Yeah and then when I watched it, I cried too at the memories of us making cheese sauce together in that kitchen as kids. Before her vegan days of course. And had to hug it out 😭 lol! Even as her sister who already knows her feelings about most things her videos make me emotional lol
I am also emotional about letting go of the past. My mother, for whom I cared for a number of years, died 7 years ago. I am actually going through the same set of emotions and crying here at home in Dublin. My mother was from Leitrim and my dad, also deceased was from Dublin. So I'm in the throws of an upside down home with chaos around. I feel you are so good and such a good daughter. Love and hugs Angela xx
@phillyandkeely I have clutter all around me even before my renovations start. Old boiler removal from chimney then Dining Room and Kitchen floors pulled up and the dreaded damp and wonky floors to be replaced. Then all new flooring then goes in. Kitchen company holding my carcases for 2 months waiting for their part to jump in. I know this has to be tackled and can't procrastinate any longer. Well done to Philly not forgetting him in your parent's house renovations. Angela xx
You fooled me! When you said you were doing something for your parents while they were away, I totally thought you were going to do a van build for them. What a huge job, best kiddos ever! I’m so looking forward to this endeavour! You will do a brilliant job! ❤️
This is GREAT, watching other folk stress out over doing jobs that they have little or no knowledge of. 😳 On the job learning. Nothing quite like it, and, having a good laugh at the same time. 😂 Just be safe Guys, we know you can do it. 🏴🤪👍
Oh Keely, what a tender, sentimental heart you have, I love that. Philly, your quick wit always makes me smile, just love you guys. The Big Boy list is fantastic 👌 Doing this for Keely's Mum and Dad is a gift that will keep on giving. Loving watching the Reno 😊
Hi Guys . I must admit my cupboards had a good clean out by my daughter last year and its amazing what you find 🤐 yeap eye opening 😷 !!. Super kind for helping out Mum and Dad . You guys rock and are always up for hard work 💙🖖

Keely your list making is off the scale perfect. You and Philly are welcome to pop over to me when you’re finished and demolish my old kitchen. I’m only about 10 mile away from you 🥰
Well done 👏🏼 and you still made me giggle throughout…..especially when Philly brought the shopping trolley in 🤣 It’s going to turn out lovely, and such a wonderful thing to do for Keely’s parents, big love to you both 🥰🥰
I'm so glad we have a tiny kitchen with very little storage. However, I've just gone to check our spices & the first 2 jars I looked at expired in 2016 & 2017 😂😂😂 Time for a clear out!

It’s funny too how things seem like such a good idea until you’re past the point of no return and you realise the amount of work you have ahead of you. 😅 I just finished redecorating my kitchen but I left it at painting the cupboards and ceiling and putting up wallpaper on the walls. Omgosh guys...this is not a one off. My mother (at 81) broke her hip so I went to stay for two weeks when she got out of the rehabilitation hospital. I decided while there, I had to do an entire kitchen overhaul. Everything was spotless except that I found in the fridge 2 or 3 jars of mayonnaise, mustard, relishes, pickles, jams all of which were out of date. I found tins of soup, half used and put into the fridge, pushed to the back and forgotten. Almost everything in the fridge had to be discarded. Then I got to the freezer and I threw out EVERYTHING! The cupboards came next. My step dad before his death had been a stock piler, and there were literally hundreds of items that were well past date. I threw out garbage bags FULL of stuff. My mother was very upset saying she "could have used that stuff." My question to her was, "Why didn't you use them 15 yrs ago?" My lesson I learned then was to keep my kitchen sparse 🤣. Your parents are not alone in this.
Oh lord Philly, I’m loving your one liners….. ‘trying to figure how to polish a turd’ and ‘add plumber to the list of skills’ 🤣😂🤣 brilliant guys! I love the new project, I love your can do attitude and if not…. Oh well we’ll figure it out. Well done to you both for rising to the challenge

Realistically that wee van is outside our skill set, but we have actually found someone who wants to bring her back to life, so I think it's time I stop thinking selfishly about my dreams for that van and accept that she deserves to be back on the road and back to full health instead of rusting away at my hands. I don't want to let her go, I'm super emotionally attached to her, but she deserves a good life haha.
