video and fish
I think you might need a little more boat. I'm 6foot and was about 200 when I was paddling that (gained some weight since) and I think it might be undersized for you. Take a look at the 130 though or maybe a Feelfree Lure 11.5. Hope that helps.
Nice review, looks real nice for the length. I notice you may review a few other kayaks. I have a Viking Profish 400 which I really like, not a standing kayak but good paddling yak. Maybe you'll review a Viking sometime? Wanted to ask you about your front GoPro setup - can you reach it and turn it on or do you use a remote. Many thanks -
Those Viking Profish 400 look really nice and I'd love to review one at some point. I'm actually not sure if any dealers in my area carry them though. I typically "borrow" kayaks from a demo fleet for some of these reviews, just because it would get expensive to purchase that many kayaks! Regarding the gopro, I can lean forward and click the record button on the one that faces me. I've tried using the remote before but it just seems to drain the battery a little faster. Thanks for watching!
Thanks I appreciate it. One last question is it easy to carry a small distances? But for long I would use a dolly. Some of my spots are just a short walk.
Yeah it isn't bad for a short distance when unloaded. That was one thing I really liked about it. I could carry it down the levees while larger kayaks I would have had to slide them down tearing them up on the rocks.
Hey Chris how tall/heavy are you? I'm pretty big, and I think to buy this 110 kayak. But I don't want to make a big mistake if not a right size for me.
For the way I fish I like the Lure better than the Vibe. Pro's for the Vibe - Cost w/ rudder included. Lighter than a lure. Faster than a Lure. Pro's for the Lure - Thicker Plastic (can take a beating). Even more Stable, makes standing and fishing ridiculously easy. Better Deck Layout than the Vibe (thru hull transducer mounting, wide open deck space, etc). The Wheel in the Keel is a very, very nice feature. Hope that helps.
Dewayne Webb I think it would be sufficient unless you wanted to stand up. When I first started paddling it the kayak felt "tippy" but I got used to it and became pretty comfortable in it. I'm 6 ft about 220 so we aren't too far apart size wise. I have a feeling you might be more comfortable with something a little more stable though. Hope that helps.
I am 6'5" and 265 lbs. I have the Sea Ghost 130 (Not the same boat, but close) and I can stand up in mine. I have never felt like I was going to tip over and I have ridden in kayaks that I couldn't keep straight up. I'd buy another one tomorrow.
Thanks for the review. I've been curious about those. Fishing out of my Tarpon 120 ain't always pretty so times coming to make the switch... perhaps to a Vibe. - Paddle On Brother!
What's up with the Tarpon? These are pretty nice for the price, they are like a true kayak so they can be a little tippy but they are fast and track well. Tight lines man!
Out West with Chris I got a sweet deal on the barely used Tarpon for 500 bucks in Central Florida so I've been paddling it for a few years. I'm getting close to moving up and spending some coin on fishing yak. I kind of dig Perceptions new pedal drive but still not sure which one I'll get.
Great review! I'm still torn between the Sea Ghost 110 and Feel Free Lure 11.5 for my 1st fishing kayak. Best bang for the buck is the 110 but leaning towards the Lure 11.5 for the seat and standing ability. Only con ive heard about is how slow it can be for paddling. So im wondering if its worth it to sacrifice speed over stability? Your thoughts? Liked and subscribe!
It kinda depends on how you plan on fishing. If you want to stand a lot then the stability of the Lure will be a big deal. If you are fishing lakes and you need to paddle far distances then the lure might be a bit on the slow side for you. Overall, the Lure has a great seat, way better than the vibe, and in my opinion it has a better overall build quality. Hope that helps!
One more for you. I heard in a separate video you have a feel free lure. How do these boats compare when it comes to stability? How do they compare overall? Thanks!
Yes, I do have a Lure 13.5 as well. The Lure 13.5 is much more stable than the vibe SeaGhost 110 but it is a tank in the water. The Vibe is easier to paddle in tight areas and feels a little faster and more nimble. The Seat on the Vibe is nice but the seat on the Lure is really nice (although there is an issue with a screw that works itself loose). Overall the build quality on the lure is better but the price point is higher as well. The Lure does not come stock with a rudder and it absolutely needs one. Hope that helps!
