Oh Man, that first Captain Atom cover you showed is beautiful!!! Love the colors in it. Same goes for that Space Adventures! The condition on those books looks fabulous. Was shocked when you showed the TOS #39! Steve, you are so modest about your collection.

Thank you for the kind words. The comic collection I feel very fortunate to have what I have. Like most of us, I dont take it for granted. Although, there is hard work and dedication, there are things that are more important. Its a fun hobby and I enjoy sharing it like most of us on RUclips. Thank you for coming by and commenting. Your support is greatly appreciated. Take care and stay well. Best\Steve

Hello, Charlton 66. Great, unique comics! I get great joy from watching your videos, and listening to you talk about the things that you love. In many cases, you will talk about something in a video, something that I either never heard of, or something I knew about but never cared much about until I saw how much passion for it that you had. Until I found your channel, I had never read a pulp magazine, but a couple of your videos made me really care about them so a while ago I bought an Adventure House reprint and I absolutely loved it. Another example is Thunder Agents. I've never read a Thunder Agents comic book before, but your passion for the characters got me excited about them too, so earlier today I ordered an old Thunder Agents comic, and I look forward to reading it when it arrives. Thank you very much for your wonderful videos. By watching your videos, I have been introduced to some great comics which I may not have ever read otherwise.

Yeah, agree. My appreciation for Charlton comics has increased a hundred-fold since seeing Steve's videos. Wish I paid more attention to them 40 years ago when I could have picked them up for next to nothing. But, of course, I was focused on Spider-man, Hulk and other Marvels at the time.

Thank you so much for the kind words. Your comment is very humbling. I am glad that I was able to broaden your comic and pulp horizons so to speak. I too, learn something everyday from the wonderful comic book community. And thank you for taking the time to watch me ramble on about funny books and other things. I am glad that you enjoyed the Adventure House book. What was the reprint of? Did you enjoy the T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents comic book. I hope so. Thank you again for stopping by and leaving you great motivating comment. Take care and stay well. Best\Steve

@@charlton6674 The Adventure House book was a reprint of the October 1938 issue of Phantom Detective. The Thunder Agents comic book was issue 6, and I enjoyed it very much.

A fine selection of Top 10 first appearances! I'd never heard of Mercury Man before. Judging by the Still 10 Cents blurb on the cover that issue of Space Adventures was from 1962 As always, I enjoyed your video. Even though I've been reading and collecting comic books I'm still learning new items of interest. . Thanks for introducing Mercury Man to me.

Nice books mate, Charlton just never were seen in the UK in any of the shops that I went into. I have the 1st Blue Beetle with Question & the Captain Atom with 1st appearance of Ted Kord too. Maybe I'll get that 1st Nightshade sometime too, she's pretty cool.

Thank you so much. Not surprised about Charltons not being in your neck of the woods. They hard a difficult time with their distribution here in the states, let alone across the pond. Try to get those Charltons when you can. They will have their day some time. Thank you again so much for coming by and commenting. Take care and stay well, my friend. Best\Steve

😎👍 " Collecting what you like not what others tell you to like " is a truism that seems hard to grasp for some people Steve. Sure there will be similar likes maybe for the same reasons or not. Obscure , off beat , personally appealing characters are why we love comics! Highlighting Charlton first appearances defines personally appealing and makes for a greater appreciation of the wealth of choices one has to enjoy the culture. 🤓 A couple of first appearances I have are in the off beat and obscure category : ACGs Forbidden Worlds # 73 featuring Herbie Popnecker's FA and Gold Keys Man From U.N.C.L.E. #7 featuring the FA of Jet Dream ; the all female adventure team that later got a one shot issue. 🤔 I look at it like this : there's no rule saying that first appearances have to be committee approved ; there's an issue of Adventures of The Fly in my collection that features the first appearance of The Fly's enemies joining forces and becoming a team , so as far as I'm concerned that counts. 🤓 I watch Joe's channel too and simply identify him as Hawaii Joe . Back in the 70s a majority of my magazine buying was focused on comic strip features or /and old time radio ; I later bought some issues of Comic Reader because they included comic strips in their publication. As I mentioned to Joe I'm rather surprised that the "key" "experts" have oddly overlooked one of the more important Silver Age appearances of a Golden Age character ; I refer to Prince Namor The Sub-Mariner # 8 an issue that is , and rightfully so , appreciated for the great John Buscema cover showing Namor and The Thing battle ready. What surprises me is that Betty Dean's revealed presence in the story is not even a passing thought! "Experts" who are so excited about GA reappearances in the SA fail on this one! Betty Dean , Namor's equivalent to Lois Lane who was with him from the beginning of the GA and throughout the Atlas period certainly qualifies as a major character! If the Namor tv series planned in the 1950s had happened Betty Dean would have certainly been included in the cast.

What an amazing and thought provoking comment. I really enjoyed reading this, Anthony. I think the speculation fuels what a first appearance is and which one is important. Who you mentioned in your comments are outstanding first appearances, historically significant and important. Most current collectors dont make mention because there is no money in it or they dont know/care, I believe. Thank you once again, Anthony for the great comment and enlightening us with your thoughts and knowledge. I know I better for it. Take care and stay well my friend. Best\Steve