I’m helping a friend Reno his house and we’ve just finished the kitchen. When I cleaned out the pantry the oldest thing I found was a tin of baked beans that expired in 2007 🤣 I have complete faith in both of you, keep up the great work ❤️
Awww. We all do it! ( apart from fibbers 😳) I’ve found 17 year old baked beans….. and kept em! They are in a can. And ‘sell by dates’ are a marketing ploy 😑 😂😂😂 my grandparents ( and I’m ancient) ate things you wouldn’t eat for a dare….. and didn’t die of food poisoning 😂🤣😂🤣 x sweet episode, as always! X
Thirty seconds in and my heart is in my stomach!! 😱🤣 That spiral staircase is gorgeous, is it getting a zhoozh as well? Ummm, just how long was their holiday? 😳 Yep, Philly, that is one massive can(s) of worms. What was the expiration date on that can, BTW? That looked like some of the most gingerly, careful, intentional demolition I've ever watched on RUclips. 😁 It looked like nothing went right in exactly the right way, though (disclaimer: wholly uneducated opinion right there). Looking forward to your watching progress, Mimi & I have the utmost confidence in youse! ❤️❤️✌️😎xx

@@phillyandkeely watching this with so much trepidation. We bought a house that was built in the mid-80s and we’re renovating. Kitchen is planned for Feb once the heat goes here and it looks so much like your mum’s. 😮

Brilliant idea I’m sure your parents will love watching 👀 what you are doing for them . I’m 75 so maybe I should look in my cupboards 😂😂 . Love you both you brighten my day 🥰
Once again just super impressed with your go getting positivity. Totally get the overwhelmed feeling but taking things one step at a time is the right thing to do. Well done you two. ♥️
What an awesome thing to do for your family! So proud of you. (And tell your Mum not to worry when we cleaned out my Mums unit she had tins of fruit that were 30+ years old!) Can’t wait for next week. PS be safe when your working.
Hope your leg is healing nicely Keely and you dont overdo it with this project. Wonderful gift for your parents, I'm sure they will love it. Phils screams, spat my tea out twice 😂 tc ❤ x
Well done guys on the demolition of the old kitchen. Are you going to renovate the staircase? I think it will be good to take it back to its original state and paint it. Good luck 🍀. 🤞It all goes well. Take care and stay safe. 😊
Keely what the heck 😳 I never laughed so much at you two what a comedy duo 🤣, but seriously what a challenge but I know you will both do a great job 👏 although I’m glad I’m not your mother watching that back 😳
Omg! You two are so funny! I have to say that you remind me - so much - of the I Love Lucy show. Lucy (Keely) starts zany projects that immediately get out of hand, ropes Ethel (Philly) in to help fix everything, and then has to come clean with Ricky (also Philly + mom & dad in cameo appearances). I'm thinking you two need to star in the 2.0 version of the show. 😂😂😂😂 Love to you both crazy kids! ❤ Lauren❤
@phillyandkeely lol...that makes sense! It was a sitcom from the 1960's. Lucille Ball was a great and beloved comedian in the U.S. for decades. I'm sure Google won't have trouble finding it for you 🤩
Philly and Keely you are crushing it ! Remember Philly is an engineer at design and Keely your the visionary but alas when we went to clean our cabinets where the heck did these antique foods and spices come from lol from New Jersey carry on 😘🍀🍀☕️☕️☕️☕️
Cleaned out my parent’s kitchen and found spices from 1971, a package of mixed nuts from 1989 and a lot of home canned jams, salsas and veggies from 2002. Honestly, the canned stuff was the worst, most of the jams and salsas were black and hard. I could go on, but I’ll spare you the rest, let’s just say that there were 8 garbage bags of nasty stuff and a full compost bin. In the bathroom closet, we found a box of bandages and ointments from when my grandfather was a 1st aid attendant in the 1940’s. I also convinced my mom that she probably didn’t need the 7 bottles of cough syrup, we kept 2 bottles. One for each bathroom, and I tossed the ones from the 80’s
In 2004 my husband and I renovated our kitchen. The house had originally been a government rental home and they had renovated about 5 years before. After their renovation we were given the opportunity to buy the place, which we accepted. We had actually moved into the house in 1991. The reason for tell you this is because in 2004 I found a tin of baby beets that were out of date in 1988. I had brought it from my old home and it was on its second renovation when I finally checked the date. So my oldest, out of date item, was 16 years.
