In defense of the Vespa, it's an urban vehicle. It's not made for suburban commutes. It's meant for you going through the city, getting to work, parking wherever you can fit, and when you go home, pick up some groceries on the way back. If that's not what you need, you'll not be super happy.
Bladed sir, please continue the motorcycle videos, here in India bikes don't have the fun toy status as in the US of A, here they are for many the primary source of transportation, also people will laugh at you or think you are useless if you don't know how to ride even a scooter That said people here have a lot of passion for bikes as you get to see superbikes much *much* often then supercars, also owning a car in India is still a luxury for many and the thought of getting another car just for fun is unheard of for the masses, so bikes provide a great alternative to that. That said please continue making motorcycle videos it feels good to watch content that is atleast somewhat relatable
I genuinely started commuting on the Enfield. It's comfortable, efficient, not noisy, but also not boring. For how cheap it was, I adore it, no complaints. Most Americans see motorcycles as a gimmick in US so they don't realize they can be comfortable reliable commuters, they just want go fast eat ass machines that chew tires every 3000 miles. Not everyone got the time or money for that!
@@BladedAngel I started on an '09 Yamaha V-Star 250. Average of 80 mpg, current value if you find one is about 1700 dollars average as of now. Currently, my commuter is a 1981 Suzuki Gs-650L, the L model being tuned more for distance riding. Need to tune up the carbs on it, one cylinder is taking extra fuel and tanking my gas economy, they can normally make 60+ mpg but mine is around 40-45 at the moment. And yes, I take it real easy when riding for distance, average 55-60 mph on the highway for my 70 mile daily commute. But she can be a real beast if you let her loose. She will break loose without popping the clutch on pavement while moving in 1'st gear. Found that out by accident on a test run after getting her woke up, almost needed a new pair of pants. Bought for 1000 dollars, runs real smooth, fires right up almost instantly when you press the starter button. Love her to death, not the loudest or prettiest of bikes, but I love her for what she is. However I almost instead bought me a '96 Yamaha Virago 750, it was a damn comfortable bike, like holy carp that seat those Viragos have is godly comfort level. But the Gs-650 I found not only was more powerful, but also more fuel efficient, and I just couldn't pass it up. And since I've added a windscreen to my 650, as well as a crash bar with foot pegs for my legs. It's a fairly comfy bike too (probably just because I'm a shorter fellow,) just not quite Virago level.
It’s been 2 years owning the KPR, clocked 13000kms, it’s been very reliable. Just the regular oil change and that’s it. Never broke down and never faced issues with the KPR. Try getting the NBF2 engine as that’s the KPR with all the issues fixed. The engines been updated and all the minor issues with the old models been fixed with the 2020 models and above. A great motorcycle for its price.
I appreciate your input on the bike. While I wouldn't say 2 years is anything impressive, for how cheap it is, that's more than most will ask for out of it! If you keep riding it, I'm now genuinely curious where it's life caps out at. Highest mileage one I've seen in US is only 30K Miles (48K Kilometers) and he's still running fine. These are too new to get tons of mileage, but let's see how the test of time wears on them.
@@BladedAngel Here in Bangladesh Lifan KPR 165 is very popular. These bikes are running fine for well above 50k kms. Motorcycles above 165cc are banned in Bangladesh.
Honda splendour: finally, a worthy rival. Our rivalry is going to be legendary So in case if you all Americans didn’t get it, a motorcycle named ‘Honda splendour’ was sold in India, it had a 100cc engine and had the same 72kmpl or 168 mpg despite being a petrol.

Really wanna import the Bullet from my home in India but I'm gonna wait for my cousin to come here so maybe he can bring it along.

