Shooting a Fashion Editorial on Medium Format Film with the Mamiya RZ67 Pro ii + Fuji Pro 400H
// Shot on location in Whitechapel, East London.
In this episode Jonny and Tom are joined by model and friend Hanna Fischer from Berlin, as they shoot 2 different looks in the form of a fashion editorial.
Disclaimer: I shot the first roll of film on slide film and then cross-processed during development. I was able to rescue the colours quite well in post, although they still feel slightly off to me. It was an interesting experiment, but I'm not sure I would do this again.

My favorite channel here on RUclips. Period.
Absolutely !🔥
Thanks guys!
Just SIMPLE!
No bla bla i like that!
Please make videos more Frequently ! The gaps in between videos are so long - I’m worried I’ll miss a notification and forget the channel exists !
I guess work and life can get in the way of projects like this for many people. I kind of like that we only get an episode every now and then, makes them more special.
I literally lived across the road from where some of these shots were taken in Sept 2018. Epic work
Fantastisch wie immer ;)
This episode is the best amongst all. The model is fire
There more episodes I see, the more I seem to fall in love with Jonny's Mamiya
My baby.
It’s Jonny who’s creating the magic 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
Awesomee...!!! Waiting for the next episode.
Great shots and lovely vid! keep us inspired!!

awesome video as always. she is so charismatic! and also spotted Nishika! can't wait to see some of those animatons.
They didn't come out very good I'm afraid, but we might do an episode on that separately ion the future.
Amazing shots and what a great model 👌
Thank you, and yes, Hanna is amazing!
My favourite video so far, love the shots!