I’m hoping you plan on putting in mostly drawers because as an old person with back problems I can tell you that it’s far easier to access things in drawers than in cupboards. I have had both knees replaced so I can’t kneeling down and low cupboards just don’t work for me at all. I barely cook these days because I can’t reach into the lower cupboards. It’s really frustrating.
This is actually one of the main reasons we are putting in a new kitchen is to add all drawers on the low cupboards as they already struggle to use the back of them, so hoping with lots of pull outs it's going to be much more functional for them ❤️❤️ the whole kitchen has been planned for their needs as they grow older 🥰🥰💪💪
I have no doubt you’ll succeed and it will look AWESOME and your Mum will love it but I must admit watching makes me slightly anxious at all the hard work yet to do so I can’t wait until it’s finished and I can relax! 😂 Looking forward to next week’s vlog already ❤
Ahhh I knew you two had it in you great job.!!!! Great positivity with every hole found. Just think your making the house better than you found it. Woot Woot onwards. Putting on cheerleader outfit. You got this , you got this, you got this. Lol your mum is going to love it.
Lol, it doesn't take long. I cleaned out the bottom of my bathroom cabinet, and I had things when I first got married, 42 years ago! Old lotions and stuff. 😅
When taking out my mother in laws kitchen we found 50 year old soup....we didn't try tasting it! Hope the kitchen project goes well, if your van conversions are anything to go by, you'll be great!
DIY to me is Destroy It Yourself, so I think you're both very brave for tacking the renovations. I would suggest at least getting help from an electrician and plumber to do the more difficult parts of the job. You don't want to potentially electrocute yourselves or flood the house.
Hey guys. I have El Paso Enchilada seasoning mix with a date of September 2002. I also have an unopened Bisto cheese sauce mix with a date of November 2005. Can’t wait to find some more lip-smacking delights! 🙏👍😜
Your Mum and Dad will love it, whatever you do, but they will ask what happened to some of the things that you throw out! When I moved my Mother she didn't have much but she knew exactly that a set of sheets were missing that I had given to her friend . I had to ask for them back and then buy a new set to give to her friend!! I'm now84 myself and trying to get rid of things that I want to keep but know nobody else wants! Good luck with it all. I enjoy watching you guys. You are crazy, but what a good match you are! Nice intelligent couple that have fun, no matter what!
Thanks so much Norma, my mum knows everything too! She notices things missing too she knows where everything is haha, it's organised chaos. I have to keep my promise not to throw everything out cuz she would kill me haha.
🏴❤️🏴 whenever you’re renovating, you have to destroy first then rebuild, your mum’s cupboards are stocked just like mine, and some of my sauces/spices are just as old (or were until my DIL visited and cleared out my pantry and fridge 😂😂😂 🏴❤️🏴
You two are …..The best daughter and son in law ever 🌈✝️🕊️😇😇😘🥰😍 x x x ❤….that makes it sound like I’m your Mum 🤣😂🥲😂🤣 so I edited it to add this bit on 🤣😂🤣 I’m a viewer who think you two are the best daughter to your Mum and son in law to your mother in law 🤣😂🤣😂🤣 …I spend my life explaining things away like this 🤪
The majority interior cupboards had started to break down the chipboard, so weren't reusable, but the solid wood doors are good so we took them off and put them up on Facebook marketplace for someone to come get for free. Alot of the cupboards had deteriorated, but any that were still structurally sound shave been kept for my dad's garage. 💪💪
🤣🤣🤣🤣 luckily she knows all the other DiY stuff we have done over the years and even though sometimes we might not seem capable on camera 🤣🤣 we always get the job done well in the end haha 💪💪
Well, the oldest stuff was at the front, so the stock rotation system works...😂 The oldest thing from a cupboard that I can currently lay my hands on is a jar of Uncle Ben's Gratins Dauphinoise sauce, but it's not from my cupboard. Instead, it was donated in at the place I work, and is currently sat on the desk next to mine in the warehouse office. When it was donated, in January this year {2024), it was just under 26 years past its Best Before date. It's now nearly 27yrs past, but hey, BBE dates are just quality indicators, so it should be good, right...?! The volunteer who found it was 20 years old. The jar came from a different century to him. We did get the story syndicated, and it went as far as Fox News in the US. Mars Foods now own the brand, but renamed it "Ben's Original", so anything "Uncle Ben's" is out of date for sure. They used it for a bit of publicity, and gave us half a full pallet of sauces (in date) as a donation, which was nice. I'll put the link to one of the stories in a comment below, but YT has a nasty habit of nixxing anything with a link. If it doesn't work, just Google "County Durham Foodbank Uncle Ben" and loads will show up....

