I picked up the Dick Tracy and Terry and the Pirates popped wheat give always at Heroescon. Love to get the Smiling Jack. Enjoyed seeing what you picked up.
Great stuff Steve, particularly those Cheyenne Kid books. Very sharp and I’ll have to add those to my want list. I really need to start getting the Bronze Gazette. I think I read about 90% of the Doc Savage paperbacks back in the 80’s and I burnt myself out on the character. About time I revisit. Great video as usual my friend!
Nice Western comics. Have you ever tried Desperado's?... it's a little known weird western series, that has been put out by a few different publishers. If you like that sort of thing, it's a good read.
That shirt is cool. You know,i run into the Charlton Hot Rod comics quite bit while hunting in the wild. The comics i never run into and are what i am always looking for is one of the DC Hotwheels comic books.
😎Ahhh Steve .. if only Gold Key did publish a Kolchak series! As a Smilin' Jack fan you gotta read the spot on parody that the Mad comic book did that was later reprinted in paperback , I have my copy somewhere , its either the Inside Mad or Mad Strikes Back paperback. Cheyenne Kid always a spinner rack read for me. I have two Gold Key cardboard covers - Huckleberry Hound and Hanna-Barbera Band Wagon. The Hot Rod you're thinking of might be a Hillman publication and don't forget DC had Hot Wheels by Alex Toth. I read the original run of New Gods and got a comic book reading classmate interested in them and we went to buy our copies of the recent issue that just happened to be the last issue in the series. I always wondered if he was disappointed about it. Namor is my #2 favorite Marvel SH , after Hulk , so it was a treat seeing him guest starring in ROM. Now that he's in the MCU I'm hoping a Tales To Astonish Special Presentation might happen , teaming him up with Hulk! I know , I know , what much of fandom is saying 😱! I could give my reasons for enjoying "This" Namor if I was seeking community approval but as a looong standing comic book fan I'm just going to say it's my choice to like what I like.
Wonderful video as always, Charlton 66! Awesome T-Shirt! 0:49 I’ve never been fond of the term “filler books” either. I’ve always felt that it makes certain comics sound less important than others. The only New Gods comics I’ve read are the Walter Simonson ones from 20 or so years ago. I have no idea what DC is doing with the characters now. Of what I’ve read of ROM, it was a great series. I absolutely love the artwork that Steve Ditko did for it.
If memory serves , The Gold Key Cardboard Covers were the first issues after they acquired them from Dell . I have a few of those myself and I believe I showed them on the Fossils .Cool Books as always but NONE as Cool as your Shirt . I have a Kolchak shirt , and if I ever drop 80 pounds or so , I'll wear it again 😁
Great video, Steve. I was never interested in the Hot Rod genre of comics back when they were popular. However, in recent years my interest has increased, although I have a tough time finding any of them. At least in what I consider decent condition. Great tee shirt! Did you get that at the Frederick Con?
These Charltons are cool. Charlton a smaller publisher you'd think they'd have one or maybe two two Cat titles button they put out multiple series about hit rodding 😆 🤣
Great show… sorry for seeing it so late.. just love seeing these classic books Charlton and otherwise.
Love the Kolchak t-shirt! 👍🏻

That Cheyenne cover is super nice Charlton 66! And the New Gods make for some fun reads!

Some nice Charltons! We have a few Jack Keller hot rod ones. I’ve always liked how he drew biker gang characters.
Jack Keller is my favorite Kid Colt Outlaw artist, thank you for informing me that he also did art for some of the hot rod comics at Charlton

Great Hot rod covers. Not always the easiest to find those in nice shape.
