    Foreign correspondent...LOL! Great books Steve. Love that Flash Gordon! It also blows my mind how new comics can go for so much more than older, rarer comics.

      Hello my friend. Thank you for the kind words. Yes, I do not understand it either. I just don't get it. Years from know who cares. But something like, lets say, Space Adventures #12 will always be a book that collectors care after all these years. These flash in the pan comics of today, not so much. New comics are like modern pop music. Its cotton candy. There is nothing there. As always thank you for stopping by and commenting. You support is greatly appreciated. Take care and stay well. I love seeing that "still 10 cents" flag/logo on those Charlton books- especially on Gorgo and Strange Suspense Stories covers. Space Adventures always remains my favorite. And the cool signature of 'Nicholas Alascia' artfully appearing on Charlton books. I just picked up Charlton Bullseye #4 introducing the Vanguards. Great show of artwork! That Joe Palooka cover was smashing too! Thank you for showing!

      Me too. I also like seeing that very small 10 cents on those wonderful old Charltons. I love Space Adventures so much as well. My earliest issue in #2 in and 8.0. Nice beautiful black cover too. Charlton Bullseye is an usual title. It was made to show off new talent for the company but at this point, Charlton was seeing is close unfortunate demise. I am glad that you enjoy Charlton too. Fun books to read and collect. Thank you for the kind words. As always thank you for stopping by and commenting. You support is greatly appreciated. So much to comment on!... I will try to keep it brief. Smiling Jack is a great character that some know but most don't. In the vein of Wash Tubbs, Captain Easy etc. Joe Saloons was a comic strip character up until the 70's I think but forgotten today. I want a copy of that Dell Nevada book! Adding it to my list. ME Western are the best! Nuff said. I agree about Charlton artists. Lots of really good stuff out there if you look. Charlton is one of the best secrets out there that are in plain sight. Great comics. Thanks for showing.

Now if everyone thought like us, the comic industry would be much better off 😉. Wash Tubbs and Captain Easy are wonderful and delightful strips. Joe Palooka is a blast too. When I was a kid, the only Charlton Comics I saw on the newsstand were their licensed books. When I look though GCD or Mike's Amazing World, I see all these Charlton covers that I would have caught my eye and I would have bought if had the money.
    It's sad that Wayne Howard is largely forgotten. It's too bad that there has never been soe form of Midnight Tales collection.

    • @charlton6674
      @charlton6674  2 года назад +1

      That's too bad. And this in part was a problem Charlton had was very spotty distribution of their comic books. It was unfortunate. I think they would have lasted long if the distribution was on par with, lets say Marvel or DC. Even like Gold Key.
      It is sad about the late great Wayne Howard. What a talent. His Charlton out put was just amazing. The covers on Midnight Tales are to die for. I know he had done work for Marvel but, I forget what it was. Do you recall? Anything for DC, I wonder? I am hoping Yoe Books will do something of a Midnight Tales collection

    Lots of good stuff Steve! Thanks for sharing! I have always shed books that I’m not actively collecting in order to get the books I want. Nothing wrong with that. I find myself preying on those who speculate on the newest marvel movie or TV show. You may be surprised to see some of those lousy dollar bin books going for a nice piece of change.

      I have come to the realization as I have said, and I want my collection to have books that I am fascinated with 100 percent. Why wait till I have saved the money. I never use credit, when I can sell some BA keys and get so several PCH Charltons for the price of a single BA "KEY." Its liberating. I want my collection to be a living thing so to speak. Always morphing into something better to me. I fell like I am babbling here. I hope I made sense.

    I go back and forth on whether there are still great artists in comics. It's definitely more work to find them and there's a much wider variety of aesthetic tastes pulling at all the different artists of this time.

    • @charlton6674
      @charlton6674  2 года назад

      SO true. Look who we had writing and drawing comics growing up. Pure talent, period. Today, not so much. Everything is a cover buy for the lemmings. The cover "artist" that are popular, I do not believe can draw an engaging sequential story. There are a few, Stephen Mooney and Andrea Sarantonio. I know you have a vast knowledge. Who do you like currently at can tell a good story? As always thank you for stopping by and commenting. You support is greatly appreciated. Take care and stay well. Best/Steve
