I nabbed a 07 Ninja 650r for only 2k last year. Other than slight cosmetic damage, it ran beautifully. I got unbelievably lucky with that find. The sellers were even great people. They called me two weeks after I bought it to see if I still liked my purchase and offered to buy it back in full if I didn't.

I wanted an R1 when I started, but my budget was like $3000. I ended up with a '92 Ducati Monster. Much lower HP than I wanted, but I found pretty quickly that my opinion of hp did not matter in the slightest. Crashed the duc and got a Yam fz6r after that because it was all I could afford. Kind of hated its style, but I ended up loving the bike overall. Crashed that one too. Finally put one foot into the big league with a 2007 Suzuki gsxr 750, which is wayyyyyy older than I wanted...by like a decade! Guess what....I f***ing love it. If you're buying a bike because you want to look cool, I can't help you...no one can. If you're buying a bike because, like many of us, you have a deep seated and unreasonable need for 2 wheels, pick anything in you're budget. I promise, I'm having just as much fun with 140hp as I was with 70.
This summer I wanted to get back to riding after 20 years. I was able to score a 1996 Sportster 1200 and a Harley Street 500. I traded my 90 Jeep YJ for the Sportster and three Firearms for the Street. God I never knew how much I missed riding.

I like to ride long distance like Coast to Coast but couldn’t afford a 30 or 40 thousand dollars big touring bike so I bought a 2000 Honda Valkyrie interstate for $2000 with 5 thousand miles on it and now has 90,000 miles with no break downs and a lot of great Coast to Coast rides
I had a 2007 SV650, and it's so hard to recommend now that the FZ/MT-07 exists. Both of them need equal amounts of suspension work out of the box before they can shine but at least the Yamaha is lighter and has a more fun engine.
I bought my new bike a month ago, a vstrom dl1000 2006, with 24k miles, for $4,000.00 amazing bike, im loving every part of it!!, fully recommended. Or even de 650.

Here in Belgium harleys are still looked upon as something "special" you won't find anything under 5000€ exept for a tired sportser, i'll stick with my triumph tiger 995 and MZ scorpion to have some fun on two wheels.
I bought my first bike a few months back, a k5 SV650 with the black frame with 9,500 miles on the clock for £1600. A literal couple of small dents around the tank and a new rear shock was needed for a clean MOT but yea. Bargain 😁
I just totaled my er6n dropping it while loading into the back of my truck. 5kish check inbound. This video could not have been better timed. Lord rossi is watching over me.
That klr is awesome, it was my second choice, I drive more pavement so I got the cb500x, but if I had more trail I'd so have gotten the klr, awesome bike!!

