- In this video, we look into the reasons as to why thousands of Carnatic singers and musicians visit Thiruvaiyaru, a small village town in Tamil Nadu every year and celebrate the life and works of a Saint Composer whose compositions are still being enjoyed by multitudes of people despite the lyrics being in Telugu.

It is because Saint Tyagaraja is Telugu from Kakarla - Ongole, Andhra Pradesh. During Nayaka rule many Telugus moved to Tamilnadu

Thyagaraja never served in any king's court. in fact he avoided it, saying God's precincts give him joy. Thyagaraja's father did work with the local Maratha rulers. Thyagaraja didn't compose in Telugu because the Court's language was Telugu. He is Telugu origin whose forefathers migrated to the South.