My brother owns an interceptor 650 from Royal enfield. Sadly he’s moved countries and I can’t legally ride yet. The Meteor only reminded me of it and how it just stays in the shed. It’s definitely a nice bike and has a really nice pull with good mileage.
Another honorable mention as an alternative to royal enfield that is accessible in US is Suzuki tu 250x. I own one, and it’s awesome middle sized motorcycle that actually fun and safe to ride and quite easy to maintain.
The Honda CB350 looked like the best motorcyle. The Honda SuperCub looked like the best alternative for commuting and short trips. But, Royal Enfield is introducing the Meteor 650. Which will address the lack of power that the Meteor 350 is struggling with.
Interesting you should mention the Honda 350. My first MC was a CL350 Scrambler. It was a twin that, as best I recall, weighed about 350 lbs, maxed at around 100 mph, had about 33hp at 10,500 rpm, and I distinctly remember getting close to 100 mpg at times. It also had much safer 18/19 inch wheels so potholes and dirt roads were not an issue. Seems like Honda nailed it way back in the 1970s.
I get around 80mpg with my CBR250. Commuted for the past two weeks without taking my car once, and it costed me a whopping $18. Compared to before I got the bike I was spending around $80 for the same mileage. Small motorcycles are awesome for ripping around the city.
Please make a video on Personal Protective Equipment and motorcycle awareness and safety, I really wish I had learned the important things when I started riding instead of worrying about looking cool and driving recklessly!
I love motorcycle content soo much and i love that all the bikes look cool, efficient and cheap to maintain at the same time, but unfortunately i will never get one bcs of safety issues. Even if u are an exceptional rider u still have a high heavy trauma or fatality chance bcs u are surrounded by giant two ton pieces of steel which are controlled by not so smart individuals so even if u didnt break any laws and drive safe u are still in danger..
It's suprising how little the cub has changed. I own a 1975 Trail 90, essentially a cub with off-road tires, and that has a 4-speed semi-auto, similar top speed, just a smaller engine. Also, really cool seeing motorcycles on this channel.
I had a Honda Ruckus when I lived in Maryland. In the suburbs it was glorious, drag my 230 lbs all over (no highway of course) with plenty of go. No license of any sort was required and insurance was under $100 a year. I added a 4' whip flag to increase visibility and the only problem I ever experienced was the battery cracking during one of the infrequent cold snaps. Then I moved to PA and damn this place loves sticking their noses into everything.
7:46 the kpr 200 is such a fun and underrated bike for daily commuting, bought it as my first bike and still have it even tho i barely ride it on the weekends only
Haven't owned a cycle before but after seeing this vid, I kinda feel interested in one, mostly the royal enfeild for a starter. Gas prices where I am from is $13.66/gallon, and I spend $90 - $110 for 2 weeks worth of fuel. So i really appreciate this vid, it gives us some good info about decent cycle to buy
It's a very fun to ride and forgiving motorcycle! Very comfy too! I use it for Cities, Suburbs and short exit to exit highway rides. I wouldn't road trip it or go on long highway commutes with it, but it's definitely worth every penny as a "Cheap Mile Muncher". It's saved a lot of wear and tear miles on my Z06...I honestly got sick of driving a 756WHP car around during these times, also traffic, also wannabe racers, etc.. The Enfield is just a more peaceful ride. Worth every penny!
@@BladedAngel roads in my country aren't all that long to say, its more curves than long straight roads, so driving something slow here is more fun than driving something with more speed. Sure you can have fun with a more powerful vehicle, but the curves here have claimed sufficient lifes because of that, so even if the Enfeild is underpowered, still will be decent enough for the roads here.
My (now late) distant uncle had a C90 Super Cub mentioned in the video back in the 90s. Was able to go to a town about 150km away and get back home on a single full 4l tank of gas but still have some leftover too. I learnt to ride motorcycles from that thing too. Plucky little bastard, that Super Cub.
Best way to reduce gas prices is every one get a cheap bike that gets 60-100mpg. Demand on gas goes down, so supply goes up, so prices should come down. Love the bike content, as a person who loves cars but really loves bikes more this is great. Owning a z125 and a fj09, you get the same enjoyment out of both just a different type. The Enfield is sweet, id like to get a scrambler style bike eventually, or even build one. Keep up the good work.
RE will release a Scrambler 411 pretty soon in 2023, I might trade in my 350 for it next year. I want something with just a little bit more punch on the Freeway and a bit more lean angle!
Jesse I support your sentiments on saving fuel, but government meddling will probably keep fuel prices high. Wouldn't it be nice if the laws of supply and demand were allowed to function as they should.
I got a 10 year old cb125 in 1995. I rode that bike for 19 years and it never failed me. But it got a MINIMUM of 100 mpg.. and often over 120mpg.. super reliable. Fun too!
The yamaha mt15 is also very good. It gets like 55 kmpl (129 mpg) if you dont let the vva kick in (yamaha's vtec). Once the vva kicks in it gets like around 45kmpl (105 mpg). Its super light weight and the way everything is set with the handlebars and seating position, it makes you feel like youre riding a bicycle, you can just weave through the traffic. Looks pretty decent as well. I think it's the best 155cc engine. Super sporty but very fuel efficient.
Its so nice to see these small bikes gaining popularity in America again. For awhile there, prices and displacement were only going higher and bigger and there was nothing for the beginner! Nothing if you just wanted cheap reliable transportation.
Im completely in love with the looks of the meteor 350, but my commute to work is 90% interstate where everyone goes 75-80mph. Wish they made one with just a bit more power.
You should check out Royal Enfield's revival story by Siddartha Lal if u have not heard about it. He became a member of the biking community and saved the company