Keely, I fear the nicely painted wall may get knocked about and need repainting before you're finished. Good for you guys for trying something new 👏 You didn't say where you're Mum & Dad had gone to? Looking forward to the next chapter 😊
Yeah the paint is definitely gonna need another coat already haha. My parents have went to Spain for 5 weeks 🥰
Brilliant idea I’m sure your parents will love watching 👀 what you are doing for them . I’m 75 so maybe I should look in my cupboards 😂😂 . Love you both you brighten my day 🥰
Well that's the easy bit done 🤣🤣
Well want a wonderful present and a wonderful surprise for your parents you got this ❤
Well done guys on your first day.. looking forward to you progress ☘️👍💪💪😁
You two are so incredible. How kind and loving of you for doing this for your parents. 😊❤😊❤
These 2 make me laugh so hard, I can’t!!! Also big kudos for tackling on this big project for the parents - that’s so nice!! ❤
Thankyou ❤️❤️
Organised chaos! I have every faith you'll do great, the under the stairs already looks so much brighter 😊
Looking forward to the next chapter...😉
Guys, you are amazing. What a wonderful thing to do. Quite a challenge you've taken on, I admire you both.
Good luck guys 👍🐸
Once again just super impressed with your go getting positivity. Totally get the overwhelmed feeling but taking things one step at a time is the right thing to do. Well done you two. ♥️
What an awesome thing to do for your family! So proud of you. (And tell your Mum not to worry when we cleaned out my Mums unit she had tins of fruit that were 30+ years old!) Can’t wait for next week. PS be safe when your working.
Woah 30 year old is impressive!
Brilliant Guys!! I'm excited!!!😊😂❤👍👍🥳
Eye protection gear and work gloves ♥️ cannot wait to see how it turns out but even more to watch you two tackle this 😂
Guys that is one huge job, I wish you both all the luck in the world, what your doing for your parents is amazing 👏 ❤
Ok you guys are certifiably nuts. Looking forward to seeing how it turns out.
Keely what the heck 😳 I never laughed so much at you two what a comedy duo 🤣, but seriously what a challenge but I know you will both do a great job 👏 although I’m glad I’m not your mother watching that back 😳
Hahaha yeah I had to reassure mum things were going better now so she wouldn't freak out. Gets much worse hahaha
O Keely you’re kidding me!! I can’t wait 😳🤣
Guys unreal ,what a fabulous thing to do for Wilson n Kate ,im sure it'll be class when finished. Ps dare you to taste that salsa
❤ Lauren❤
I've never heard of this show, but sounds like us haha, I'm gonna have to look it up now 🤣🥰
@phillyandkeely lol...that makes sense! It was a sitcom from the 1960's. Lucille Ball was a great and beloved comedian in the U.S. for decades. I'm sure Google won't have trouble finding it for you 🤩
Big job, cant wait to see the end results♦
Philly and Keely you are crushing it ! Remember Philly is an engineer at design and Keely your the visionary but alas when we went to clean our cabinets where the heck did these antique foods and spices come from lol from New Jersey carry on 😘🍀🍀☕️☕️☕️☕️
Oh... bless you guys for doing this 🙏... You are absolute stars 🌟. Best of luck with everything 🍀🥰💖😘
Thanks Sally ❤️❤️
After you done that one you can come to mine we have a nice big drive to park in!