Yeah they do make a 13, SeaGhost 130. I'd like to try it out at some point to compare it. There may be footage somewhere of me falling out of a kayak, might hit the channel in the future. lol
It's been awhile since I paddled this one but I don't recall it grabbing weeds any more than most do. It's not the best rudder system in the world by any means but it doesn't cost an extra $200-300 after you buy your kayak either.
I own this same kayak there’s no way I would try and stand in this it’s way to tippie also the toe rudder controls really suck the metal clips always pop out while trying to control rudder also while using toe controls the plastic is real cheap feels like there going to snap while pushing down. Hard to use toe controls does not control rudder well the right one works ok left feels like it’s ready to break off and rudder won’t turn properly after many attempts still can’t control well.. If I could redo I would of saved a little more and bought a different brand
Bummer man, have you talked to your dealer about the toe control? There might be a tension issue with the line. I had this one for 6 months a used it hard and didn't have any issues. It is a little tippy with the primary stability but after I got used to the secondary stability I became more comfortable with it.
Out West with Chris yes I purchased kayak from Vibe the response I got back about clip was to screw them on or gorilla glue them so they don’t pop out and regards to rudder control they said I should loosen up cables so they may move more freely but not of that worked for me. I’m getting ready to change the cables to the metal ones. I do really hate the toe control can you recommend another way to control rudder without toe control? Thanks for the response love your videos my friend.
hmmm, toe control is all I ever have ever used for rudders. I think a lot of pedal drive kayaks use hand controls though. It might be possible to retrofit a rudder system that is hand control but I really am not sure. I think the metal cables are the way to go.
I have not but the owner of the kayak shop I borrowed it from did Surf it and said it was crazy fun to fool around in on the ocean. Now he's a way better paddler than me so I'm not sure I would want to try. I do know there are quite a few guys that take the SeaGhost 130's out in the salt.
Weighing in at about 290lbs, I couldn't be happier in this kayak. This is my first one and coming from motorboats to this was a great investment. Fishing and manuevrability is a breeze in the sea ghost 110.

Out West with Chris ended up going with the Lure 11.5. Thank you for the feedback!
You are welcome!
How deep are those rod holders?
I didn't measure them but a good educated guess would be 6 inches. Thanks for watching!
That fish was tail walking 6 feet at least! Nice
That was a fun one! Thanks for watching.
This or pelican catch?
oh man .... I thought you were gonna fall in!!! lol... kinda bummed... lol.. Great review. I am gonna have to try it out... Don't they make a 13?
Yeah they do make a 13, SeaGhost 130. I'd like to try it out at some point to compare it. There may be footage somewhere of me falling out of a kayak, might hit the channel in the future. lol

I'm looking at this kayak for my first one. Does the rudder grab easily on stuff when it goes through it? I'm not sure I like the rudder.
It's been awhile since I paddled this one but I don't recall it grabbing weeds any more than most do. It's not the best rudder system in the world by any means but it doesn't cost an extra $200-300 after you buy your kayak either.
great review!
Thank you sir!
Those we're some nice bass. They looked healthy
Yessir, good times.
Where is the motor
no need for a motor.
how much, Bud?
OldMan Skinner they run between $800-900. MSRP is $829 but ive seen them on Amazon for around $900. Not sure how much a used one would be.
Out West with Chris - Thanks Brah! Great video work. single handed? Nicely done sir. Keep em coming, great editing too.
Yeah single handed, stuck my tripod in the water and crossed my fingers. lol. Thanks for the kind words!
it's pretty crazy we're now saying 900 bucks is budget ! just sayin....
great vid... great kayaks
You are so right. Thanks for watching!
First negative comment I've heard about these Kayak's. Have seen nothing but glowing reviews. Maybe you got a lemon.
Kevin Breese your not the Kevin Breese from Oxnard California are you? Had a buddy in highschool with the same name, just thought I'd ask
Have you taken this yak to the ocean? If so how did it handle?
I have not but the owner of the kayak shop I borrowed it from did Surf it and said it was crazy fun to fool around in on the ocean. Now he's a way better paddler than me so I'm not sure I would want to try. I do know there are quite a few guys that take the SeaGhost 130's out in the salt.
No deck space
Use your thumb to land those bass like a man
1200$ is a budget kayak lmfao