I love scooters And in where I'm from it's pretty much a go to vehicle other than a underbone. And you can get motorcycles here around under 1k lol. I'm an Aussie retired in the Philippines. Here some of the most popular bikes are the Honda XRM 125 and you will get 50to60 KPL. A FULL size with 19" wheels . The BAJA 100cc will do 80 KPH and 60 to 70 KPL and in the provinces you will see them with a top down (an open boxy sidecar) with 8+ adults in it or fully loaded with hollow blocks.
I have a Lifan KPM200, the cafe racer version of the KPR. Paid $2600 new for it from an actual Lifan dealer. There are a few Lifan dealers up here in the upper midwest.
A car I want to bring up is the first gen honda insight, it can't get over 100mpg but a still respectable 60-70mpg, gears and gasoline (kinda) managed to get to NYC and back to Virginia with one tank (and a reserve jerry can).
I have a lifan xpect 200, used it to learn to ride and still having tons of fun on it, slower than the kpr, but it's a dual sport, gets about 90ish mpg, and yes there definitely are lifan dealers in the US, I got mine from one here in WI
I bought a CB300R and I am getting a real-world MPG of around 65-70 (I think my life-time avg is 68) and I don't exactly take it easy on the thing.. and while it's still not crazy fast (I get left by anything over 180hp) it can comfortably do any road you stick it on, is lighter than hell and will put a smile on your face whenever you hit some twisty bits.
We need to appreciate this guy more...before i gone for vacation and when i can back there was a quality vid waiting for me (even tho I'm 19 hours late)
Speaking about the Super Cub, there's another bike by Honda with the same body type but is the replacement for the Cub and could go below 2000 USD (the 2013 model was 1,070 bucks brand new while the 2022 model is 1,405 bucks). Some might know it as Honda Wave, but in my place it shared a name with a certain Toyota sports car famous in the JDM community.
I own a Lifan KPM200 and I ride it hard. It gets 82MPG going over 60MPH for the majority of my commute. Top speed I have found is around 73mph with my 200lb frame on it in a normal riding position.
I’m a car guy but I’ve been thinking about getting into motorcycles. But i am really nervous about buying a Japanese sport bike because they are very dangerous. I am glad that you made a video on low power motorcycles/scooters just so I don’t need to fear death!