Crazy good 🔥 mad props man!
Thank you Kevin!
I keep watching this episode over and over. Love the free spirit vibes your model Hanna is sending, great editing, fantastic music and sublime photos!! Keep up the great content! I've just bought an RZ67 pro ii, and your channel helped convince which MF film camera to buy (and Annie Leibovitz and Martin Schoeller :-) )
Just the music for me gets a thumbs up! The photos were great too!
Thanks Terrence!
Awesome video really enjoyed this!
Thanks Aaron!
Best BTS fashion editorial I ever seen.
Love it my G! 🔥
Thank you Ethan!
I think the disadvantage of shooting a waist level finder is that all your shots look like you're sitting on the floor. In some shots this view really works though... but not in all of them. Anyway I loved this series, pretty pics and pretty model
Love the vids and music.
Thank you!
Bro this video is 🔥🔥
Nice shooting!
This is 🔥🔥🔥
Thanks mate!
Damn this is exquisite. Super inspired to take some portraits.
Thank you. And yes, go shoot portraits!
Great video!
Thanks Sam!
Beautiful
great video concept! I just got a mamiya 645 1000s and it inspire me a lot for using it for the first time!
Thank you Roman, check our other videos. I have one on the 645 as well.
I just wachted it, great job as usual ;)
you made me wanna shoot editorial! good vid!
Thanks!
Great 🔥🙌
Nice !!!
so cooooooool
O my Got! My live just changed!
Amazing
Thank you!
love her
superb
Love the vibe of your vids! Was surprised by the german intro :)
Danke!
I had no idea that was cross processed Velvia, it looked great
Thanks! It needed a lot of love in the scanning to get it working. I had never used Velvia before, and hadn't realised it was slide film!
you probably figured this out already but just a little FYI if you haven't. You don't need to remove the entire back to load the film. You could leave the back attached and just remove the insert. Anyway, another great video!
Thanks! Yeah, I don't often do this, it's usually for the sake of filming
Great video...enjoyed it a lot. Curious, with the lux app you are using...do you recommend it for flash photography too? Can't find too much info about it. Thanks in advance.
I've never tried it for flash photography, I'm not sure it would work or if there is even a setting for it.
Would have loved to see shots with the Nishika. Other than that, great video!
Love my RZ67 too :) What scanner do you use? Great image quality.
fucking awesome
btw your operator does a superb job as always, he deserves a couple of shots too)
Awesome work love the content, what light metering app are you using ?
Dang that's good.
Always a treat. Thank you Can I ask what app you use for light meter? Cheers
Thank you Ciro. It's called Lux
6:25 !
That was very nicely done. I love the location and the model is pretty. The photos came out beautiful, love the muted colors you got by cross processing. Did you take any pictures with the Nishika?
I did but the light was too low and I didn't have a flash with me. Might plan an episode for Nishika soon though.
hey man! awesome video as always. would be nice if you upload more videos haha
Great vibe as usual. I’m no fashion photographer, but maybe the last light shots at the end might have benefited from a hint of fill flash?
Thank you! I'm sure it would have been interesting to try. I've personally never used a flash or strobe with this camera. But hopefully will get round to experimenting with this kind of shot in the future.
Unlike the Pentax 67, the Mamiya RZ/RB67 are great for flash work as they use leaf shutter lenses which sync with flash at all shutter speeds right to 1/400th of a second ....also for shooting the big Mamiyas hand held, it’s a good idea to shoot with a dedicated Mamiya hand grip which improves the ergonomics a thousand percent!
Gorgeous!!!! what is the app for the lightmeter in your phone? thx
Dig the content so much, please keep it coming! One question regarding the negative scans. Do you adjust levels on the Epson software or do you do the whole process on Lightroom, photoshop?
Thanks Tony. I scanned these using Epson scan, and then did quite a lot after in light room. But since then I've started using VueScan which seems to work much better for me. I've managed to get really nice scans using it, and hoping that will mean I'll end up using lightroom a lot less moving forward.
Eye Culture Magazine awesome! thanks for the info. I will definitely look into vuescan.
Hi Tony, just thought I'd follow up here to mention that I've just released some videos on scanning and editing on our patreon account. Feel free to check them out if you'd like more insight: www.patreon.com/radicaleyemag
I can't wait to shoot with my mamiya c220
amazing work, I just want to know where do you develop and scan?
I develop at Eye Culture in Bethnal Green, but scan at home with an Epson V600
Hi Ray, just to follow up. I've released some new videos about scanning on our patreon account incase you're still interested: www.patreon.com/radicaleyemag
Very nice video! No Blabla so everyone can enjoy the pictures
2:48 my man knows how to hop a fence
hey, did you edit those images or you uploaded them straight? great photos!
I scanned and adjusted a little in photoshop. But nothing too heavy.
Love the shots! Btw, what music did you use?
SINY - YMIR
@@architdharod9355 Thanks sir! Very much appreciated!
upload more often please thanks
what lightmeter app do you use?
Thanks for the vid. Perhaps next time use off flash for a dramatic high fashion look. That should give your overall pics more dimension as opposed to just one look.
shoot with me if you guys in Sac !
What app are you using to meter your shots?
He's using Lux
Link? Don't find it@@TheKevinklus
Can i ask what is name of application you use? i find exposure meter application, but i can't....i really appreciate it if you inform me that application. :) Thanks
It's called Lux
nice episode, could you please tell me name of the bgm? thank you
light meter app ?
Genuine question. Wearing sunglasses don't mess up the exposure in real time? :/
nope, i use a light meter, i don't meter by eye
superbe...110mm ?
Yep, all 110mm
Welche Blende benutzt du bei der Portraits? Danke im Voraus.
The ones at the start will have been between f4 - f11 i think. The ones towards the end will have been f2.8
Eye Culture Magazine thanks
What lens was that
Anybody know about the background track. Sounds catchy
Are you metering with your phone?
whats the name of the song?!
Is he using an app as a lightmeter. Does anybody know which one is it? Can somebody recommend me one? Thanks a lot!
It's called Lux, but I now use a meter
@@radicaleyemag i was thinking if buying a Seiko. Which one do you use? Thanks a lot for taking the time to answer. Greetings from Mexico.
Anyone knows the song of this video?
damn. okay. this makes me not want to sell of my rz67 now.
DO NOT SELL
YES, SELL! ... I'll send u my shipping address :D
how can you use a cell phone app as your light meter? isn't that no accurate as a real light meter?
T L there’s more than one way to light meter. Generally speaking smartphones have the capability of metering because that’s how the camera on the phone can measure light to expose the photo. The app is just leveraging the internal light meter and giving you the reading.
Can I achieve this same image quality with 35mm?
Hi Andre. I doubt it. The negative from a medium format camera is much larger than 35mm, and therefore produces higher quality images.
Why did you change the name of the channel?:)
The channel was named after a photo lab in London that I use. We decided to change the name to avoid disrupting their google search results, as the channel has grown quicker than expected.
Radical Eye Magazine: Ah, makes sense. Anyways, keep up the good work! This channel inspired me both to start shooting medium format film, buying a Mamiya RZ67 AND to start listening to Lofi music. It has been a big change for me in 2018. Your shots and vlogs are amazing, please don’t stop👍🏼
@@cfsch Thanks so much!
2:34 When the autofocus kicks in
;)
the video is cool, but that song was obnoxious
Mickaël Chénard Rioux the sound was sick
Annoying af.
Song was dope!
music was awful i had to watch this video in silence, the photos were great tho