Oh, and for reference: I've been riding for over 40 years. I learned when I was 10 on my best friend's 80cc dirt bike (I think it was a Yamaha). My first bike of my own was a KDX 200. I've since owned 250 and 500cc dirt bikes from Kawasaki, KTM, and Husqvarna. In college I rode a 750 Ninja. (The original 750 Ninja. Yeah, I'm an Old Fart™️) So I'm no stranger to motorcycles that have power to spare. And I still steadfastly maintain that my RE Classic 350 is the perfect bike for me right now. Will I ever "upgrade" to a "real" (read "bigger displacement for purposes of penis measuring contests") bike? Maybe. I could see myself on a Z900RS or something similar at some point. But for what I need it for right now (commuting to work and running errands) my Classic 350 is absolutely perfect.
The R6 inflation is real. Mine got stolen this summer, and the insurance payout was more than what I brought the bike for new, in 2020. It was enough for me to buy a used Panigale.
The Big Red Pig is another great bike of you want to go off road. The XR 650L has been around forever, more off road focused than the KLR. Both are reliable old dinosaurs. Great list.
Nobody ever mentions the Suzuki GSR 600. Naked bike with 90hp. Very easy to ride, very comfortable and reliable. The ideal cheap starter bike. Cost me 2000 Euros, about 100 times better than a Royal Enfield Interceptor that costs 3 times the price.
Great job my hillbilly friend. I bought a 2007 Yamaha Vstar with less than 7000 miles on it. I love the bike. The only problem is at over 700 lbs it’s a beast to move for an old man like me. Looking for a lighter bike now. Anyone interested in buying her let me know.
Hope your 2nd hand ducati won't have issues like mine does lmao. Rode the 695 for 3 weeks and somehow the starter stopped working. After a long 2 month wait for the new starter to arrive from italy can pick her up tomorrow. Enjoy your 696!
Geez, nobody ever even mentions BMW's around here. I bought an 08 F800 for $3500 and I love the little sucker. Not blazing fast and the engine sounds a little like a mini diesel, but if you can get beyond that these bikes are relatively modern, reliable, well built, comfortable and fun in the twisties with fabulous brakes. And chances are good that they have been well-maintained by an "adult" past owner or two. So where's the love?
I'm saving up for a 300-400cc bike fast enough to out run 99% of bikes here but slow enough so i can enjoy it with our bad roads and cheap and fuel efficient enough
Crikey second had bikes are going for more than new in Australia, if you can find a new one in stock, looks like the Great Reset is here, time to dust off the RE Bullet and learn to run it on home made bio-diesel before the Nuclear Subs leave port 😳
I got my 2017 ktm duke 390 for $3100 with 3000 miles and a dead battery. Had to replace the oil pressure switch after a year of owning it but that's it other than regular maintenance.
Take a look at triumph street/ speed triples early 2010's (11-15). They tease that $5k mark, but are stupid easy to work on, stupid fun, and stupid good to look at!
Just a week ago I also found out how effective brake cleaner was against wasps. I was working on my old Speedmaster and there was that one wasp that couldnt take the hint and leave me alone (not surprising, wasps are demons a-holes on wings) with my bike. I grabbed a brake cleaner that was next to me and gave it a quick squirt. Wasp dropped dead in an instant. I knew brake cleaner was potent poison and serious enviromental hazard but damn, instakill on flight. Of course I also crushed just in case. Anyway, maybe I really should start wearing respirator when using spray cleaners. 😅
A cheaper solution is to use dawn water (yes the dish soap dawn), just be sure the water is good an blue, or to ensure it's extra strong use a 4-1 dilution. It drowns the little bastardos by making the water wetter, allowing it to enter the little hellions an thus drowning them. So load up a spray bottle or pump sprayer an dispense cheap, yet effective death.
Hi yammie i am a beginner Rider i made my first "motorcycle" a put a 66cc 2 stroke engine on a bicycle and made it a "dirt bike"and i would like to share my story: I bought a motorized bicycle engine for 150 bucks and put it on a 300 dollar mountain bike it worked fine it was my baby it wasnt fast but it was loud because i removed the baffle from the exhaust it was FUN everyone looked at me when I was riding it and i had full gear Helmet gloves everything it was my daily but it was to good to be true i was riding it to school but I screwed up in the chain and the sprocket was off center the chain skiped the sproket hit the engine wall and it shatterd it than it the pieces hit the crankshaft and broke it the engine locked up and I draged my tire at 40 mph it wasnt fast but it feels fast because it was a deathtrap i bought a new crankshaft with more compression and put that one on the engine all by myself but a friend helped me make the gaskets it didnt run the engine had spark and fuel and compression but the damn thing wouldnt start and guess why the bigger crankshaft made the piston kiss the spark plug it was robbing spark so I went to the store bought a 1mm spacer put on the sparkplug and it fired right up after months trying . It ran for a week and broke down again :( now im just going to buy a 400cc ktm dirt bike in about 2 months or a suzuky im not sure wich one but it was a hell of a journey wish me luck Hey if you made it this far thanks for reading this is my story;)

Better off saving for a few more months and getting a budget of like 7k to 8k and you can get wayyyy more bike if you can muster a little more patience.
Picked up a 2012 Yamaha FZ-1 in Feb for $5,200 that was FULLY LOADED with too many extras to list from two previous owners. Super light, comfortable 4 hour touring, sporty and fast as lighting. I ride it to work daily and I will never part with this bike.
@@Chris-gi9ch I think that issue was fixed by the previous owners with several different modifications such as the Power Commander V, the new Sprocket and chain, new clutch etc. As I mentioned I bought it with too many extras to list.
So if the 'Busa is the quintessential beginner bike, is the Turbo 'Busa the best 2nd bike? What about returning riders, maybe a Kawi H2? Asking for a friendly squid.
You guys in States are blessed, here in Croatia bike prices are way bigger, for example zx10r 2022 is like 23 grand,or z900 2022 13 grand, minimum 6-7 k for almost every 125 cc in all dealerships, expect huski or ktm, they are even more expensive
So yeah I bought a Ducati monster about 4 months ago and have so much fun but it's kinda turned into a pain and rn not running so I'm kinda looking for something pretty fast maybe a naked or just something nice for the weekend

New Royal Enfield Himalayan or Meteor or 650 under or around $5000. New Honda Grom under $4000 or the 1988 Kawasaki Vulcan 750 with 3800 miles on it that only needed a battery and I bought and rode it home for $200. Lots of cheap bikes out there if you just look. Don't worry about horsepower and speed and think fun instead. Have a great summer riding.
I bought my 2016 harley street 750 with 1400 miles completely untouched and un modified for 3k. is it the bike? nope... but for 3k in like new condition was worth it.