My 1st bike was a CB160 back in the 1970's. The last bike I had was a Kawasaki 700 ltd in the 1990's. Broke my hip when I T-boned a Cadillac on my way to work. I've been looking at the Royal Enfield's as a possible option for getting back into riding again.
In Malaysia Super Cub-type of motorcycles (underbone motorcycles) are EVERYWHERE. People use them as cheap modes of transportation, and many owners, usually young adults and teenagers, modify them for... you know.
To be honest, im from chile, i took my Royal Enfield Meteor from the city, highways, twisty roads and man i can say i love the heck out of that bike, im still taking care of her, and dude, aint even dissapointed from it, i can agree about you say, is not the fast one, is not the loudest, but the charm and the how it looks make it stand out from other bikes, i would buy another Meteor only for make it faster but i love how is stock, and its hard to say even you already tested some beasts arround, but its the most eficient 350 engine that i like about everthing
Well I got a Vespa SXL 150 Racing Sixties, which is similar to the Sprint 150 Racing Sixties special edition you get in the USA. This is my first vehicle and I love cruising through the streets and freeways in it, such a beauty!!
Nice video. Some feedback about Lifan. They do have brick-and-mortar dealers in the USA, about 150 IIRC. I have bought two of them from a local dealership. They are a very high-quality Chinese brand, I'd say almost as good as Honda. My dealer sometimes undercuts even the online sellers on some models.
On the original interceptor 1968-70 736 cc both pistons rotation was in the same position in stroke . Had one took the jugs off on warm up it would dance across the ground but riding you didn't even feel the vibration really nice bike with a extra neutral select peddle on the transmission to find neutral faster.
It's definitely more expensive, but there is also the nc700/750 bike, it gets great gas mileage, at 60 mpg on average, can easily get to 70, and yet it's pretty fast with 47hp and a 5 second 0-60, it even has a compartiment in the gas tank where you can put an helmet, honestly it's a great bike.
If u r someone who likes to ride a lot and are comfortable RE is the best value proposition in this list.... i've owned a Honda CBF125 for 2 years now, top speed is 134 km/h (on a good day, that is), and it gets 2,3l/100km. I paid 1000€ for mine (used) and it served me well, i can only recommend
I'll put my vote in for the Kawasaki X-300. Basically the engine / transmission of the Ninja 300 (6-spd), but in a dual-sport platform that has upright seating and space for a trunk or panniers. Commuting in Texas = 75mpg, and it revs to 11000 rpm (like all day), and has no problem holding the interstate at 80mph. Most of my commute is 40-45mph, some school zones. It is fuel-injected, incredibly reliable and fun to run through the gears without finding yourself going 140mph. Maybe not quite 100mpg, but damned close and insurance is only $6 per month.
As a way out in left field alternative, I commute on electric unicycles or my DIY E-bike. If you are dealing with 30mph roads, they both easily keep up with cars, and even gap the average NPC driver from a stop. The e-bike battery costs less than 20 cents to charge, and I can get 30-40 miles out of it, depending on how hard I send it. 30 miles if I ride it like a motorcycle and don't pedal at all.
I like the looks of the RE 350 both the classic and Meteor, but I think you might want to watch the real world reviews and videos of the top speed people were actually able to achieve with them. More like just a tad over 70 mph and that is full throttle which is impractical to maintain any distance at all. Also at full throttle the mileage is going to drop a lot.
My 88 Suzuki GSX600F got over 100 mpg stock, piped and jetted it still got over 60 mpg and it smoked 1000's. Back in the day when new bikes went faster every year and got better gas mileage, then they said no more of that, now waste as much gas as possible on new (all) vehicles

Their showrooms are not like typical motorcycle showrooms either (I guess only KTM has similar showrooms), they have their own merch, gear, etc. Pretty much like Harley Davidson I think.
In defense of the Vespa, it's an urban vehicle. It's not made for suburban commutes. It's meant for you going through the city, getting to work, parking wherever you can fit, and when you go home, pick up some groceries on the way back. If that's not what you need, you'll not be super happy.
Bladed sir, please continue the motorcycle videos, here in India bikes don't have the fun toy status as in the US of A, here they are for many the primary source of transportation, also people will laugh at you or think you are useless if you don't know how to ride even a scooter
That said people here have a lot of passion for bikes as you get to see superbikes much *much* often then supercars, also owning a car in India is still a luxury for many and the thought of getting another car just for fun is unheard of for the masses, so bikes provide a great alternative to that.
You also see people shitting in the street a whole lot more often over there.