That's impressive that it made it through two renovations 💪💪 thanks for sharing this little glimpse into your life 🥰🥰
Id have driven over from Tandragee and taken a few of them cupboards for my garage
Great video folks
Dad has already claimed them for his garage haha 😂 thanks Rich.
@@phillyandkeely you are wonderful to do this for your parents. They will really appreciate it and benefit from it. Great job.
You make a terrible job look like fun . well done guys
I confess, I think I may have a Narnia cupboard as well. 😅
🤣 we all do 😜
Hi guys, I know you can do it, no I am sure, really you can, you definitely can, best of luck you two🤗.
DIY to me is Destroy It Yourself, so I think you're both very brave for tacking the renovations. I would suggest at least getting help from an electrician and plumber to do the more difficult parts of the job. You don't want to potentially electrocute yourselves or flood the house.
No don’t do ! Tooo late 😂
Many many cans of worms but you can do it 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞❤️❤️
That was a good kitchen could've been painted cream.
Hey guys. I have El Paso Enchilada seasoning mix with a date of September 2002. I also have an unopened Bisto cheese sauce mix with a date of November 2005. Can’t wait to find some more lip-smacking delights! 🙏👍😜
🤣🤣🤣 that's impressive Mark, you have beaten my parents record 💪💪
I cleaned my parents home ( family house of 50 years) There was food items with no expiry dates lol
🤣🤣🤣 wow that's impressive, they must have been ancient!!
No chance of finding anything older in the cupboards. only been in the house 9 years. Unless of course I crawl in there
🏴❤️🏴 whenever you’re renovating, you have to destroy first then rebuild, your mum’s cupboards are stocked just like mine, and some of my sauces/spices are just as old (or were until my DIL visited and cleared out my pantry and fridge 😂😂😂 🏴❤️🏴
The only reason I don’t have something that old.. we moved here 5 years ago. Do we have food 5 years old? 😁🤭 Maybe 😂
Love that 😂
...seems that living at Bunnings was easy, NOW!
Sweet good luck
You two are …..The best daughter and son in law ever 🌈✝️🕊️😇😇😘🥰😍 x x x ❤….that makes it sound like I’m your Mum 🤣😂🥲😂🤣 so I edited it to add this bit on 🤣😂🤣 I’m a viewer who think you two are the best daughter to your Mum and son in law to your mother in law 🤣😂🤣😂🤣 …I spend my life explaining things away like this 🤪
Keep cupboards someone else may recycle ♻️
You should have disassembled the kitchen so then sell the cupboards second hand. Someone might have brought it.
@phillyandkeely good stuff. 👌
Build mum a pantry so she can organise stuff
The back utility room is going to have big pantry cupboard and storage for all her baking stuff 🥰
Before you remove the floor tiles, make sure they don’t contain asbestos☹️
The floor is weird type of poured concrete inset so will be flooring over the top, so no asbestos risk 🤞🤞
Great video! I can’t wait to see the final results. BTW Philly - is your gold sweatshirt a Vegas Golden Knights hockey sweatshirt??
Pretty sure it's a Volcom skateboarders sweatshirt. My son's been wearing that brand for 25 years.
@heartshapedisle yesss it's volcom ❤️❤️ got it from a thrift store in Canada
Thankyou ❤️ it's volcom 💪
@@phillyandkeely great brand
My Advice is to drop everything, get in your van, drive to Portugal and never contact Keelys mum again.
Was your mam drunk when she agreed to this 😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣 luckily she knows all the other DiY stuff we have done over the years and even though sometimes we might not seem capable on camera 🤣🤣 we always get the job done well in the end haha 💪💪
Well, the oldest stuff was at the front, so the stock rotation system works...😂
The oldest thing from a cupboard that I can currently lay my hands on is a jar of Uncle Ben's Gratins Dauphinoise sauce, but it's not from my cupboard.
Throw away the 14 year old jam!
From experience I can say.. those worms are a real pain and every project has a few cans 😏
So many cans hahaha
👍👍🔨🔨💪💪🎉🤗💕🇿🇦
❤❤❤❤❤