Interesting selections. Just a bit of unsolicited advice - do some research to understand what a café racer actually is. It is NOT a “standard” motorcycle from the 60’s or 70’s with higher handler bars and mid-set foot controls. A common error perpetuated by those-not-in-the-know.

Finally enough sv650 simping. I’m satisfied.
Bandit 1250
Gen 1 concourse
Gen 1 fjr
Gixxer 600 an
d up
Mabey 2016 fz01
Or z900.
These are all bikes I'm looking at for a budget used bike...
Me and my dad got two WR250R’s for under 5 super surprised it wasn’t on this list
I'm saving up for a 300-400cc bike fast enough to out run 99% of bikes here but slow enough so i can enjoy it with our bad roads and cheap and fuel efficient enough
What’s funny is I do own a Bonneville and I did have a MySpace page where I was constantly commenting that I was born in the wrong decade. Lol
89 Goldwing going for around 13k USD where I live 🤣🤣🥰
Crikey second had bikes are going for more than new in Australia, if you can find a new one in stock, looks like the Great Reset is here, time to dust off the RE Bullet and learn to run it on home made bio-diesel before the Nuclear Subs leave port 😳
I got my 2017 ktm duke 390 for $3100 with 3000 miles and a dead battery. Had to replace the oil pressure switch after a year of owning it but that's it other than regular maintenance.
I got a 2019 suzuki v strom for 4995 rode it from myrtle beach sc to north dakota did great does need some suspension upgrades though
I'm about to die from the yeetus! 🤣😍🤣🤣
Take a look at triumph street/ speed triples early 2010's (11-15). They tease that $5k mark, but are stupid easy to work on, stupid fun, and stupid good to look at!
I've never bought or used wasp killer ever since discovering carb cleaner many moons ago. Brake/parts cleaner both also work too, Yam.
Berrymans B12 carb and throttle body cleaner is the single greatest wasp killer known to man....it can also remove rustoleum paint in sheets...
5:14 that's a vrod. My first bike ever. I don't recall it being a dyna. But I'm not a harley expert.
Hi yammie i am a beginner Rider i made my first "motorcycle" a put a 66cc 2 stroke engine on a bicycle and made it a "dirt bike"and i would like to share my story:
I bought a motorized bicycle engine for 150 bucks and put it on a 300 dollar mountain bike it worked fine it was my baby it wasnt fast but it was loud because i removed the baffle from the exhaust it was FUN everyone looked at me when I was riding it and i had full gear Helmet gloves everything it was my daily but it was to good to be true i was riding it to school but I screwed up in the chain and the sprocket was off center the chain skiped the sproket hit the engine wall and it shatterd it than it the pieces hit the crankshaft and broke it the engine locked up and I draged my tire at 40 mph it wasnt fast but it feels fast because it was a deathtrap i bought a new crankshaft with more compression and put that one on the engine all by myself but a friend helped me make the gaskets it didnt run the engine had spark and fuel and compression but the damn thing wouldnt start and guess why the bigger crankshaft made the piston kiss the spark plug it was robbing spark so I went to the store bought a 1mm spacer put on the sparkplug and it fired right up after months trying . It ran for a week and broke down again :( now im just going to buy a 400cc ktm dirt bike in about 2 months or a suzuky im not sure wich one but it was a hell of a journey wish me luck
Hey if you made it this far thanks for reading this is my story;)
If your only experience is with a 66cc 2 stroke bike kit then you probably aren't ready for a 400cc ktm ngl
@@proudtitanicdenier4300 yeah but im gonna go for it i think i am responsible enough
I also did the same thing but bought a motorcycle a week later
You guy should do a video about the hypermotard. Would be quite interesting
we have - look it up brotha
Where are you finding any used Suzuki SV650's from the mid 2000's for less than $5000? I'm just wondering.
You DIDN'T provided proper or enough photos/videos of those particular Bike on which you were mentioning on this video.
KINDLY provide enough videos clips or atleast their enough photos .
Some Bike you didn't Even shown their present Model or designs. ( Instead you showed us its 1st Generation Model 🙄😮💨 ).
eg. SUZUKI gxr600R, etc.etc.
By the way... It was a Good video with their specifications on the screens.
Thank you Yammie bro.
😊👍🏻
Better off saving for a few more months and getting a budget of like 7k to 8k and you can get wayyyy more bike if you can muster a little more patience.
Picked up a super clean first gen Yamaha FZ1 for $4000. Seen other used one's below 5 grand.