Our rivalry is going to be legendary
So in case if you all Americans didn’t get it, a motorcycle named ‘Honda splendour’ was sold in India, it had a 100cc engine and had the same 72kmpl or 168 mpg despite being a petrol.

But in all honesty I think every Indian has ridden Honda Splendour atleast once in their riding career, it's a bare bones bike but it does what it's advertise, gets 65-70 kmpl and it's super reliable, you can still find these bikes that are 20-25 years old, still running and probably were ridden every single day

That conclusion on the Enfield is really damn true, that's why there's so many in India, doesn't matter if it's nothing "the best" it's definitley gonna make you the most happy. Really wanna import the Bullet from my home in India but I'm gonna wait for my cousin to come here so maybe he can bring it along.
There are some Bullets stateside, but they are the Carbureted versions, I believe in 2023 or 2024, Royal Enfield will finally bring the newest generation Bullet 500 with EFI to America. Britain already has it, so I'm hoping it comes stateside soon!
@@BladedAngel That'd be awesome to see new bullets here, and I'd have a hard time choosing if I want the convenient newer one or the old carbureted British shifter model, since that's the one I drove for the weird shifter.
Royal Enfield man I've driven them they are alot popular here we have a classic 500 and the Honda is also getting popular
as someone who loves cars and bikes, its nice to see a traditionally car youtuber include bikes in a video!
I've got the same bike. If it wasn't for the torture device of a seat, I would probably ride it a lot more.
These are great recommendations for a time where gas is ridiculously priced. Great video!!
Thanks for not blasting us with metal at every opportunity.
That's the exact vespa I delivered pizzas when I first came to America I still have it in pieces somewhere in my garage.
I think I fell in love with the Meteor 350, ngl it looks gorgeous.
I just bought my first bike a 77 Honda CB750. So glad you’re making the videos you like to make!
Royal Enfield seems like must buy, IMO.
I kinda want it now
The army recently moved me to Korea and bikes and scooters are the clear option, this video was very helpful thank you
Best way to reduce gas prices is every one get a cheap bike that gets 60-100mpg.
Stop voting Democrat and gas prices, as well as other prices, will go down. Gas was $1.80 in the free states when Trump was in
Bladed!
The RE doesn't have pushrods anymore, it's got SOHC now with the new J-platform engine series.
Thanks, I'll edit that out real quick.
I got a 10 year old cb125 in 1995. I rode that bike for 19 years and it never failed me. But it got a MINIMUM of 100 mpg.. and often over 120mpg.. super reliable. Fun too!
I just got my motorcycle license this year, I'm so happy you're making motorcycle content now.
This video was awesome! Hope more motorcycle content comes out soon
Interceptor 650, but that only gets like 70MPG, but that'll go 110mph top speed.

The Honda Insight is a genuinely amazing piece of engineering, super underrated. Thanks for mentioning it man
I have a lifan xpect 200, used it to learn to ride and still having tons of fun on it, slower than the kpr, but it's a dual sport, gets about 90ish mpg, and yes there definitely are lifan dealers in the US, I got mine from one here in WI
Solid video! Glad to see a fellow Georgia vlogger. We have a Super Cub in our fleet as well!
Another cub family suggestion would be the CT125[Hunter Cub].

I own a Lifan KPM200 and I ride it hard. It gets 82MPG going over 60MPH for the majority of my commute. Top speed I have found is around 73mph with my 200lb frame on it in a normal riding position.

Full step thru are great too, the Honda Vario 160 is a good example
It's definitely more expensive, but there is also the nc700/750 bike, it gets great gas mileage, at 60 mpg on average, can easily get to 70, and yet it's pretty fast with 47hp and a 5 second 0-60, it even has a compartiment in the gas tank where you can put an helmet, honestly it's a great bike.
I have a NC750X and it is a great bike.

Oh. Motorcycle is good Idea.
Fun fact is Yuki Yomichi also riding a Motorcycle, and also Koguma-chan played by her as well.