Picked up a 2012 Yamaha FZ-1 in Feb for $5,200 that was FULLY LOADED with too many extras to list from two previous owners. Super light, comfortable 4 hour touring, sporty and fast as lighting. I ride it to work daily and I will never part with this bike.
@@benjaminbrewington4995 I liked mine, but sucked in city stop and go. Bad low end torque. Not what it was designed for though.......
@@Chris-gi9ch I think that issue was fixed by the previous owners with several different modifications such as the Power Commander V, the new Sprocket and chain, new clutch etc. As I mentioned I bought it with too many extras to list.
@@benjaminbrewington4995 I think it's just the characteristic of an inline 4? Off the line punch comes from v-twin engines. Still a great bike.
Goldwing, when a Harley just isn't heavy enough for you
CRAIGSLIST LITER BIKES 🤣
So if the 'Busa is the quintessential beginner bike, is the Turbo 'Busa the best 2nd bike? What about returning riders, maybe a Kawi H2? Asking for a friendly squid.
Just bought my 2012 Rebel CMX 250 for $2500 only 1600 miles. It's not the fastest but only cost $106 for a year of full coverage insurance
LOL, 😂😂It's true. Carb cleaned makes for a badass wasp killer. done it myself.
I paid under $4k for my pristine VFR. Somehow it's now worth MORE 4 years later, lol...
My dads giving me his 04 gsxr 600 I would rather grab a sv650 but I can’t get a job in my state yet and a free bike is awesome
I work in a dealership and we’ve been having the same wasp problem. Solved it the same way with carb cleaner and starting fluid lmfao
You guys in States are blessed, here in Croatia bike prices are way bigger, for example zx10r 2022 is like 23 grand,or z900 2022 13 grand, minimum 6-7 k for almost every 125 cc in all dealerships, expect huski or ktm, they are even more expensive
Wtf even in Germany we don‘t have to pay that much. For 7k you get a SV650 or MT07.
are these figures in USDollars?
@@bushy9780 mine are in €
@@timme781 oh its 1:1 anyways. Those prices are crazy.
@@timme781 what a crazy price, you can get a new SV650 fresh from Japan this price in Thailand.
Craigslist GSXR 750s are the way to go.
So yeah I bought a Ducati monster about 4 months ago and have so much fun but it's kinda turned into a pain and rn not running so I'm kinda looking for something pretty fast maybe a naked or just something nice for the weekend
Found myself a 2011 Yamaha FZ6R with 16,000 on it for 3,300 gotta love Facebook marketplace
C'mon yam, the most fun you can have for $5K would be a late carb/early injection 450 exc
Wild that I find out this RUclipsr lives in Austin by him driving by my work right when I’m thinking his surroundings look oddly familiar
Yammy there's a bike that I would love to see you review. It's the Damon Hypersport HS. I'm looking in to buying one just for commuting. PS this bike can change there ergos on the fly
I would love to see that too
as it cool as it looks its actually pretty bad.
@@Onlycolors-z4y why?
New Royal Enfield Himalayan or Meteor or 650 under or around $5000. New Honda Grom under $4000 or the 1988 Kawasaki Vulcan 750 with 3800 miles on it that only needed a battery and I bought and rode it home for $200. Lots of cheap bikes out there if you just look. Don't worry about horsepower and speed and think fun instead. Have a great summer riding.
I started laughing hysterically when he said gixxer 600.😂😂
Brake clean or starter fluid works just fine killing wasps also
Ok craziest shit is my name is Josh and I just bought a 2000 sv650. Papa Yam is a god.
I payed 1900€ for my kawasaki kmx 125 and hell yeah. This is fun
I bought my 2016 harley street 750 with 1400 miles completely untouched and un modified for 3k. is it the bike? nope... but for 3k in like new condition was worth it.
Just got my Ninja 400 like 3 days ago and with dealer fees it was a highway robbery. But I'm stupid and still got it
V-strom 650...
Like an SV, but a little more tourish.
Don’t buy new, dealership bikes jump from 4.8k to nearly 8k off fees alone. You’ll end up leaving with that 5k bike for the low low price of 10k
Most people don't have a clue as to the old retired actor who took up doing them medicaid/diabetes commercials that you're impersonating. 4:30
Wilford Brimley passed on Aug 1, 2020. Your mustache definitely matches his though😁🥸
I came here for the Ducati, now I want it
Ahhh the ol' yeetus, I suffers from that particular itis, I do.
Interesting selections. Just a bit of unsolicited advice - do some research to understand what a café racer actually is. It is NOT a “standard” motorcycle from the 60’s or 70’s with higher handler bars and mid-set foot controls. A common error perpetuated by those-not-in-the-know.
